I finally got a resolution. I think I spent a total of 4 hours trying to get their error fixed. In the end they refunded me. The warehouse could not find the cardigan. I tried to call but the hold time was too much for me. I used their chat feature which is just as bad. The reps kept ending the chat. It took two days and 6 chat reps. I liked chat because i could screenshot it for my records. They do seem to make it difficult.
I'm glad you got your money back. My refund showed up today but they withheld 29.95 in original shipping charge (I chose 11.95 shipping, they "upgraded" to 29.95 because they didn't ship for a week and were late) plus 11.95 return shipping. I'm thrilled to be done with them. Never again.

There's no way I'd pay the $29.95 when the upgrade was a result of their error and was done without your agreeing to pay it. ($11.95, I'd pay.) Can you dispute with your c.c.?

I'm just honestly so happy and relieved to get (most of) my refund I don't even care. When they sent the item with a "no refunds" card and the security tag not attached I thought I might be in for more of a fight. I'll write it off as the cost of a lesson learned. I spend a lot of money online. They won't be getting any of it.

I’m learning recently that TRR is just the worst! “Sloppy” describes them perfectly.

My beef with them lately is that they continue to list items that are not authentic.
I’ve lost all confidence in them.

And they have the audacity to say on their website, "The RealReal has the most rigorous authentication process in the marketplace." I still remember the absolute disaster of a fake Proenza listed on there. It was just screaming cheap, especially the hardware. I sent them an email and it still took them something like four days to mark the bag as 'Sold'... That is, I hope they took it down and did not actually sell it to anybody.

ETA: or boy. Here we go again. After posting this, I went on TRR to look again and there is this cheap & nasty fake Proenza Schouler bag in their disgrace of a consignment store: https://www.therealreal.com/product.../proenza-schouler-ps1-tiny-shoulder-bag-c3cn4

Some of the other PS bags might be 'good' fakes, but I won't go through all of the listings, since with the four/five pictures TRR provides it'd be impossible to say for sure.

I emailed them about an item letting them know it was not authentic and why it was clearly impossible to even be authentic (as in it was never ever produced in that (size/format)…..very clear and accurate info. Their reply……rigorous authentication process…blah blah blah…..we are waiting on our expert team to weigh in……..
I replied back - no need to wait. The item is not authentic. It was simply never made……why do I even bother? Like I said before - no confidence in them now.

They have a tendency to always stand behind their ludicrously named rigorous authentication process. They have twice listed a fake H scarf still on the site now - same issue - the scarf was simply never made in that fabrication. No amount of authentication process on earth can change that basic fact.

I have saved in my TRR favorites one of those hideous bomber jacket looking things. Not only is it very obviously not authentic H, it is polyester!!:sick: Sold for $1250!! One has to be very careful with them and be sure that one can return anything purchased.

Though even that can be a mess. My last purchase of a mousseline scarf turned out okay - just by chance. I always worry about the lack of care in putting their stupid tags on and their lack of care when shipping. It is so easy to snag mousseline when you wad it up into a ball and drag the sharp tips of a stiff tag across the scarf. Luckily for me the scarf was authentic and because there was no tag, no holes or snags. Unfortunately, they have been known to fight returns on items sent without tags. How can I prove that the tag was not in the box, even unattached- their argument is that I could have removed it. Argh…

caveat emptor big time with TRR!

Ugh. I should have known better.
I purchased a Hermes scarf described in Pristine condition.
It arrived today with a spot on the border and some serious discoloration issues.
The quality control dept must be blind because I noticed the discoloration immediately
and I did not even have on my readers. Can’t believe I will be charged $11.95 to return the item
because it was not described properly.

They will refund the shipping to your account. Just make sure that you let them know it was not as described and you will not be responsible for paying shipping back. I've never paid for return shipping when it's their fault (which is always!).

They have received the Hermes scarf back and have relisted on the site at the same price WITHOUT mentioning the discoloration in more than one area that I observed. It is a discoloration on a solid area of the scarf so it is really obvious.

Also wanted to mention that the other scarf I order was as described but it was just wadded into a ball and stuffed inside a small realreal white bag. No attempted at folding. It is extremely wrinkled.

Did they charge you for return shipping?

I have TRR to be incredibly hit or miss. Some thing that are described as excellent/pristine with no visible signs of wear arrive in embarrassing condition. Others that are described as "good" or fair arrive in incredible condition. I think that the trick with TRR is to have low expectations, and know what you are getting into. Their pricing, I find, is also all over the place. From very, VERY overpriced items to things that I feel are almost priced so low that it's a mistake. It's a crap shoot with them. Idk.
