I don’t know much about knives. However, I know @880 and her DH will appreciate this, but the H of knife presentation is Gwen Restaurant in LA. Now that was something else! Also serves the H of free bread.
Agree :drinks: The Gwen’s bread was incredible. Oddly delicious for a steakhouse. There is no mention of the bread on the site lol.

Would you say Oliver Peoples is the Hermès of eyewear? :coolio:
Absolutely no. It does a line with brunello cuchinelli and probably others (which to me is a sign it’s gone mainstream, albeit high end), and it is owned by Luxottica. So, if I were to make an analogy, I would say LV.

Once DH went to Maison Bonnet, he has not gone back to Morganthal Frederic’s. And he is on his second pair of MB. Which is the main reason I haven’t bought from Maison Bonnet yet. I have too many MF pairs that I still want to wear. That, and I don’t want to wait four months for MB to make and fit my glasses to my face. But, it’s probably more accurate to say MF is like Hermes (with boutiques in various cities), and MB is like a bespoke brand like Duret, hand crafted and personal fit, with better quality stitching than current H.

What instantly springs to mind for me is Farmaceutica Di Santa Maria Novella.
I've been exclusively using their bath soaps for about 20years and I can honestly say the quality of them is second to none.
they have been producing fragrances and herbal products since 1221.
The packaging is charming (in an 'old fashioned' way) and their shops are equally beautiful.
The staff in their shops also really really know and seem to love the products.
Their products really bring me joy.
Oh La La. I will be ordering some today. Had not heard of them and I am always on the hunt for treats for my skin. Items that I can enjoy. Thank you for the post.

"Ginori 1735" is the Hermès of Tableware... actually they are more exclusive, cooler and much more chic than Hermès
I think they use these at the Bulgari hotel. . .love them, though they are not my particular personal aesthetic

hermes porcelain, is made from ceramic fired decal, (which I consider high end mass produced) as per a thread on TPF, and as confirmed by Bernardaud, the Silver Peacock, and other speciality porcelain boutiques.*

*im not criticizing this; I love my H deco teapot (despite its dripping and inability to accommodate my loose tea strainer) and my cups. And, I will probably buy some serving platters when I get around to it . I also adore Hermes bleu, and would have purchased a few pieces to mix with my current blue patterns for Al fresco dining, but it appears to be discontinued.

I like their ad campaign with Jake Gyllenhaal!

Okay, I’m sold. Maybe I can buy some appetizer plates to start off. And, I’m also hungry for pasta all of a sudden! Thank you:P:heart::biggrin::flowers:

ETA: one doesn’t have to have the H of everything. We’re tired of waiting for years for H oxymore, and didn’t want to go through the aggravation of having to plan another order, so went across the street to Baccarat to buy glasses in stock
and some Bernardaud platters that will be shipped immediately.
