The JADE thread!

It's been quite a while since I last visited the jade thread! Just spent the past hour browsing previous posts and admiring everyone’s stunning pieces! After a few years off, I’m back on the jade wagon, and just my luck - the first jade piece I bought, I got scammed 😅

A word of caution: be VERY wary of live stream sales, as they're often traps or scams.

Oh no, this is terrible. Buying jade is walking through a landmine to find reliable sellers.

Hi everyone, does this certificate look legit? I tried inputting the certificate number and weight into the website but I get an error message. The seller is firm that the bangle and grade A and testing was done at the lab with receipts. Could it be that the HK lab website is just wonky or I inputted the wrong thing?

Tested it, it works :)

Maybe you didn't include the decimal point when inputting the weight?

So this bangle was certified grade A but when I received it, I noticed a spot that’s kind of chipped and it’s the only spot that glows when I shine a UV light on it. Has anyone seen this before? My other grade A bangles do not have this glow.

Since it's certified (assuming the lab is legit), it's possible it's residue from polishing powder or wax that has been trapped because of unevenness on the bangle surface.

Not uncommon to have a patch that was rough catches the wax on final polish and glows under UV. That is not considered treated. You can remove wax.

Thank you both! I paid a pretty penny for this one and was kinda bummed there’s a mark but I guess it’s just the nature of collecting jade.

Did seller state about this chip? I can see it. But may not be so obvious in real life. I don’t mind non flawless; however I need to know before I pay for it especially you’ve said you made a pretty penny for it.

No, the seller stated it’s a flawless piece. I think that’s my qualm about this. When I received the bangle and asked him about it, he said it’s a natural cotton or inclusion that’s close to the surface so it couldn’t really be polished out. However small, I feel like it should’ve been disclosed. He then further went to say oh even bangles double the price may still have such flaws, etc. in real life it looks like a dot that’s a different color in the patch.
