Now that I have two GSTs that stand tall and several others than have a slight sag, I actually do not mind a slight sag. I think it gives the bag that "cool used luxury bag vibe". So, as long as my GSTs don't sag too much, I will leave it as is. If they start to get really bad, I will send it in for a cleaning and stiffening.

I think if it really bothers you, send it in to get it fixed. I think bag inserts will take away from the limited space of the outside sections. And if you put in two inserts, you will now squeeze the center zipper section and take away from that open space.

Wow! Thank you so much for your quick reply! I didn’t even think about sending it in to get it stiffened. Mine looks a bit tired from the usage, so I might do that. It has been my favorite bag of all of my Chanel’s. I bought the newer shopping tote, in calfskin, a couple of years ago and just don’t love it the same. It’s gorgeous, but my GST is just a grab and go favorite. Thank you again!

Hi !
I have my gst also about 8 years now, I noticed last year that he also started to sack a bit. I was told at the Chanel boutique that this will happen anyway. I have now always pressed 2 rolled up bath/beach towels against the bottom.(when i Don’t use the bag) so that it stays in shape. it worked for me! ( a bit!)

oh by the way, I also cut out 2 square pieces of cardboard that I used as a bottom on both sides

Oh wow! That’s a great idea! I’m new on here and am so, so happy to have found other handbag fans! When I have my GST on my shelf, I keep the corners stuffed, but it goes back to saggy when I carry it. I take very good care of my bags and always stuff, (careful not to overstuff) but this bag has been a workhorse for me for many years. I’m totally going to try the cardboard insert. It’s a brilliant idea! Thank you!

Hi! For anyone new to the world of GSTs, a tip...

Sometimes, the screws on the grommets are a bit loose and have fallen out for some ladies.
Crazy, but I actually ran into a lady at my CVS who was wearing her GST, saw my GST and asked me if any of my screws fell out as one of hers just did.


When I first heard that, I made sure I checked each of my GSTs and carefully tightened them up.
All of mine were tight except one was a tiny bit loose, so that was good.

Just wanted to share this tidbit and I hope some of your found this helpful.

Hello, i would like to hear some advise.
Firstly, please excuse my poor English.
Please help me to choose between the following two options for a GST black.
(1) $2263 USD for a new SHW #19, with tag and plastic films on the inner hardware. Comes with dust bag, authentication card and shopping bag. Original box missing.
(2) $2064 pre-owned, 80% like new GHW #16 with all accessories and authentication card.

I prefer gold since it matches with almost all of my outfits and my skin tone. I’m 29 but people say I look way younger. Gold may seem too overpowering for me as it is more mature looking and might steal all the attention from me hehe. However, it does match with my clothes and rings.

As for the silver one, I do like how it is in brand new unused condition. Since silver on black is like black and white, it should match with everything yea? It is also from 2014 so is relatively newer. I dress pretty formal and lady-like, hehehe. I wonder if silver will look a bit off on me.

If you are in my situation, what would you do? Thanks

Hi! No doubt in my mind I would get GHW. I am the opposite of you and prefer SHW as all my jewelry is platinum or white metal.

For my black GST, I was also going to get SHW, but when I tried on both, there was no comparison. The GHW popped against the black leather and made it look so elegant. The SHW looked more casual and “edgy”, but my look is not edgy. My look I try for is elegant chic.

I bought the GHW. The bag looks great. I would not worry so much about matching jewelry. What makes the bag look great is that it is beautiful all by itself. No one stares at if your jewelry and bag matches. The GHW looks amazing with black and the GST. The fact you also wear GHW (for now!) is a plus.

I say get the GHW.
Plus... the missing original box for a “Brand New” item is a big miss for me. The original box is important if you ever want to sell yours or even give it as a gift.

I think you will love the GHW. I love the GST... it’s a great bag.

By the way, the 16 series is from 2012 and the 14 series about 2010. I don’t think in this case, the age matters as these bags are already “old” if that makes sense.

I have the gold and love it! But I mainly wear gold jewelry. My best friend has the silver and it’s gorgeous too. She always wears sliver accents. I have both GHW and SHW Chanel bags, but I reach for the gold the most. It’s truly a personal preference. You cannot go wrong with either! Enjoy!

I would get whichever hardware you prefer, given that both bags look to be in great condition. I just got one in silver hardware, since that one looks most elegant to my eye, but it is definitely a personal decision. You seem to be leaning towards the ghw, so I would go for that one if I were you. If you wear a lot of gold, you must gravitate towards it. Enjoy whichever you choose- it is a great bag!

I brought the SHW right when they announced the bag was being discontinued because that was all that was available. Then someone returned the GHW and my SA contacted me and asked if I wanted to exchange since I’m a traditionalist and my other bags are with GHW. I decided to stick with the silver because I feel it is more modern and this was a tote bag, not like the other classic black bags I have. And most importantly different than my other bags. Btw - a lot of my jewelry is gold as well but I have been told I can be too matchy matchy and your bag hardware doesn’t have to match everything else. But like the others have stated you can’t go wrong with either it is a personal choice.
