Hi!!! First of all - huge congrats!!!

While I don't have much else to add to what others have written, I just want to say that on my ring, DH chose clarity & colour over carat as well & I'm glad. It's a smaller diamond, but it looks alot better than other's I've seen that are bigger because of the quality.

I'm sure no matter what you get it will be stunning though
All that being said... I like the ribbon ring :cloud9:

THat would be ideal... but since there is a budget, my bf and I want to go ffor a VS1 with whatever colour we decide.... I was told that to our unaided eyes, VS1 and VVS1 doesn't make a difference and won't be perceived... I was told to go up in colour though~~~

i have a very picky eye :smile1: when df (then bf) and i went to tiffany, i was able to pick out the difference between a vvs2 and a vvs1 with my naked eye while the ring was in the case. lol the salesman was speechless and told my fiance hes in for a life of trouble with my eye.

as for the color vs the clarity...it depends on the person. im obsessed with my diamonds having a ton of fire. thats why to me clarity is more important. to my unaided eye i really dont see much of a difference between f and g, but i can pick out the difference between clarity grades.

some people dont care as much about clarity or color, and just want a big stone. you just have to decide what you want and go from there. have fun picking one out though! SUCH an exciting and fun time!!

Yes I would think so!

Does clarity affect fire? I want fire in my diamond... Does anyone else find this too? I am thinking of a G stone with VS1-2 clarity...

I don't think I want to sacrifice quality for a huge stone, but I think I'd want a little bit of a bigger stone with good/very good quality (as opposed to exceptional)

I think you should let your Bf decide since you do love both. It would be exciting what he would pick for you!
Haha~~ :smile1: I have tried all day to convince him he can pick for me but as you can see it's not happening... this is why I've been on tpf all day~~~~ (It's hard work choosing diamonds~~~~ :roflmfao: Life is not fair....)

Hey lola~~~ I'm very excited, but my stomach is turning too because it's such a huge decision and I feel bad about making him spend so much money... I think I like the ribbon ring more too... especially after you ladies chimed in... Thanks!

Hmm Novo...I think it is pretty but not like the ribbon ring. :happydance:

Thanks~~~ I know the ribbon ring is gorgeous... very pretty... I guess it's hard when there are soo many pretty rings out there and you can only pick one~~~~:p I think I had a moment of panick but I am slowly realizing the ribbon is the best choice... I think every now and then I'll see a ring that makes my heart skip a beat... but I should remember how beautiful mine is (will be~~) :D

Hahah don't worry about it! A lot of us have been through this exact same thing and totally understand the uncertainty and confusion when making such a big and important decision. I think you'll find a lot of support for the Novo on this forum but in my opinion, the diamonds in the band majorly take away from the solitaire stone. Its also less recognizable as Tiffany if that matters to you, in my opinion. I'd say stick with the ribbon or classic but if not having tried it on really eats at you, you should try to drive back or find someplace closer that has a similar style so you can at least get an idea.

Good luck!
************f0000]This is a truly great idea~~~! If I really am curious.. I can go to my local mall and I might be able to find something similar.... Now after saying that... I'm thinking I may not be interested in the NOVO because it is an easier style to copy and found in many stores.... Thanks~~~

I'm actually not a fan of the novo.... Of the 4 people I know that got engaged last year 3 people all got a "novo" inspired ring... It seems very trendy amongst my friends as age group to want one. So it turns me away... But if you don't mind it being common for now then it shouldn't matter because the ring is gorgeous!

I think that the novo looks great with a 2 carat diamond... and you're right... It is a more common design...

************f0000]I WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT I HAVE MADE A FINAL (REALLY???) DECISION! Thank you so much for all of your help everyone... I really do appreciate it... Family is always a great help but when you turn to other people... you're always thinking, 'Gee, they must be really tired of talking about this... I even felt bad getting advice from my best friend because she is not getting a diamond engagement ring now... I didn't even bother asking my cousin because I didn't want her to get sad as she is waiting for a proposal and wants to get engaged. I felt really comfortable talking about all this on TPF and I know everyone who posts is genuinely interested about the topic... :hugs:A million thankyou's everyone!!

So... I have decided to get the smaller diamond 1.04 and higher quality F VS!
You could see the relief in my bf's face.. he couldn't hide it~~~ And he values quality over size... I feel weird having chosen the exact size and specs but we really didn't have a choice as his parents wanted us to choose and needed to know cost and my bf wanted to make sure I loved my choice. The diamond I have chosen could very well be gone too from the stock... I guess now I can really wait like a good girl should and can be surprised when he does pop the question. (yes... I know this is funny.... We've dated 10 yrs and we've picked out a ring together... I hope it will come as a surprise and I can experience the same feelings as any other girl in waiting~~~~)

Congratz!!! I'm glad you picked a diamond you both like and I'm sure you wont regret it! Since he asked u to choose setting this is a nice way for him to decide. Yay!

I'm sure you will be thrilled and surprised. DF and I picked the ring together over a period of 3 months! It was so tedious to find our diamond. But when he proposed I was still surprised and both of us were crying. It was perfect!

Congrats!!! I'm so happy to hear the news. I have been following your thread for the past week and waiting for the final decision. Haha... My DF and I have been dating for 7 years and we went ring shopping together for 3 months like whoops. Then I waited for almost 2 months before he proposed, but it was the most wonderful day in my life! Best wishes to the both of you. Also, post some pics when you get the ring!

Thank you Whoops~~ and marialc121~~ Wow~~ both of you looked for 3 months... I only went looking at Tiffany's twice and in total (not counting the couple times I casually browsed other jewelry shops in the malls) I've been to only 2 stores: Tiffany's and Birks! Maybe I'm rushing things, but I know this is the ring and I don't need to look further... I also don't really have the luxury of having months to look around because of the fear of a price increase... and because I don't think I could take anymore ring shopping!!! I will definitely post pics when I do get proposed to... and maybe I will be surprised... I'm really emotional, so I think I might get caught up in the moment and lose control too... I'll have to let you all know how it all goes down... Thank you!
