I do have a few old aka vintage items to post. I need to take pics of them. My son whom is 14 asked me at 12 yrs old if he could have one of my jewelry boxes to keep in his room. I said now why would you want one of my jewelry boxes? He said well Im going to inherit it some day anyway so I might as well be able to look at it and enjoy it now too...:roflmfao::nuts::lolots:: My son is my heart so ofcourse I gave him one of my jewelry boxes loaded with stuff he likes.

Your son is sooo lucky. Must be great fun to play with your mother's jewelry at age 14!!

Yes I think he is too. The reason why he enjoys looking at my old stuff is that there is a very old 14 k rose gold heart bracelet in there. It was a very special piece that my motherinlaw gave me a few years back that was her mothers 1st wedding anniversary gift. This would be my sons great grandmother which he never met because she passed away over 20 years ago. And theres also alot of stuff from his other great grandmother whom is still alive at 87 years old. Then theres my stuff which Ive been collecting since I was 8 yrs old. I thought it was funny that he liked this stuff so much because he is a boy and not a girl. I do know the real reason behind it and that is the family pieces that have been handed down over the years. He really enjoys the family aspect of things and for that I can truly appreciate how he feels. Thanks for sharing your kind words with me.

Your son sounds like he is growing to be a good man - aware of family and traditions.
And he has an excellent reason for appriciating all the fabulous jewelry he gets to play with. :yahoo:
My cousin, who is 4, loves to go shoe shopping with me. Of course, the SAs spoil him to death, and he gets tons of attention... so he has a reason, if not a good one. I take him because 1) He has excellent taste, and 2) I get a lot more help from the SAs! ;)

Somehow I think my stuff is going to pale in comparison to your awesome collection!!!! I will post when I get some free time. Maybe this weekend. Have a great weekend!

please don't say that. EVERYONE'S collection is GORGEOUS!!! everyone's is...especially heirlooms. they are precious because of the history behind them. I get a lot of happiness looking at other people's jewelry...all of it. I post my pieces because I'm hoping that others will enjoy them vicariously (like I do when I see someone else's pics), & because I love them too. I never want to make anyone feel bad about the things they have. there is no way to compare...especially with heirlooms.

I'm sure you were joking me, but just in case you meant it even a little bit, I wanted to nip that feeling in the bud. I would feel just awful if I ever made anyone feel bad about the things they have. :flowers:
