I actually fixed it by pulling the thread from inside with a needle

For the mini bucket, do you feel the vegetable tanned leather is stiffer than the calf? I know calf scratches fairly easily, so I am also wondering if one holds up a bit better than the other. Thanks!
The vegetable tanned leather scratches more than the calf in my opinion. But i did notice that the calf’s color flakes (if that makes sense) the edges of the bag usually scuffs and reveals a white fabric. I find the vegetable tanned leather easier to take care of cause i can buff the scratches out. That’s my experience, at least.
Totally agree! The corners on my calf mini bucket have flaked off after a few months. I contacted MG customer service, and they are able to repair it for me which is great. I've had my vegetable tanned leather lady bag for a year longer than my calf bag and have found it to hold it's structure and shape more than my calf bag too.
My first Mansur Gavriel Mini Bucket Bag. I got it for a really good price 180€/200$ and I love it. I will not baby this one. I always loved the bucket bags but I wasn't willing to pay full price for such a minimalistic bag. The only problem is that I now really want the bigger one in a nice dusty pink color 
That's helpful! I got a mini bucket in black pre-loved and was told it was calf but it seems much stiffer than the calf bags I have had before. SO...now I am wondering if it is or not.
Looking at options on ebay and it seems the resale value on the MG bucket bags isn't very good (1/2 the retail price for good condition bags), so it's the perfect preloved item to buy. Since I'm a MG newbie, can I ask everyone's preferences on size of the bag? Ebay is flooded with large and mini mini's, so I'm thinking of going with the large so i can use it as a work tote. Also, how does the saffiano wear? It seems to be nearly industructable compared to their veg tanned.
Yes resale value is terrible. They rose to the top fast and crashed just as quickly. I sold most of mine at an absolute bargain. Was very disappointing but I did have heaps and got over them really fast so had to take the hit.
I preferred the mini because I only carry wallet, keys, phone, sunnies and a little pouch even to work. They all fit with room to spare. I did have large and liked them but they are so deep and huge, ended up being like a bottomless pit. I was always digging looking for stuff.

I have both mini and regular sized bucket. i use the mini when i don’t have to take a lot of things with me and the regular when i travel.
My saffiano is still great after 3 years, only thing to note though, the gold emboss on it tends to fade cause of the texture of the bag. If that bothers you, id stay away from the saf.
No idea on weight but the MG buckets are incredibly light bags anyway I can't see it would make too much difference.
