Hi! Congratulations on your new bag! I am the same height and a size 4 US. I have the 36 in Blue Agate (i think mine is a little more of a muted blue) and I don't think it is too big. But you have to consider what you use it for. I mainly use mine for travel and when I need to carry a bunch of stuff. There were times when I used it eventhough I didnt carry much because the color went well with the outfit. LOL! And with jeans or shorts, the 36 looks great. I have the 30 but I usually use it with dresses for some reason.

As for the slouchiness, I have the Vache Country leather so I am not sure how fast the Negonda leather will sag or if it will ever sag. I don't see sagging on mine yet but I do expect it to happen over time if I always carry heavy items like my laptop in it. I try to only carry light items or not over fill it. Perhaps consider an insert or an acrylic liner for the base of the bag?

Thank you :) Blue Agate is so gorgeous, I hope to add a bag in that color in my collection some day. I get what you mean, I do that all the time with my Bolide 31 even though I literally have nothing inside haha. I would have preferred the 30 but you're right, this is a perfect travel bag. Once this pandemic settles I can so see myself traveling with it.

I've only ever seen Garden Party with Negonda leather recently but it's good to know that it comes with different leathers too! Yes, absolutely, all of my bags are fitted with custom made bag organizers so I think if I look after it properly it shouldn't experience any sagging at all.

I bought a GP36 Bleu du Nord country leather at the airport back in 2019 but not once used it due to pandemic as was working from home & have sold it early this year. I am 5'5" & also felt it looks huge on me. However, the size wasn't my main reason for selling but the weight of a full leather bag. If it were a GP30, I might have kept it. But then I have already bought a GP30 in Jaune Ambre in country leather in 2020.

Bleu Zanzibar is a lovely colour but I feel it looks better on smaller bags. Negonda is softer & has finer grains than Country leather but tends to sag more over time unless you use a bag organizer (which adds further weight) or store it stuffed with paper or the plastic bubble which comes with the bag purchase from the boutique.

TBH, GP36 isn't difficult to come by. If you are having second thoughts & the purchase is less than 30 days, you can return the bag & the boutique will give you store credit valid for 1 year or you can exchange for other bags or other items available. HTH.

Thank you for your reply, yes, I heard the weight could be an issue. I would have really liked more of a neutral color but well there was only one available and I have a rodeo MM whose tails are in the exact same shade so it felt like fate somehow. I keep all my bags in the exact same packaging as I receive it from the store so hopefully this will prevent the sagging. I think I'll give it some thought.

I agree About the lack of carry options- but, I’m glad the handles are long enough for forearm carry. I reeeeallllly can’t carry a bag with only tiny hand carry handles. Long ago, the GP30 bags had clips tucked under the handles for optional shoulder strap carry. I wish they kept that option. I’m thinking about an SO with that option- isn’t that why H is pumping out so many lovely strap choices?
I was told GPs never came with strap attachments except the red and striped green/white bags available some time ago. I too wish they’d offer this option as there are now too many straps and few bags to wear them with.

I remember my SA showing me a GP30, about 10 years ago (I may be off by a year), with the clips and a canvas strap. It wasn’t striped and didn’t have outside pockets. Mind you, it could’ve been an H ‘S’ item, and it never made it into full production. I still see the canvas, external pockets, GP on occasion.

Some of the canvas GPs used to have a strap. I think is was only canvas not leather. I had a canvas GP 30 in natural canvas with brown leather trim and a brown strap that attached with clips -- there is a picture somewhere on TPF. I got it in 2009 I believe and it was purchased at an Hermes sale, so perhaps this version only went to the sales? You can see a few on the resale sites. I sold it because I didn't really like the color but if I had known it was to be discontinued I would have kept it!

Hey everyone, I would like to ask for some advice. I just purchased a GP 36 in full-leather in the colour Blue Zanzibar in a London boutique. I was there literally one hour before closing time and so imagine my surprise that this was left in stock. For reference, I am 5"2 and UK size 4. In the store when I tried it on it didn't look too big on me as I can use this as a shoulder bag but when I got home and looked in front of the mirror, somehow the bag seemed to have grown twice as large and it looks like my whole body can fit inside it. Strangely enough, when I put it side by side with all my LV neverfulls, actually the GP 36 isn't that big.

Shall I keep it? I know how difficult to get my hands on one, there's a saying going around now that the full-leather GP is rarer than a Birkin. Does anyone have a bag in this colour? Would it be so difficult to dress with such colour? Most importantly, how does the negonda leather fare in terms of sagging over time if looked after correctly? I've seen some photos of second-hand GPs that looks like it's literally melting into the floor.
I have an étoupe negonda 36 GP. It definitely gets floppy with age - mine is about 3-4 years old. I really like mine though and I use it. My friend has one too and she uses it much less and it’s kept its shape much better.
If you don’t like the way it looks on you, I’d return it. Also, keeping a bag that you don’t love because you’re concerned about not getting another might not be the best idea. It might lead to you feeling disappointed that you’ve kept it. Just keep it if you love it. My two cents.

Thank you for your advice, after thinking things through I decided to keep it. The 36, objectively isn't that much of a large bag and I figured this will be a good travel bag. I also compared it with my Chanel Deauville small size and it's almost the exact same size which I have always found perfect. I think I was too obsessed with the smaller size. If I sling it over my shoulder it didn't look too large at all and as I can still wear this bag over the shoulder with a thick coat on I'm sure it won't be too uncomfortable. It's also great to know that the sagging is dependent on the amount of usage, I change my bags everyday and of course I won't be using this every single day, hopefully this means I can keep the shape for that much longer. Having said that, if I do come across the 30 somewhere down the line I think I'll keep them both :)

Does anyone remember when the first Garden Party was introduced? I have 2 of the first ones my boutique received, but can't for the life of me remember what year it was. By the way, I've used both of them tons and they still look great.
