Shoot, I just tell my SA that I'm sure I'm not saying it correctly then proceed to say it slowly. Wrong of course. But she's sweet to correct me. I always pronounce it slowly and incorrectly then say, "awww forget it."

No- ay is how it's pronounced.
And I tell you what... I just tell the SA, "I'm unsure of the pronunciation" & they help me out.
If any SA thinks of being condescending, then I won't buy from them. I call it "letting my checkbook do my talking" & you won't believe how much power we consumers have with our checkbooks. Please don't ever let an SA at any store intimidate you!

We should do an audio file and leave it as a sticky on the forum - I would love to do one but I don't have a microphone at home but maybe one of our French members could do one ? Just an idea...

Thats a really good idea!
I always sorta try and say it or just say "THAT ONE" But it's harder when they arnt on display

I don't usually know by instinct how to pronounce the name of a bag, but what happens is I usually call 866 or eLux to discuss the item first, or pop into the store to see if it is "everything" I would want in a bag, etc, see how it looks,

so eventually I become familiar with the name.

It's also fun to find out what the name of the bag means in french and the hisotry of the bag - or even how the bag was named for...ie. ALMA (flame of the statue of liberty but also a monumnet in Paris)

I can usully pronounce most of the things but sometimes act naive like I don't know the name and the sa's just correct me, I just don't want to sound like a complete snob handpointing all the names YKWIM

DO you think they have classes on how to pronounce the names of the bag? And maybe standard operating procedures on how to deal with customers who slaughter names? As in 1) Never scold the customer and tell them the pronounced it wrong, 2) Repeat the name of the bag with correct pronunciation.

 They do go to training in New York. I think the manager at the location I shop has been several times and my SA is there now. And some lucky ones get to travel to Paris for culture training!
