Would Roche-Bobois be the Hermès of modern furniture? I kind of need a bubble couch in my life…
You should get a bubble couch then
RB has over 200 showrooms world wide, and it is very popular.

as per my interior designer, some of the smaller French furniture galleries are more artisanal (more like H)
, and as it turns out, it is significantly less expensive to buy in Paris and have things shipped, than to buy in the US
Bit, IMO, the furniture gallery most like Hermes in the US is the invisibke Collection ( we did not end up buying from them, but I included the link below)

pierre yanakovitch ( really the pioneer, but super expensive; he has a famous chair that is embroidered with lesage )https://www.pierreyovanovitch.com/en/

piet boon (Dutch); Dior retail spaces use their Ella chair https://pietboon.com/

*we have had horrible experiences with Artemest, and I don’t recommend them.

ETA: if you prefer Italian design sensibility to French, I believe the company behind B&B Italia is called Maxalto

I personally love K18. Olaplex is fine, but I prefer Curlsmith's Bond Curl Rehab Salve (not exclusively for curls). Curlsmith isn't the H of curly hair care per se, but I'd recommend trying it if you're switching around your treatments!

Let me tell you, their Mah Jong sofa is really something else!
I have had the mah jong sofa on my “thoughts and prayers” for a year for our pool house. I think it would be perfect but DH thinks it’s a waste - with people coming out of the pool and sitting on it —and we have dogs etc. (I know they have outdoors also but I really love the Missoni mix - indoor fabric)

Every single item! There are no products out there that can out perform this line. From the toner to the various serums and eye creams. Truly amazing. I have not purchased department products in 5 years since I started using this line. I have also used Belmont but not as great as Biologique
Current products from BR. The lotion p50v 1970 is amazing. As well as the crème pigm 400 - glow all day

Posted too soon..
Adding to @880 wonderful recommendations. I learned from our interior designer that Roche, Minotti and other similar companies (which I love and roche is what we always buy for family room) actually do not have tanneries but purchase the leathers from local tanneries. In sum, like 880 stated, some local shops in Italy/France have the same quality leather at a better price (learned all this after buying our furniture)

We just got the mah jong sofa. It is amazing. Dog is not allowed on it...yet.

What instantly springs to mind for me is Farmaceutica Di Santa Maria Novella.
I've been exclusively using their bath soaps for about 20years and I can honestly say the quality of them is second to none.
they have been producing fragrances and herbal products since 1221.
The packaging is charming (in an 'old fashioned' way) and their shops are equally beautiful.
The staff in their shops also really really know and seem to love the products.
Their products really bring me joy.
I love SM Novella, too! My friend just took me there when we visited Florence a few years back and yes, everything was 💜

For me it’s Diptyque candles. The scent transports but at the same time lingers. The throw is great, too. Personally like 34 Boulevard Saint Germain (I initially typed Paris Saint Germain.. No such thing as too much soccer 🤣)

I would say Ruffoni and Mauviel are the H of cookware, in conjunction with Le Creuset.
Yes I love my mauviel roasting pan! It's heavy but gives such excellent results and it's not too hard to clean.
I know Frette linens was mentioned, please do yourselves a favor and stay away from their outlet store. We bought some sets on sale and the first time using them, the sheets pilled horribly. I was so disappointed and because it was from the outlets there was no return or after care.

A fun furniture gallery exhibition ( featuring the H of furnishings)

DH and I went with our interior designer and found a bunch of stuff  (the three of us vote lol)
(we’ve also been to many of the galleries home spaces in Paris; its fun to see what they bring to NY

I know this thread has a lot of bougie suggestions, but just for fun...

The H of peanut butter is "Santa Cruz organic dark roasted peanut butter." I found it at Whole Foods. Make sure you don't get the "no-stir" kind because that one has palm oil. I can eat this for the rest of my life and not get sick of it. It is just blended roasted peanuts and it is perfection.

I 100000% approve the idea of non-bougie H equivalents in other fields!

And allow me, as a true Californian, to submit In N Out as the H of fast food.
