HELP!! I am about to make my first ever RM purchase and I am so torn between the MAB MINI MINI or the MAC clutch, what do you guys think? Need your input on this purchase coz I don't want to end up regretting my purchase, thanks!

I've been obsessed lately with the mini mini mabs. I have it in smoke, light grey, lipstick red, and sage. They are small but easily holds my full sized wallet, 2cell phones, a pager, compact, lipstick, keys, and sunglasses. I usually use large bags but I love being able to pull out my essentials and put them in the mini mini without having to change my wallet. I am going on a work trip tonight and plan on using my mini mini as my travel purse. I used to use an organizer leather cross body from Brighton for travel that has a built in wallet, but the mini mini will let me carry more without being too big. I hope that they don't stop making these bags. Love them!

Hi I was wondering if its normal to recieve a brand new mini mac from the store with scratches on the hardware at the bottom of the bag?

Yeah, it happens- suspect some even pick up a scratch or two in the factory. As long as you love the leather, I wouldn't worry too much about scratches unless they really bother you. The feet will scratch as soon as you carry it anyway, so you will have scratches no matter what, but it can be harder than it seems to get a bag with leather you really love (lots of threads about different leathers around here). You could return it for another that isn't yet scratched, but it could turn out to be leather you don't like as well.

If you love the leather, hold on to it...

Thank you! :D You have been so helpful to me @Rocket_girl! I read a lot of the posts you put up with leather care, experiences, and such. It is really helpful. Thank you again and I love the leather!

I love several of the iPad covers that RM offers....but I own an iPad mini, not the full size. I've searched around for one but it seems as though one hasn't been produced. Will any be available any time soon?

I just purchased a Mini MAC in the cream color last Friday and I don't know what got into me but I purchased the MAC in the jungle green color when I got a 15% off from the same online shop I bought my Mini MAC from.

However, when I got my MAC, I noticed so many things wrong with the bag when I compared it to my Mini MAC.

1) Right from the packaging, my Mini MAC was wrapped like the standard RM bag (the hardware and the leather tassels were wrapped) and the item tag was attached on the buckle. But my MAC didn't have any wrapping at all and the item tag was nowhere to be seen.

2) The studs on the strap of my MAC were flat on both sides when it's supposed to be flat on one side and slight protruded on the other (which I got on my Mini MAC strap)

3) The strap is lighter than the strap of my Mini MAC (I thought the difference was because of the color of the hardware. My Mini MAC has a light gold hardware while my MAC has gold hardware)

4) I compared the leathers of both my Mini and MAC and my Mini MAC was soooo much softer than the MAC. Also, the leather of my Mini was slightly pebbled while the MAC was just smooth (and didn't feel leathery at all, to be honest)

5) The clasp of my MAC was more of a round shape than the typical shape in a MAC/Mini MAC (my Mini's clasp had the right shape)

6) The tags sewn inside along the fabric lining in my MAC was just a "MADE IN CHINA" tag while my Mini MAC had three "MADE IN CHINA", "100% GENUINE LEATHER", and "6/S13"

Also, I'm not sure about this but does the MAC have to have a REBECCA MINKOFF nameplate at the back of the bag? I know the Mini MAC doesn't but how about the MAC?

I'm freaking out right now because I think I got a fake MAC!!!!
I don't know what to feel because I bought my two RM bags from the same online shop that guarantees 100% authentic items!

HELP! Do you really think it's fake? Because if it is, I'm throwing this right back at them and will demand a full refund no matter what!

A few things- definitely different, not necessarily 'wrong':

Unlikely to be fake - there are very few fakes (you can post in the "authenticate" thread to check for sure). From reading the thread, i have not yet seen a bag with RM branding (the right lining, hardware, etc) turn out to be fake. there are look-alikes and knock offs, but they do not say RM- they have their own brand-names on them. see rhe "knock-offs" thread for some UGLY examples:-)

I'm guessing the lining is polka dot or black/ white print, is that right? Those are the most current two lining fabrics out there...

RM changed the clasp during the current season. your MAC has the newer clasp (a strong clue that it is actually authentic- that's too new to be faked). Your mini-MAC has the older one. I also have a MAC with old clasp and a MAC with new one.

They also changed the thickness of the chain. I have seen this only in photos- no personal experience - but chains of different weight are also normal. Especially when you also have the new clasp: (new clasp, new chain...)

The metal nameplate is not always used - it is more rare to have it there than not. This seems to vary by season - most of the current macs do not have the metal nameplate on the back.

RM uses many different leathers. Different colors can have very very different textures, and the same color can be a different texture from year to year. This is also very normal. You can see examples of this in the color reference threads.

Sometimes bags are fully wrapped and stuffed, sometimes not. Sometimes tags and dust bags are missing. This can sometimes happen when a bag has returned by someone else: unless they are damaged, some stores may re-sell the returns. If you are unhappy with that, it is a legitimate reason to return it yourself (many of us have had similar experiences with this). On occasion, a damaged bag gets through for resale - it just happens- again, reasonable to return. it can help to include note in the box to flag it as damaged and describe the damage. The person who opens it in 'returns' will probably not know the brand well enough to know what to look for. Also, they will probably not have the email history - so even if you email to tell them it's damaged, putting a note in the box may help spare someone else your same fate.

All that being said, authentic doesn't mean you have to love it. It's unlikely you got gypped, but she's only a keeper if you love her.

Hope this helps - good luck!

I own several MACs and they all have different details. RM switches it up depending on season. Some of mine have studs on the strap while some do not. Some have metal nameplates on the back some have nothing. Some have the metal name plate on the interior and some have a leather one. The hardware style, thickness, etc. also varies as does the lining.

Rebecca Minkoff isn't cookie cutter consistent in these details as some other brands may be. It all depends on when and even where it was made.

There are very few (if any) actual knock offs/fakes out there. Things to look for are the nameplates on the interior, the lining, and the hardware will be stamped with Rebecca Minkoff or I think the newer ones may have just RM. (most of mine are older so I'm not sure).

There are some other bags by other brands that are imitations or "inspired" MACs but they don't have the RM brand on there.
