Hi all
So I took the plunge and got my first pre-owned/loved item. A Beige Clair GST with GHW. However the seller did not disclose (they weren’t aware) that one of the rings is missing a screw. They’ve told me Chanel would be able to repair it. Do you think they will do it for a bag that hasn’t been around since 2015?

Also the gold coating has rubbed off in some parts of the grommets and zipper pull, is that something that can be fixed either by Chanel or a bag spa type place?

I‘m in the UK, I took my GST to Bond street to replace the grommets as they were scratched, they replaced them for a small fee. Im sure Chanel will be able to repair and replace these for you. I think these grommets and screws are currently on the Deauville bags?

That’s great to hear! Yes, I think you maybe right about the grommets in deauville. But I don’t think screws are part of it. Atleast not in the model I have.

Can anyone please confirm whether the inner key strap clasp/hook is plain without any CC logo? Mine is a 14 series GST (pre-owned) so around 2010. My latest 2020 Deauville (direct from boutique) has the CC logo hence the question.

Hi, for those that have multiple GST bags, can you please let me know if the lining feels different (thicker/thinner) between bags based on their series?

I got a 19 series GST in almost mint condition from a Japanese seller however the lining of the middle pocket (and overall) feels much thinner than the 14 series GST I recently got.
The 14 series middle pocket lining has a slight padded feeling whereas the 19 series feels much thinner.
The 19 series didn’t come with anything but has the serial number intact. Also, it looks a tad shorter than the 14 series.
My 14 series GST is in Beige Clair and the 19 series GST is in Black. Both with GHW.

My PTT is beige caviar and it now has these dark spots where the rings of the chain straps hit on the top edges of the bag. Anyone know how to get rid of the dark spots? I tried cleaning it with a baby wipe and it made it less noticeable but still there. Thanks!

Hi! I know this is an old post, so sorry for the late response. I have many GSTs (six of them), and all mine are thin, no padding. I have beige claire and black. Hope this helps.

Hi! I checked all my GSTs and none have the logo. The hook is like yours. The zipper pulls though, do have the CHANEL logo on both the center pocket and side pocket zippers. All mine were bought at a boutique or at Saks.

Hi! I have GSTs in light colors (e.g. white, light pink, ivory), and a couple of them have the slight stains similar to yours. I use a damp washcloth (water only, no soap, no chemicals) to wipe it down. There may be a faint trace remaining, but I just let it go. If it gets worse, you can take it a repair place for a full refurbish. I have done that and the bag comes back looking brand new.

I would not keep rubbing it constantly though as every time you rub, you are taking off material. I don't think it's that noticeable, so maybe forget about it and enjoy your beautiful bag!

Are these fake or were they only done on some of them.
Anything I should look out for when buying preloved GST? I'm hopiimg there weren't any fakes created for this bag so don't have to worry too much about looking for certain defects or discrepancies.

I just took some more shots of the rings, and i dont see any engraving whatsoever.

The older models didn’t have the engraving on the rings. The CC on the leather was also sewn differently. I’m not sure which year they changed it slightly. But anyways if you are buying preloved make sure you have the bag authenticated by an expert. Good luck

The older style has a plain grommet and the logo is a separate piece of fabric stitched on top. The new version, around 2010, has the grommets with the Chanel etching and an embossed logo. Chanel made the change as so many GST were faked. This style was a best selling tote, so yes, many fakes.

If I were buying second hand, I would only buy the new version as it looks fresher to me. That’s just me.
