Yay, glad you liked it! I do tend to make charts of the designs I really love. I remember about a million years ago when Tohu Bohu first came out someone did a chart and I thought that was a fabulous idea, so I do the same when I can. I did one for the rodeos which I maintained until there were too many to keep to one page. I did love the Samourai. I started the Ode thread, too.

It sounds like a labor of love! :) But yes, your chart was very useful to me and I really do thank you! I was able to find all the CWs I wanted and this was late October/early November that I began hunting. 01, 13, and 14 were the only ones I did not get. 13 I didn't want, 14 wasn't right for me, and 01 I never saw, but I wasn't terribly interested in it anyway. In the Ode to Samourai thread, it sounds like it was an insanely popular scarf and people were having trouble getting their hands on some of the colors. So I feel quite lucky that I found as many as I did, and even two or three extras for 03 and 05 (will be gifting them for Christmas).

I'm new to the silks (wore only cashmeres in the past 4 years), but every time I read of a famous scarf pattern, I go look it up and add it to my list. Will have to look up Tohu Bohu, it's not the first time I've read this one.

It seems the older scarves looked more classic and less bright in terms of color? I went a little crazy buying many non-Samourai silks too, and while they're beautiful, I did notice that a lot of the color offerings were very bright in comparison to older scarves that had a more classic feel. I managed to pick out some more classic colors, but it seems like everything is bright and somewhat candy colored. Loads of pink.

Current scarves are still gorgeous, but my eye is slowly turning towards older scarves for the more muted colors...

Seems the colors are the same for both formats.
Please, post when you'll have some pictures.

I may be visiting my local boutique this weekend (to pick up a CSGM I was hankering after from fall, not spring collection).

But I'll be in Finland in mid-January and I know Hermes prices are better in Europe. Finland does have Hermes right? So the plan is to make any spring scarf purchases while I'm there... I think it will be safe to wait that long at least? So far only interested in Jaguar Quetzal.

I hope I can control myself if the spring scarves are at my boutique though!

Unfortunately there is no H in Finland. Sweden is the closest.

Here's JQ in CW 16 in natural light. I was afraid it'd be too much like Pirouette au Galop in Navy, but I thought it was different enough. I wasn't a fan of JQ until I tried it on. I think I want CW 05 too.
Simply wonderful, such beautiful mod shots!
Twins on CW16, I have just reserved CW05 with my SA too.

I'm mulling over the JQ 140 in the neutral shades (it looks black & white, but I think there's some grey in it). But we shall have to see! :graucho:
I have this 140 and in real life is it a very dark blue ( Bleu noir) on a light grey background. There is no black or white/ cream. I feel the new cashmere mix material is thinner and DH who has and wears his own H cashmere agrees. Sad.

It depends on the years. If we're talking pre-1999 or so, the colors were more traditional, old-style. I feel a change happened around 98 or 99, with prettier and more modern colorways. There were a few years with a genuinely nice mix of colorways - something for everyone, not a lot of repeats across designs, very wearable. Pretty!!!Mid to late 2000s (06? 07?) we saw brighter colorways - I think this was in part due to greater worldwide expansion and trying to appeal more to non-Western tastes. Around the same time or a year or two later there were issues with poorer quality cashmere (despite the official line, it lasted a few seasons and still now, as good as the cashmere is, it is NOT the same).

I am NOT a fan of multiple repeat colorways across designs, nor this odd heathered-gray-non-color-textured background as a color substitute. Once or twice a season, maybe, but what it says to me is that either this new cashmere formulation takes color worse than previously, or they really need new coloreuses (hey, I'm available!!!). I understand your considerations such as functional, seasonal color palette, matching the leathers, but please just give us a few genuinely pretty options! It's clear what gets universally admired - we always let you know what we want - do more of that!!! Change just for change's sake shouldn't be the goal. Expand color options for more tastes, yes, but don't forget those who are already your customers....I just find it frustrating that I am here looking to buy these expensive CSGMs, and I'm having problems finding any that appeal to me.

Sorry. My apologies. Rant over. Still hoping for a Samorai and/or JQ GM that I can wear.

Pick a color, H! Try white, winter white, cream even - I've seen you do it before! Give us a few pretty options! This is such a useful pic though for me thanks BBC. :flowers: I have to say i love the middle row!
The samourai cws have not been as exciting as the silks for sure and the high expectations dont help! But i still am hopeful.... waiting to try them in the store or modelling pics here.... which are alot more useful/prettier than the way H photographs them! :amuse:
