Normally I would agree with you, but he doesn't see anything wrong with this one! He thinks I'm being too picky and I wasn't even going to tell him if I had managed to get another one. I was just going to let him think it was the same bag and return the defective one. I will wear the bag. I have lots of LV bags, plus a few other bags from different designers. I'll rotate it in there once in a while so he sees me use it. But it won't be a bag I reach for, I already know that. I really didn't even want one that much in the first place. I just feel bad that he spent so much money and tried to surprised me with a bag that wasn't one I really wanted and LV sold him such a lemon on top of it! Maybe if I'm lucky it will be one of those that gets the glazing peel off or cracked canvas and I can return it eventually as defective...hahaha.
I don’t want to sound like a jerk, but honestly the alignment on your bag is so bad that it should be deemed defective for that reason alone. I can’t believe it ever made it past quality control. I like the little idiosyncrasies you get in a largely handmade item - these are subtle indications that human hands have touched it, and it didn’t come off an assembly line after being mass produced by automated machines - but alignment is different. Aligned quilts, seams and monograms are signs that the item was touched by human hands belonging to a skilled artisan who knew what they were doing, not merely run through automated machines or assembled by poorly paid low-skill workers in a sweat shop who couldn’t be bothered. Good alignment is part of what we pay for with these premier designer items; poor alignment is the first thing that is looked for when trying to spot a fake. I can’t believe that LV can’t or won’t help you. They should be horrified to have one of their clients walking around with an item bearing their trademarked name and design that looks like that. Your tale of woe with this bag really makes me feel disappointed in LV.

You don't sound like a jerk! I feel exactly the same way right now. Honestly, I am stunned about this whole thing. I've been buying Louis Vuitton for a decade, and I have purchased many items online, some in stores when I am traveling, and a handful of pre-loved and have NEVER had an experience like this. Everything else I've ever had from LV has been of exemplary quality. Sure, I've had pieces that maybe there was a slightly off alignment of a seam...but if there was it was on an unnoticeable area of the item and not prominently on the front flap!

Bottom line...my husband purchased this bag for me quite a while before Christmas and I've run out of time to return it. He doesn't see anything wrong with it and will be hurt and upset if I returned it, anyway. I don't live near enough to an LV, nor am I going to be anywhere near one in the near future and the supply of this particular bag is small, so the chance of finding one to exchange it for in a store is pretty slim. People are put on waiting lists for this bag everywhere. My only hope was to find one to order online to order and swap it out for this one. Which I thought I had done, but for whatever reason they cancelled my order. That is a whole OTHER story...I'm STILL trying to get my money refunded for the one they cancelled! I've called LV three times now and keep getting different stories for why the order was cancelled, and why they charged me for a bag they didn't have in their inventory. It seems odd to me that they charged me for the bag and took the money from my bank account less than 48 hours after I placed the order, then ended up cancelling the order with no explanation or no notification and haven't issued the refund. I've been told it was a glitch, I've been told it was because I ordered over a weekend, I've been told it was because of the New Year's Holiday, and I've been told it was because they had them in stock when I ordered but ran out of them before they could fulfill and ship my order. None of which hold water with me at this point. I am now just hoping that they refund the nearly $2000 of my money. I guess I'll deal with the misaligned bag later.

My next plan of action is to hopefully EVENTUALLY get to an actual LV store and take this faulty bag with me and see if they will have another one in stock at that time and hopefully do an exchange. Or maybe give me a store credit and I will wait for one to be available. My husband is running out of patience with me. I'm coming off to him as extremely picky and ungrateful, I'm afraid. I finally fessed up to him last night about ordering the second bag and how the order was cancelled and they haven't issued the refund yet. He was none too pleased...

So this just happened to me...I am so frustrated! I posted over the weekend about the PA my husband bought me for Christmas with the very misaligned flap. I checked the website and they had it available to place in bag on Saturday evening, so I did and was able to complete the purchase. I was hoping that this one would be better than the one I already have and I would return the first one. I paid the extra money for overnight shipping as well, figuring there would already be built-in delays with the weekend and the holiday. So, Monday I receive a notification from my bank that the money had been transferred to LV for this purchase. So I wait for the email confirming the shipping details. I get nothing. Tuesday, nothing. Yesterday, nothing (which didn't surprise me, since it was a holiday). This morning I check my email and still nothing, so I go to the website to see what the current status of my order is as of today. It was gone! The order had been removed from my current orders and my purchase history! So I called client services and was told that my order had been cancelled! I was gobsmacked! I asked why, since the money had already been transferred out of my account several days ago, and I was put on hold. When the customer service associate came back online he told me that they didn't have any in stock. WTH? I had received an email that the order was in preparation, it was showing up at being in preparation since Saturday clear up until last night, and all of a sudden this morning "poof" it's gone. The guy told me to keep trying, it's a popular item, blah blah blah. By this time I was very upset. I asked him about a refund and he was confused about that. I explained once again that the money had already been moved from my bank account and he told me that LV doesn't charge until the item is shipped! I had used a debit card and had contacted the bank and LV had indeed already charged my account and been paid the money. The customer service rep then tells me he'll initiate a refund in that case, but that it may take 3-5 days to process. That seems like a long time to me, especially in light of the fact it took them less than 48 hours to take the money from my bank account (and over a weekend!) . I asked him to send an email confirming the refund and he seemed confused about that request. I repeated that I wanted an email from LV confirming the cancellation of the order and the refund of my money and he said I should get one of those "soon". Still waiting on that email. By the way...I never even received an email or any other communication that my order had been cancelled...I just happened to check my account on the website this morning and see that it was gone. I am so very disappointed in this. I have ordered loads of items online in the past and have NEVER had this kind of issue. This poorly aligned PA is also the first item I've ever purchased from LV with any sort of quality issues. I had not been on board with those who have always been complaining about LV's poor customer service and poor quality issues until this incident. The worst part is now I'm afraid I am going to be stuck with this PA with the horrible misalignment! The 30 day return window is rapidly closing on me, and I will most likely not have the chance to purchase another one before the deadline to return this one.
This same exact thing happened to me last summer when I finally snagged the PA in Mono online. Frustrating.
In terms of the bag I think you have 2 choices:
1 -keep a bag you don’t like
2 -Return it and let your husband be mad for a bit.
...He’ll get over it eventually.

Did they actually charge you for it before they cancelled the order? That's the frustrating part for me...I paid with my debit card and they actually processed the payment on Monday, and cancelled the order on Thursday! Now they have my money, but I have no bag! I have talked to three different people in customer service. The first person told me that they don't process the payment until the item is ready to ship...but in my case they did. They money is showing up as being sent directly from my checking account to Louis Vuitton! The second person told me that they would "eventually" refund the money but that it could take up to TWO WEEKS! To me, that is just unacceptable. It took them less than 48 hours to process my payment, so why should it take so long to process my refund? The third person I spoke with told me that she could see the refund was initiated on my account, but that it might take a couple of days to show up back in my bank account. As of an hour ago, it was still not showing up as being refunded. I never got ANY emails about the cancellation of my order, nor was there anything on my account page on the website. The order just disappeared! That's why I called LV in the first place. I'm still not really satisfied. This situation has turned into a two headed monster for me...first I feel like I'm stuck with a defective bag, and now I feel like Louis Vuitton has stolen almost $2000 from me for a bag they didn't have in the first place and are dragging their feet about refunding. Honestly, right now I'm more upset about the cancelled order and the money they owe me than I am about the defective bag I got from my husband! I honestly think if I ever manage to get my foot inside of an actual LV store they might be helpful in resolving that particular issue. Or maybe I'll just try to sell it. Someone out there might want it, who knows? Meanwhile, I am not really getting any kind of real cooperation from LV online sales over the second PA I attempted to order and THAT I PAID FOR and have nothing to show for! Sorry for the continued rants, I just can't believe this is happening to me.

Yup. They charged me too. I put in the order, and it sat at pending order validation for a couple days. I called CS paranoid that it meant it would be canceled. The CS rep I spoke to said my order was in limbo (he said they authorize payment twice—once when ordered, and a second time when it’s about to ship), and was good to go. Next day my card was charged so I was relieved thinking that meant it shipped. When I went into my account to look at tracking info the order disappeared, and was like it never existed. I called back and spoke with a different CS. They said they couldn’t fulfill due to it being out of stock, and that meant the order would be getting canceled. Sure enough I got a cancellation email soon after. I don’t remember how long it took. A couple days maybe. And I kept an eye on my credit card statement, and they did refund. I think it took a while though. Maybe a good week or so.

I'm glad everything turned out ok for you. I put my order in on Saturday evening. It went through the pending order validation stage pretty fast...and from late Saturday evening up until Thursday morning it was in the order processing stage. Like you, I was relieved when I saw on Monday that my checking account had sent the payment to LV, because from my past experience ordering online (I usually use either PayPal for less expensive items and my debit card for larger purchases) they usually don't process any payments until the order is ready to ship. So I waited and waited for an email to tell me the order had shipped, but never got one. I wasn't too worried about it on Tuesday or Wednesday because of the New Year's holiday, but on Thursday morning when I had not gotten an email to notify me that the item shipped, I looked at my account on the LV website and the order had completely disappeared! I immediately checked my bank account to make sure they actually had processed the payment not cancelled or refunded it, and the transaction was still there. That's when I began calling CS and getting all of the various explanations of what had happened. I have still not received any kind of email directly from LV about the cancellation of the order. Two of the three customer service reps I spoke to emailed me personally, but that doesn't reassure me much. There's not a lot I can do about it right now since it's the weekend again, but if the money isn't back in my checking account by noon on Monday, I'm going to call customer service back and ask to speak to a manager. This entire thing is just ridiculous.

Different how? I don't see any difference..

The thickness of engraving
On my defective strap, the clasps had different engravings like this - one flat, one deeper and creating “puffy” letters (sorry, I can’t think of a better term). They were probably manufactured in different plants or at different times. Do the date codes indicate that the bags were manufactured at different factories (one in France, one in the US, for instance), or at different times? A bag produced during a different production run may show slightly different details. Do they have the same sku/ item number on the tag? My bag was made in France on the 48th week of the year, and its zipper pull has the flat stamping, but I think both are correct for LV. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I received the replacement strap for my bag yesterday and used it for the first time today. I’m dressed for the indoor playground and then ice cream with my three-year-old, and I think the bag looks great with casual wear. Makes an excellent, hands- and worry-free weekend bag. The stamping on the clasps on the strap don’t match the flatter stamping on the hardware on the bag itself, which is kind of annoying, but they match one another, which is an improvement over the previous strap, so I can live with it.
