I am a recent late comer to finally snag a “new version” made in USA mono MP! I was not wanting to purchase this cool bag, watching the glazing debacle over the years. I appreciated following these helpful threads advising on how to look over the bag before purchase...I happened on this baby by accident, when I randomly called the service number and they happened to locate one in the Delaware Boutique across country a few weeks ago. It may have been a return...the new canvas could bother some collectors. However, this bag looks to be perfect in every way, but yes....the canvas is grainier, matte finish, mono print a tad more subtle, and better structured...which I prefer on all counts with this kind of bag design. To my way of thinking I am glad it is...it is a tougher grade of canvas that was probably made to address cracking issues with less slack, over the softer canvas, and standup to multiple flips of the flap. Perhaps keep it from losing it’s functionality and move more like “a kind of pebbled leather.” I have read, that they now glaze the bags to be more flexible but tough by applying the finish on the flap in a backward position. They used to use the vechetta leather as the edge finish/pipping in many of the old schools bags. But bag styles change. We’ll see if their changes with the canvas/glaze will work. Sooooo In Love with this piece tho, well worth the wait, this chic lightweight but useful bag... man the hype is real ❤️

Congratulations!!! It’s beautiful! It’s just like mine and I really do love it! I was a little shocked at how different the canvas is compared to my other monogram canvases are, but like you said, I really think the changes were overall needed to ensure these bags don’t have the same defects and issues!

Congratulations on your new beautiful bag! I so agree with you on how strikingly different the mono canvas are...I have an old school Retiro PM with the softer, lustrous canvas to compare it with...but I can see how easily damaged it would get in this flap style...using their normal canvas. It may be this new hardier canvas style is not for everyone, but if it holds up... it will be much better for the market, form meets function. The demand for the LV monogram is so huge in this line, my guess is the company tried to do a fabulous flap bag in canvas, which is lighter, to compete with the heavier Chanel leather bags at a better price point. At these prices tho...they had to get it right. They possibly did not expect this bag to be such a hit. They are trying to save their reputation with this new one. I also suspect that over time this canvas may also become more lustrous with handling. It will be interesting to see and compare. Like you, I love this versatile bag style, I am glad they are keeping it in their line up and clean up their act!

I just got my birthday present - the very first designer bag and this is pochette Métis!
It was made just 5 weeks ago so I hope the problem with crack glazing was fixed by lv.
But! I go out with my pm just 2 times and now I realized - lock scratching so much
Is it ok?!? what do you think?

Did it have the plastic protective sticker on the lock when you got it? The scratching seems to mostly be on the bottom of the plate—are you wearing it unlocked where it is rubbing there? Admittedly I’ve used my PMs a number of times and don’t have this much scratching on either of them. That being said—you’ve worn and used this bag so in my opinion it’s yours whether it’s too much scratching or not and shouldn’t/possibly can’t be returned now.

I got my bag in lv boutique, and it had no plastic protector. I waited for it so long so I got it without this, cause conditions was just perfect! I use it very carefully, I can’t imagine what can damaged it so much....

It’s not going to have an effect on the functionality of the back. Unfortunately the bottom of the lock is prone to scratching from opening and then lining up to close while wearing it on your shoulder :(. The only thing you can do is to purchase a plastic protector kit to cover the metal hardware so it doesn’t get worse.

My new-to-me Pochette Metis in Monogram. This is made in Italy. The date code is PL1178 which I was told is a 2018 model.

I had the bag professionally authenticated and it came back as authentic. Very happy as I’ve been waiting since 2015 to get this bag new with no luck.

It is in pristine condition and no signs of quality issues. Has a light patina to it which I love.

I bought a vachetta strap from LV last week that I will use occasionally with this bag as I find it more comfortable. However the original monogram strap compliments the bag a lot more.
