What do you all think about this bangle? It’s $5,800 USD. Icy green blue?

This piece is watery with nice gentle color. But it’s not clean.

I have quite a similar piece however due to its flaw (black spots), I got it at a much much lower price .

If one has a budget of 5800, we should be expecting clean ones.

Nice texture! But the black dots would bother me against that light of a base and at that price point.

Thank you both! I ended up passing on this one. I have my eye on a blue bangle, hope to share with you all soon.

Just eyeballing it alone, agree with moneymeister, it is quite a typical Guatemala jade colour! Besides sending it for further testing (which might cost significantly more since it will require different tests from the standard), a rough gauge could be price point. Burmese jade would cost far more than Guatemalan jade of similar transparency though you would have to take into account of the lines.

Hey ladies and perhaps a few guys out there. Just dropping into to introduce myself and my go to jade bangle. I am a male is his late 30s that's into semi permanent and permanent jewelry. Because of that I've been interested in pieces that either never come off, or only for emergencies including Jade Bangles and Karas (bangles usually iron or steel that Sikhs and some Hindus wear as part of the 5 K's) The bangle I have shown below is what I like to call the 'Storm Bangle' due to it's coloring and pattern. I bought it from a seller in Massachusetts about 3 years ago and was wondering what kind of Jade or Nephrite it is. I can barely get the bangle on my arm and off with conditioner and lotion as well as a bit of pain, but it sits comfortably on my wrist. It's the hands it has trouble with, especially my left where I wear it as it seems my left hand isn't as flexible and nimble as my right.

Welcome! Nephrite and jadeite can both come in black so perhaps you can try to measure the density of your bangle to get a better idea which it is.

Steps:

  1. Weigh the Jade (W1): Measure the dry weight in grams.
  2. Displace Water (V): Suspend the jade in water using a string. Measure the water displaced in milliliters.
  3. Calculate Density:
    Use the formula:
    Density (g/mL)=Dry Weight (W1) / Displaced Volume (V)
  4. Interpret Results:
    • ~3.3 g/mL: Jadeite
    • ~2.9–3.1 g/mL: Nephrite
Having different hand sizes is normal ~ myself, I prefer wearing my bangles on my left hand because it's smaller so the bangle can sit snuggier on my wrist than it would on my right 😂

Instead of using lotion/conditioner, try a plastic bag! Jade is semi-porous so its best to avoid chemicals as they can alter the lustre of its surface over time.

It's stuck on at the moment, so I can't do all that measurement stuff right now, also I've tried using bags in the past to switch it out don/doff it but the bangle still just gets stuck on the meaty part of my hand and hurts badly. Conditioner/Lotions have been the only way and even then I have to do it in the late PM when my hands are there smallest. I do rinse off the bangle and dry it afterwards, so I don't think there's much harm. It is a 'heavy' bangle, so I don't think it's a bad quality one regardless what it is, and has held up to some decent bangs and bumps as I'm quite active and on the autism spectrum, so hands are always moving about due to stimming and activity and we're not always aware where our body parts are all the time.

Any other men still out there wearing jade bangles? I know it's rare, but I'm sure I'm not the only one.

one of the guys who love jade too
i got this from the ultimatejadeite website days.. she now sells more in etsy, i really love the texture..very comfortable so soft, and so addicting to touch just like pettin my cats lol
Is yours permanent or semi-permanent? (are you able to remove it relatively easily, or no?) It looks pretty snug on your wrist and is quite thick. Nice colors however, suits you well.

yeah, i thought it would not fit, as my knuckle is wide and my comfort size to put on is usually 58, this one is 57.6mm , i bought this 5 years ago had to stash because i had a hard time putting it on, but i feel like wanting to try again and it slip right through with soap 5 days ago😆 so taking this off would not be easy for sure, but we all want it that way, having jade touching our skin is a good thing
