Congratulations!!! I was just looking at lovely Almas myself. That's a wonderful find at a great price, especially since you are ready and willing to rehab!

I'd recommend talking to some other rehabbers in other subforums, like Coach or Dooney (I believe the Coach thread is called Coach Rehab and Rescue). The ladies there are try experts at restoration and some have taken on incredible projects with great results!
Thank you so much for the advice!! I knew this was going to be a little bit different than the average restoration, but I'm so ready and can't wait to see the results! And the way I figure it is, I'm pretty artsy and anything I do to it could only make it better! Can't wait to get started on it! I'll take photos to share during the process and of course the final results!

Hello ladies!! I'm new here, but have been reading about and seeing all the amazing transformations of pre-loved Louis Vuitton bags...and have been inspired to take the leap myself!!! I'm so excited to share this experience, but also afraid and hoping I can pull this off and come out with a beautifully restored piece of history!I But first I want to start with a little about myself to give you an idea of how much this all means to me!! I have always admired the LV brand. It's more than just a fancy high-end label, to me it represents what we can accomplish if we work hard and persevere towards our goals. I had always dreamed of owning a real Louis Vuitton, ever since I was little and saw my grandmother carrying hers and explaining the history and how well made they are. Fast forward to the present, becoming an adult and having 3 children, I had never been able to afford one like I dreamed I would, because in reality they carry a price tag equivalent to a more than a week's worth of my income!! I never thought I would be able to buy one, but then I started looking at buying used and searching places like eBay and online buying/selling apps. Finally, a couple months ago I found her, and she was well within my budget!!! I bought a 2000-2001 Stephen Sprouse black & white graffiti mini Alma (or Alma BB?)!!!! This is the original graffiti collection, and I had no idea that this collection marked the first ever Louis Vuitton collaborated , it marked the beginning of an era!! And I got her for a steal, under $100, can you believe it?! She has some cosmetic damage as you'll see in the photos, but no damage to the structure; the exterior body, leather trim, zipper, stitching, etc is all intact! So, what I'm hoping for is that I'll be able to correct some of the scuffed paint, especially around the edges and in the graffiti print itself. AfterA doing some researchri learned about Angelus leather paint and Edge-Kote. I'm thinking of thinly applying the edge kote around the edges of the bag after gently cleaning off the paint that has chipped, mainly because it's harder/tougher than the leather paint and should help give those edges extra protection. Then using the leather paint to fill in the black graffiti print where it's scuffed, and finally sealing and glazing it all once finished!!!! But, I've never done anything like this, and I doubt Louis Vuitton would be able to help restore it. So has anyone ever attempted anything like this, or even have any ideas?!!! Any help and opinions are welcome!! Sorry this was so long lol!! View attachment 4347860 View attachment 4347861 View attachment 4347860 View attachment 4347860

Good luck and can't wait to see the process and final results!! [emoji846]

Yesterday I purchased a pre-loved Bucket Bag GM. Should be here in a few weeks. I know the lining is a mess so I'm planning on taking it to get replaced at LV or I might try to remove the goop myself. Anyone have experience removing the sticky lining?

Hi I removed mine with smoke green and water in a small spray bottle and a toothbrush and bigger nail brush to scrape the wet sticky lining off. Lining pulled outside the bag when working on it one side at a time, Tape off the leather top trim and inner pocket trim with painters tape so it doesn’t get the leather wet with simple green and water. Remove handles when doing no this project. You will be left with a soft flannel tan fabric underneath the sticky lining.

For my toiletry bag i removed the sticky lining the same way then painted it with lilac fabric paint from Michaels. I still might do a second coat and also bought a clear sealer paint to use on top but haven’t done it yet. The fabric paint adds a nice pop of color.

Thanks! I just got back from Home Depot with Simple Green, a new spray bottle, gloves, and a scrub brush. I was expecting the bag today but the mail person took the signed delivery slip but didn't leave the bag! Now I'm hoping it arrives on Monday or else I'm going to have to go down to the post office to file a report. So annoying!

I met the mailman today at the mailbox. Opened up my box, checked out the Bucket bag and decided I did not want to tackle that sticky mess! So it was in my hands for 15 minutes before I jumped into the car and drove to LV. I got a quote for lining replacement ($150) and pochette replacement ($240). I decided on both! I love the warm brown color of the vachetta, so I'm waiting to see if the light color around the opening bugs me or not before I decide to replace all the vachetta. Right now it seems like a perfect travel bag. I'm so excited...now the repair wait begins... 6 week countdown :)

Does anyone know if the tolietry 15 and the bucket bag pouch are the same thing? They look similar online.

No they are not. The toiletry 15 has a flat wide base and you can set it down. The bucket bag pouch has a round narrow base and can only lie on it side. It also has a dbucket bag pouch.jpg -ring on one end to hook inside the bag. The toiletry 15 does not. Hope this helps

Thanks so much for the information. I ordered the pochette that goes with the bag. Hopefully it will be somewhat useful! Curious what others use theirs for?
