i usually discribe or point to the bag on find the picture on the book, i dont want to embrasses myself by pronouching it wrong even tho i've been taking french since grade 4... i've been corected once with the noe i said no-E and its no-eh ><

Re Dentelle--The SA's here in NYC really do pronounce it "Dehn-TEEL", not "Dahn-TELL". So my 5 years of French goes wasted :(

I am 100% sure that it should be dahn-tell, not all SAs can pronunce everything correctly.

Regarding Noe, the bag's name is actually Noé, so it'd be pronunced "No-ay"

Where's that pronuniciation thread? There are a lot more there.

Funny to see this thread because I was actually thinking about the very same thing last night. I took French in school and even if I didn't know how to say a lot of things my pronunciation was always perfect. Guess that won't always help much. I honestly don't know how you get "dahn-teel" out of Dentelle.

Being from Houston the pronuciation of the Houston bag (House ton) is very difficult for me! LOL I just want to say Houston they way we say it here!

Omg! I feel so much better that you said that. I felt like a huge dweeb when I said Houston like the city and the SA said House ton. I just paused, looked at my SA, and was turning bright red, lol.

While we're on the topic, how do you pronounce Azur correctly? I took French for 4 years and I still seem to be lost with some of these pronunciations!

UUUGHHH... Luckily when KathyD and I asked to see the Houston at the meet back in January, the SA corrected us, Kathy and I just shrugged and said "Oh that's how you say it? :shrugs:" It was funny... [well, I guess you just had to be there...]

Ehh I wouldn't sweat it as I bet everyone from Texas has done that! LOL I did!

DO you think they have classes on how to pronounce the names of the bag? And maybe standard operating procedures on how to deal with customers who slaughter names? As in 1) Never scold the customer and tell them the pronounced it wrong, 2) Repeat the name of the bag with correct pronunciation.
