Candles! Jacques Cavallier Belletrud is behind the scents again, and Marc Newson designed the pots. Has anyone had a chance to check these out yet?

Louis Vuitton Taps Marc Newson for Nature-Inspired Candle Collection

After creating perfumes for Louis Vuitton back in 2016, master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud has developed a set of four scented candles for the French fashion house.

The ceramic pots that house the candles have been designed by Marc Newson, who crafted the bottles of Les Parfum Louis Vuitton. Each candle has a handle made of natural leather, which is attached via metal studs, with a gold-finish metal lid doubling as a coaster.

Belletrud’s aim was to capture nature’s scent and translate it into a fragrance that fits the storied house’s essence. The candles were envisioned as buildings with open windows, with a “poetic breeze blowing in from the outside and gently lapping.”

Each candle embodies a different natural experience. L’Air du Jardin invokes the spirit of rosebuds, Île Blanche the feeling of warm sun and fresh cotton, Feuilles d’Or of a walk through forests, and Dehors Il Neige of fires on a snowy winter night.

The candles will retail at $185 and are available to buy from November 5 online and in selected stores.
The design is lovely.

I will receive Ombre Nomade on Wednesday. It will be my 5th fragrance but haven't smelled it or tried it on my skin yet. There were no visible tester (later heard that this particular tester can be hidden & you had to request it) at the Lenox Mall location in Atlanta when I went in to purchase Attreps-reves a few weeks ago but have been recently told by LV reps via phone that there is one now. I currently also have Mille Faux, Apogee, Le Jeur Se Leve, and Rose des Vents.

Am I the only one who likes L’ Immensite? It’s a bit generic, but it brings me back to a mix of my late 90’s fragrances when I started wearing calogne. I wear it every day. I get compliments almost every day I wear it.
Funny, I just tried that one yesterday and I loved it! At first sniff , it reminds me of an old Chanel men's fragrance called Allure. In the US at least, that one was super hard to find- we could get the flankers, but not the original. Or maybe I'm thinking of Egoiste? My memories of 90s scents might be a bit fuzzy. Anyway, the drydown is soft and nice, and it brings just wonderful memories. I love the way it smells on me, and my husband liked it too. I think I might get a bottle - we like to share fragrance, so this might be the winner!

I hate it. Both my SA and I think it smells very generic, and neither of us can understand why so many people like it. I think it's the worst of the men's line. Just awful. Plus, it's totally a copy of Creed's Viking.

It's definitely not anything like Egoiste. Egoiste is one of my favorite perfumes ever. I currently have twenty-some bottles of perfume, and two of those are bottles of the original formulation of Egoiste (the Egoiste that Chanel sells today isn't quite the same as the one they sold in the 90s). I don't think it's very similar to Allure Homme, either, but I don't know that one as well.

Still haven't gotten my third bottle of LV perfume yet. I've been too distracted by Dior's exclusive line because of a bunch of Saks gift cards that I got in December. And they're finally bringing more of the Dior exclusives into the US this spring, so...

Maybe it just doesn’t smell great on you OR to you but to say it smells awful [emoji52]

My exact sentiment of the rest of the men’s line, except for maybe sur la route. Fragrance in general is very subjective, calling it “awful” I think is a stretch, generic, absolutely. I’m admittedly not much of a risk taker when it comes to fragrance, I want to smell good, not different.

I also just looked up Creed Viking and the notes are completely different. Viking is described as more like Sur La Route, very “green” smelling. No grapefruit or Ginger in the Creed, which are the strongest notes in L’Immensite.

You're right. It is subjective. If I think something smells awful, then awful is the appropriate word for me to use to describe it. (And to be clear, I don't think it smells awful because it smells generic. I think it smells awful because I find the scent to actually be off-putting.) Maybe you feel differently, and that's fine. My thinking it is awful doesn't have to change your opinion of it. You think the others in the line are awful? That's fine. It doesn't change my opinion of Nouveau Monde or Ombre Nomade, which I think are beautiful. It doesn't hurt my feelings, either.

I do also like Sur La Route (not as much as Orage), but it's too similar to some Acqua di Parma fragrances that I know.

Um, looking up the notes and actually smelling the fragrance are two entirely different things. "Notes" are just ideas to describe the fragrances and are not always firm and definite. I have experienced both of the fragrances multiple times. I also know of many people who have experienced both Viking and L'Immensite and say that the LV is like a lower priced copy of the Creed. There's actually a thread over at Basenotes right now where someone points out the resemblance. There's actually been multiple threads about it.

That’s so interesting. I looked it up and the person on the Basenotes thread that compared it to Creed and trashed it alongside their “SA” is also named “ultravisitor”. Maybe somebody you know? Most liked the fragrance, some found similarities, others didn’t, but I appreciate your passion and consistency in hating on it on multiple forums, lol.

[emoji51] haha - I’m glad you caught that too!

I'm sorry, but what did anyone catch? Are people really laughing at their own illiteracy?

You say that like I'm trying to hide something--I'm not. I post on multiple forums. I basically admitted as much earlier. I'm not embarrassed about that.

I am not the person at Basenotes who said it was like Creed Viking. The person who made the comparison in that thread is the person who started that thread. I simply responded to his comment with my own opinion of L'Immensite. I never even said anything comparing it to Viking in that thread. Do people who "caught" me have a reading problem? Maybe English isn't their first language.

And, as I said earlier, that comparison between Creed Viking and LV L'Immensite has come up more than once. There are other threads in which it is discussed. I can link us all to the thread you're referencing now to show everyone that you're the one who did the misreading.

Here's a tip: If you're going to try to insult me and try to embarrass me, then you'll need to work harder than that. It would help you if you were to go after me for things that I have actually said. Maybe work on your reading comprehension. Or, if not, maybe don't be offended if someone doesn't like something that you like.
