I agree. I know I'll get hammered for this comment (it's ok my opinion) but it sure beats out the totes they have been producing like the "gabrielle"!!!

You won't get hammered at all! Many people agree with you including Chanel SA's. Yes, it is a little on the heavy side, but design wise it is a very good bag and looks very chic and not sloppy like some totes can look. It is easy to carry and holds many different types of things well.

I tried the Gabrielle and I just can't get the hang of the straps. Different strokes....

Agreed. That's why the SA's told me to grab it. Yes, a classic, clean structured bag. I don't understand why they have to mess with simple perfection. Even classic lipstick colors they do this!

That's the way the world works. Someone always comes along thinking they can do better, when the reality is that they should just leave it alone. It reminds me of one of Hermes classic leathers where the subsequent iterations have never been close to being as good as the original.

I feel the same way! I have 7 GSTs and love them all! I have been looking for a replacement tote to collect and the only one that comes close is the Large Shopping Bag, but so far, it hasn’t come out in any nice colors I like.

I wish they would bring back the GST! But they won’t. One negative I am beginning not to love is the large logo.. wish it was just the double CC. I like the new Large Shopping Bag more now because of that but I hate that center strap like the old Cerf Tote. I guess there is no perfect bag! [emoji1]

I wouldn't be so sure. They just might. Oh I didn't like the Cerf either. They have been putting out a bunch of unattractive totes since the demise of GST. Are you talking about the tote that has a chain handle and is $5,500? Yes I like that one too but it is not structured and will sag in no time. It's much softer. I wish it wasn't, would consider. I'm afraid of it though. Think a person who used to post here was no not happy with it after a few months and was sorry she purchased it.

I took mine out today and some people like it better than my classic caviar jumbos!! Oh I wish I could find a new one in black!

I am waiting for some nice colors. In the meantime, the Coco Handle is my new love for a top handle bag.

Yes, I tried it on and was about to get it, but I already have a black GST and a black Cerf tote so that’s too many black totes. I have 5 black bags and rarely use them as I prefer colored bags. I know... I know... why buy them?! Because mentally I think it’s a classic color I should have in each style I like (I know, stupid. [emoji1]).

So, I’m trying to stay away from more black. There was a green Chevron but I am not a fan of Chevron. I would love a pink or white one.

Hi, I visited Chanel today and I did not see the tote like the black and the green you posted. Do you notice on the green tote, lower right corner the bag is already sagging, denting in? Oh, I'm a structured person and couldn't handle that well at all.. I think the sagging on the GST's from the pictures I've seen on the used ones for sale is coming from people wearing it as a shoulder bag. The arm squishes the bag inward creating the lower dents. I love totes but like to wear them hand held, or on the crook of my arm so I don't think I will have a problem with my new white one!

Ok, so I asked SA about totes and she showed me the "timeless classic" tote. That's the one I'm pretty sure I've been talking about but thought it was $5,500? Could there be two sizes on it? She opened up the door for the totes and brought a caviar black, silver hardware out - $4,600. For some reason it looked smaller 13.5 inches width. It was very light and didn't look like it would be a bag that would sag if not filled too heavily. Maybe I got the price wrong?
I swear the black ones I've seen looked bigger on the shelves than what she showed me today.
They have it in beige clair/caviar gold hardware and it is simply gorgeous! I didn't say anything as recently purchased a beige clair jumbo. But told her to keep me posted on what comes in. I really like it.

Congrats on your Coco's too. I'm tall, skinny, just can't wear crossbody. I prefer classic jumbo, maxi. I have all the sizes like you in black of course!

On the GST sag... ok, so here is my theory...the sag is due to how much you stuff those pockets on the outer edges. You will see some GSTs have sags in the front or back or even both and others have none.

My GSTs all sag ever so slightly in the back, never in the front. But... I carry my keys and three lipstick tubes in the back pocket. So one day, I was a analyzing the sag dilemma and concluded sags are due to the weight of what you put in those pockets.

Here is a great test to prove my theory... put your bag down and put you fist in the back pocket... notice the exact same type of slight sag you see in the photos! The bag does not sag anywhere else except at that bottom part. Then, move your fist and put it in the middle zipper compartment... no sag. Then, move your fist and put it in the front pocket... sag in the front! And the sag that you manually created is at the exact spot at the lower part of the bag that you see so common.

So that’s my test and theory. I still put my keys and lipsticks in the back pocket but now I know now to over stuff that back pocket. I never use the front pocket and everyone of my GSTs has a perfect front, no sag at all.

So.... that’s my theory! Do the test and let me know what you think. [emoji1]

Wow, thanks I just learned a lesson - very interesting thanks!! I took it out Wednesday and again today and only used the front slot and the middle. So you are saying just to use the middle zip compartment and the rest only in the back slot and minimal. I don't carry much anyway myself either, don't come close to even filling a jumbo bag classic. Don't ask why I bought a maxi. I do it, I'm just a larger handbag girl I suppose. Hardly use the M/L. Now that holds nothing IMO.

I get it, the tote is rather thin. She called it "the classic tote"? There is not much info on it here on the forums.
It would be fine with me size wise. You think that one could sag? I'm not sure.

On the one you plan on getting when you hand hold it does the chain hang down longer than the bag? It's really nice looking too! Those 2 are the only totes I would consider.

As far as repairs go who would you prefer - Leather Surgeons or Leather Spa in NYC. All reviews are so mixed.

@willeyi Oh I wish they would bring out a pale pink too in the classic or the totes. We have one shot at white - Cruise.
Coming soon. It will be off white for classics. I talked with SA. She looked at book, said page was white but swatch sample on it looked like a cool tone off white. Pink is coming as well. But bet it will be bright pink.
