A not so common entry to the club... My Speedy 40B in Mono
Sorry for the over exposed pic the lighting in my house is either too dark or too bright!
This bag in particular or the style of bag has a long story attached to it. Originally I had a Speedy 35 in Monogram (first ever LV bag, which was a hand me down from my mother who thought the Keepall was way too big for me - I thought it was so cool being a doctor's bag as back then I was obsessed about being a doctor), when I was younger, and smaller, but as I grew up I thought the 35 was a bit too small for my frame (for reference, I am a guy who shot up to being around 6' tall from 5'7' almost seemingly overnight). So I decided to sell the 35 and upgrade to the 40 (this was before the bandouliere version came out). I loved the functionality of the bag but always wished that it came in the bandouliere option like the Keepalls. Lo and behold it was around 2011 when the Speedy 40B came out and of course I sold my original 40 and got the bandouliere version of it. I used that bag for the remainder of my highschool years and I didnt really take good care of it i.e. using it in the rain, throwing it about, etc. but being a trooper it was, it still stood up to the test of time. When the Speedy design was slightly revamped, at first I thought it was travesty to change a classic design and I thought LV was being stupid so I never really gave it a second thought. Back around 2015 or 2016 I can't really remember but when the Speedy's came out with the zippered interior pocket, I was floored. I actually loved that small tweak. I was thinking whether or not I should sell my battered up original Speedy 40B with the splotchy waterspotted patina and was thinking, nobody is going to get it at this condition (I am too scared to post pics of the bag in fear of my new bag being taken custody of it on here

). It seemed to be luck as one of my best friends who had always admired my Speedy way back in high school ( I still remember him carrying it when it got too heavy for me and I can still remember the joy in his face when he slung it over his shoulder) and when I mentioned that I was thinking of selling it to upgrade it to the newer version, and also expressed my worries that nobody was going to buy it in that condition, he low key suggested that he was interested in purchasing it off me - being his first ever LV item. I was happy at the time and also somewhat upset that he wanted it as I felt guilty that he could have gotten another Speedy 40B preloved in a much better condition, but he insisted that he loved how it looked and also the memory of him always wanting to own one after seeing me tote it around in school and having carried around meant a lot more to him than another bag in better condition. Anyways, he bought it off me and it appeared he was the happiest man on earth. Anyways, back to the saga. I bought the new new model back in around November 2016 just before I went on a month long trip to Japan and Hong Kong, and I used it when I was on vacation. However, just shy of two weeks of owning it I noticed the glazing of one of the handles peeling off in one piece - I took it to the nearest LV store in Tokyo and the girl advised me to take it back to the store where I purchased it from and see what they can do for me. So i waited until I got back and saw my SA. She took one look at it and said it was defective and that she would order me a brand spanking new version for me. So here we are now... this is my 5th Speedy, the 4th one in the size 40 iteration and I will be taking care of this one properly now since i am older and I cannot wait to see it develop an even patina as well as many, many, many years of use from me. Never letting it go of it again!
Sorry for the long post, but I thought since I am formally joining the club for the first time, I thought I explain the story behind how I got to this point
