The seller might of given them box with tape on it
True.
The scarf was as described so I’m happy.

The last time I purchased a cashmere scarf listed as excellent with no wear it had a significant size hole right in the middle and several long runs. I was hesitant to purchase something else but took a chance. I was a little wary when I saw the tape. It was unsightly and should have been removed by TRR but I’m good with my scarf!

The real real wouldn’t remove the tape if that was the case. It’s not their item so they just sell it like they received it.
If is a big word.. would think the consignor might have used a rubber band as opposed to the
tape only because the tape could potentially remove the finish of the orange box
But who knows how it was received.
TRR has shipped items back to consignors not the way items were received & TRR has shipped
out items to buyers in poor condition, just saying, there are several threads from consignors/buyers
on both sides here posted on tPF
Whatever the case might be, it should have been shipped appropriately. This was not appropriate
& wonder if the listing showed the box with the painter's tape & yes agree that if that is how TRR received
the item, they would have to return it the way it was received

Agree.

TRR’s listing only showed the standard 3 pics - just the scarf - no box.

This is not directed at you but am commenting on “they just sell it like they received it.”…..only because I received a 90cm Hermes scarf today from TRR wadded TIGHT into a ball and STUFFED into a tiny TRR little white bag. I am sure that whoever sent it to them did so folded and not balled up tight into a wrinkled mess.

I know it’s on me because I purchased knowing how badly they treat the items especially once those items are sold but would it kill them to fold up a $500 scarf?

When I buy things without boxes like a scarf it’s just put into a dust bag. It’s usually just thrown in there, so it has wrinkles. When I buy things with Hermes boxes it either put into a dust bag if it’s small enough or put into a box with some brown paper around it.

I’ve sold in person for years and I see people open up their suitcases full of clothes etc… It looks like a mess. The person helping you just puts things in a pile and it’s get dropped in a large reusable bag. It kinda looks like a bag you put a bed comforter in. There is not much care involved both ways.

Very true! I will admit that I have found some real deals there but lately I find that I cannot trust their “shows no sign of wear” description. Both scarves (CSGMs) I received today were full of runs and snags but were listed as shows no wear. I need to stop making purchases from TRR.

Does anyone have a personal sales associate at one if the RealReal stores that you would recommend? Feel free to DM me.

I shop remotely, but a West Coast sales associate would be best because that is my time zone. I buy most from the fine jewelry/branded fine jewelry category.

My current SA is not very responsive and this has not been my experience with other sales associates in the past. I will ask her for photos or details on an item and I don’t hear back.

I have never sought out a sales associate in the past, someone has just randomly reached out to me via text and asked if they could be my sales associate, however they have either quit or been fired over the years and so I have had a series of perhaps five in the past 10 years.

My guess of how they acquire remote clients from my experience (if not by referral), is that when a store sees that you have one of their items in your cart and then they look up your profile and see that you buy quite a lot, then they will just text you and ask if they can be your sales associate if you do not already have one assigned. This is how I was assigned to my first sales associates. In other cases, when my sales associate quit or was fired, some random person from anywhere in the country would send me a text and say that so and so is no longer with the company, so is it OK if I am your new sales associate? They must operate on commission, so they need to be looking for new clients all of the time. The most beneficial sales associates tend to bend the rules a little bit, for example they will hold an item in your cart for days in a row and snatch items for you out of another person’s cart, even if they just placed it in there minutes before… so that’s how the most beneficial sales associates also tend to get fired sometimes! The sales associates that totally follow the rules are not as helpful to the client, because they are not doing much that you cannot do yourself, but of course I respect if they want to follow the rules.

I have the opposite problem. I consigned a pair of brand new (NEVER worn) Chanel sandals and they are calling them 'very good' condition.

Open a case with TRR Support. They will review, and if they agree, will change to "excellent" or maybe "pristine".

I sold a designer bag that was valued at excellent. TRR listed item as "very good". I asked them to reconsider to "excellent". Once marked in excellent condition, it sold 10 days later.
