The Illuminating Lumineuse Club

I believe the cracking issue has not been fixed. With most Lumi bags, this has been a big issue. Rather they retired this design despite the fact that it is also reported way too heavy (according to LV repair specialist). Mine also is cracking and it was purchased in 2012. I contacted one of the LV boutique nearby and they said to bring it in. Since this bag does not exist anywhere, I am probably going to be given store credit or an exchange.
Now, my question is, will they exchange for the amount I've paid in 2012 ($2500+tax)? or will they give me the current value which is close to $3000+tax?
I really think it is unfair to be given old value because these bag prices have increased like crazy in the past few years. When Lumi first came out in 2010-2011, it was around $2,000. And now it is close to $3,000 although discontinued.
So I would be fighting to get the current value because my bag has not been used for the past two years. I've only used it for about 8 months although it was purchased in 2012.

My exchange choice would be Empreinte Speedy 30 which is $3,050+tax.
Did anyone succeed in getting more expensive bag than what you've paid for your Lumi for this crack issues?

Hi cici2007

Earlier this year, I took my 2012 Lumi in for assessment / repair due to cracking on the shoulder strap. I purchased my Lumi from the store I returned it to.

The repair centre (located actually at my store) took my bag for review and came back about 5 minutes later stating that they couldn't repair the bag so instead offered me a credit voucher.

What made the whole experience surprising was that I paid AUD$2700 in 2013 and the credit note offered was for AUD$3500.

That said, I have heard stories where customers have returned the Lumi but were only offered a credit note for the price they paid originally.

I do not think it was necessarily "fair" that they offered me a price above and beyond what I paid. I thought it was quite generous and certainly not what I was "owed/entitled".

From a retail perspective: It doesn't matter that you only used your bag for 8 months - that doesn't matter to them given that you took ownership of it in 2012.

What I would suggest is that if they offer you only the amount you originally paid, I would suggest that you ask them to re-consider so that you can do a "like for like" swap (aka the same sized bag, in the same line eg the Speedy 30 or the Bastille MM). This should allow you to replace your faulty bag for a similar item.

Good luck hon!

Lan207, thank you so much for the info and advice!
I do also think that LV offer current value of an old bag is a very generous offer. If the boutique offers credit note of the value i paid for, then I will definitely ask them to re-consider me to be able to exchange with similar bag like speedy 30 empreinte. If Lumineuse wasn't discontinued and new batch of defect-free Lumineuse is available, I absolutely want Lumineuse since this is my very first choice. But because Lumi is no longer available, I will ask for similar one as a replacement.
I really hope things work out smoothly.
Going in tomorrow to the boutique! (Rodeo boutique in Los Angeles CA)
Thanks again for the advice and I will post here what happens tomorrow!
Have a great weekend!

Unless your bag has cracking issues, LV will not exchange for anything. And even the cracking issue, it's gotta be throughout the bag, rather than just the handle or strap part. Because handles & straps, they can just replace them or repair them easily. But if you're bag is in a great condition, just enjoy it! I love Lumineuse! If this bag didn't have the cracking issues, I would've definitely kept it!
Btw, I was able to return min for the current value so I chose Empreinte Speedy 30 and paid the difference..

Does anyone have any experience with a repaired Lumi? I sent mine in for repairs because of very bad cracking on the handles. They agreed to repair it.
I wonder if anyone knows if the cracking starts up again even after it's been fixed.
Thanks.

I have heard from others that once repaired, with the new glazing materials that they use, it should not have the same cracking issues. But in case you do, you can always take it back I believe

Does anyone know why the Lumi has been discontinued?
One of the leathergoods manager said there were a lot of reviews about Lumi being too heavy, and although he didn't mention the cracking issues, I'm sure that would've been one of the reason as well. Also LV does not make a lot of batches for new designs and always change and swap designs with the new ones, so although Lumi was one of the most popular piece, they've discontinued it and replaced it with Bastille, per that manager I spoke to..

Hi all.

Hope you can help me ☺️

I just found a pre loved lumi for sale and im actually not doubting that its authentic, but the made in label on the inside sits "crooked" on the lines inside. What I mean is that the lining is pin striped with a double line and a thick single line.
The label normally sits so that the the there is a thick single line in the middle and two double lines on each side... Like this:

But on the one I have found, it sits with the double line in the middle and two thick lines on the sides... Like this:

Do any of your guys labels sit like this too or should my "alarms" go off?
I havent seen enough of these bags irl to know if they can come in both models...

Hope you guys will look at your bags and tell me what you see 😀

Man I'm soo disappointed  I've recently like literally in the past week been obsessing over lv n have scrolled through their ALL their handbags on their website at least like 50x hoping I'd find something I'd love cause I'm not really a handbag person n I've found it! The lumineuse!! But I'm a little too late 😩 the beige/white one is my dream bag but they're discontinued so I'm super bummed. N I don't think I could buy preloved.. This is the ONLY style handbag I'm loving n I love every single thing about the bag except the color options now  n maybe the price lol but anyways I think I'm jus going to have to settle for a diff color.. I'm not loving the replacement the Bastille handles lay weird when not using what's up w that??

I'm going to lv prolly tues or wed to check out the orient IF they have it *crossing fingers wish me luck!

The Luminuese is one of the only LV bags I have truly liked and I bought it at my local boutique in 2012. It started have the cracking issues right away but I got pregnant with twins after buying it and between bedrest and NICU visits the bag was not on my priority list of things to deal with. It was stored and forgotten. I pulled out to wear recently and thanks to researching on this learned this was a common problem and that options were being offered at the stores to rectify it so I took it in yesterday. I do like the bag and prefer to keep it if fixed. They said they would completely replace the straps that are cracked and rewax the edges that really are not showing any issues in my opinion but I figure why not give it a full overhaul if they are offering it for free. So now I am just awaiting a call on what they can do once they ship it off and it is looked at.
