I have a 31 and I have a love/hate relationship with it!

I love it because it’s my casual-non-dressy-errand-athleisure-wearing bag. It fits all I need plus more. I also love it because it is super well made, just how every other Hermès bag is. It is the birkin of crossbody bags so I don’t think it compares to an Evelyne other than both are carried the same way. Another reason I love it is that in a way it’s understated but very Hermès, it’s what I use when I want to wear a Birkin or Kelly but don’t want the attention.

Now, I hate it sometimes because it gets really heavy on your shoulder after a while. Mine is in clemence and about 70 percent of jypsieres are made in that leather, so good luck finding a lighter one. Another reason I sometimes hate it is how inconvenient it is to open and close. I usually just use it with the flap over its turnlock but it’s not my favorite look, so I bring the sangles on top of the flap and dangle them but it can be fussy. Last reason I hate it is very subjective lol to me, I only wear it casually with athleisure clothes because I feel it looks best only worn that way. I’ve tried wearing it looking chic but I think it’s not meant for it. I’ve worn it also with a scarf as the strap once to make it a shoulder bag (picture below) but something’s missing. It’s not as versatile as I thought it would be when I first got it.

Overall, it is a great bag but if you’re unsure about it I suggest buying preloved because resale value is waaaaay cheaper as compared to buying it in store which costs a little less than a birkin/kelly.

I’m going to follow up on this post because I said I only ever wore it with athleisure clothes, like post yoga/workout look because I felt it looked best that way. As I’ve mentioned above, I once tried wearing it with a scarf as the handle to make it a shoulder bag and it didn’t really work.

Fast forward a few months, it’s only recently I experimented with bag straps that don’t come from the same brand and was able to source a short canvas strap from Etsy and boy did it change my mind. I received my strap 2 weeks ago and I’ve used this bag more in the last 2 weeks than I have the past 8 years I’ve owned it. It kind of looks like a hobo bag now and I think it might be my go to black hobo bag. It’s a lot more versatile and I love that I can wear it with my non athleisure clothes now. The past two weeks I’ve been wearing it with wide leg pants and a tight fitting shirt. I’ve also worn it with a house of cb silk long coat and a pair of pumps and the look just works. So just putting this post out there for tpfers that are looking into buying a jypsiere. 958E12DD-6DF8-4ABB-9571-EBA3A02F1F5F.jpegCB42C83E-C47C-4A5D-85F9-C62B38C488B5.jpeg

This is wonderful. I bet that new strap is also much more comfortable and lighter than the strap that comes with our Jypsieres. I went to the link you offered for your strap's maker but it says the shop is closed as the owner works to complete orders. :( I really hope she opens shop again...or did you find others that were of similar quality and style? I see your strap from the etsy maker is 50cm. I assume this allows the bag to be worn as a shoulder bag now. Is it still long enough to wear cross body? May I ask how many feet/inches tall you are? Thanks so much for any help. I'm very excited to try this option!

Hello!

Yes, it has made the bag a lot lot more comfortable and lighter. Hopefully, the shop will reopen and accept more orders soon as this strap is life changing for your jypsiere lol this is actually my first time experimenting with straps for my bags so I’m not sure about other suppliers. However, based on this particular strap, it might be worth waiting for if you’re not in a rush to buy one.

The length I have is 50cm and it’s a perfect shoulder bag length for me. It’s definitely not long enough to be carried cross body. I’m 5’ 1” and the bottom of my bag sits just a tad bit over my waist. My jypsiere is a 31 and I didn’t want it to carry too low like a kelly sport or too high like a Louis Vuitton artsy on my shoulder. It kinda sits against me like a Gucci Jackie O, maybe a tad bit lower but it has that same feel.

I looked at Etsy for other similar sellers and found this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/122990...f=sr_gallery-1-8&organic_search_click=1&frs=1

However, I think this strap is one side canvas one side leather. It has good reviews too, though. Would love to see yours when you get your strap!

I was able to order a strap for my Jyspiere 28 soon after you share the link and it just arrived and is totally amazing. She made it match my etain J perfectly. I'm 5'3 and it was the perfect length as a shoulder bag. 50cm is about the length if i had use end of of the strap with a twilly to convert; however, I love that it feels way more secure than the twilly option. I complete agree the Etsy store is worth the wait

Lovely! I think 50cm is the perfect length for a shoulder bag, at least in my frame and the size of my bag. I measured my Louis Vuitton Tulum PM’s handle when I was deciding which length to choose as it’s one of my shoulder bags that is comfortable and similar to my jypsiere’s size.

Can you show a modeling pic with your 50cm strap so I can see where it hits on your body? :)

Thanks for your reply! The seller emailed me back and said she opened a new etsy store (bagstrapcollection)- which is from the link you sent. She said she's going to post the 2" strap that you got soon- can't wait!

My jypsiere is exactly like yours except it is the 37cm size. The strap that comes w/the bag is too long for me, even on the shortest hole- crossbody it hits just a little too low on me (I'm 5'9"). It is also a heavy strap, as you know, w/all that hardware, and that "keeper" section where the hardware is keeps slipping and moving around- it doesn't always lay flat- which is annoying.

No worries! Good to know she’s the same seller on the link I sent.

If you have a tape measure or detachable straps from your other bags, you might want to experiment different lengths on your jypsiere before deciding on your strap length. Since your bag is wider, the 50cm might be too short for the 37 unless you want the drop to be on the shorter side like the Louis Vuitton Artsy.

Ordered it- on the way...
