Ladies, I am considering a full leather GP for work. I do not have a lot to carry, besides my laptop, so my questions are:

1. Can MacBook Pro fit in GP30? Or do I have to go for GP36? I prefer GP30 because it’s supposed to be lighter, and I am petite too (5’3, 115lb)

2. Will either GP30 or 36 be too heavy to carry with MacBook Pro + card holder + phone + keys in?

Thank you!!!

I recommend the 36. It fits my 13" surface and my 13" HP (I don't put them in there at the same time!) I'm also petite at 5'2" and I personally thought the 30 was too small .

I don't think it would be too heavy since you're probably not carrying it for too long so go with what you really want :)

Well, I am in NYC, so the subway ride + walking is a bit of time. I would say about 40min one way... sigh~

I like that 36 can be shoulder carried. But many people are also saying it keeps falling off, so it ends up on hand or arm anyways.

I am similarly sized to you and considered a GP 30 for a similar purpose to you. I decided against it when I saw one in store though as I felt it’s pretty small, plus the top is really open. The 36 would have been the perfect size but in the end, for security and weather proofing reasons (I walk from train station to office) I went for a longchamp le pliage which has been great. It also doubles as a rain cover for my Bolide on rainy days and the laptop goes in a plastic carrier bag, yes I’m THAT classy!

The exact reason why I have been living with a Marc Jacobs nylon backpack for the last 5 years!!! And I finally becomes sick of it... Luckily, I have indoor connection between my office and train, so weather is not an issue for me. My main concern is weight... switching from nylon backpack to full leather tote is challenging

There’s security too - the very open nature of the bag means everyone can see what’s in your bag and a MacBook is a tempting thing.... you can pop a scarf over the top to hide the contents of course, but I decided that there were just too many compromises and saved the fairly chunky ££ for products that I love

I use an amazon $20 plain laptop sleeve, haha!

I got the GP36 for 3 years rarely using it cos I prefer carrying the tote on the shoulder rather than handheld. I can carry it on my shoulder only during summertime without any coat or jacket but the straps are just bit short so it’s kind of tight with the top of bag touching my armpit, not exactly comfortable. Being full leather which means I couldn’t use it when raining and will be heavy when taking all my essentials with me.
I just go for my longchamp pliage frequently if not daily. It’s light, rainproof and very comfortable as shoulder bag. If the straps of GP36 just little bit longer then I would have reached for it more often.

Thank you for the insights!

Two orders from the US site. Both GP 36. Pink is Rouse Pourpre in vache country. Blue is blue indigo in negonda. Tried to get some good comparatives so you can see the grain and structure. The negonda also feels slightly thinner than the vache. I was concerned the vache would be significantly heavier but fortunately it isn’t! going to hold onto the pink as I love both the bright color and the structure of the leather. Could absolutely see how the negonda in this size would get very floppy and that would be especially bothersome in the bottom. Hi Chanellover, I was wondering if you could tell me the year stamp on your rose pourpre GP? I thought this color wasn’t available now. Is it from 2020 or an earlier year? Thank you!

I love both! Can you please say more about the differences in the leather? "Country leather" is new to me. Thanks!

country cowhide or vache country is a stiffer leather than the negonda. I am no expert but have seen many others post about how in the GP 36 the negonda leather gets too slouchy over time, especially the base of the bag. I think a lot of people manage this issue by using inserts. The grain on country vs negonda looks mostly the same to me but the country is certainly stiffer, feels thicker and the bag is slightly heavier. I’d highly recommend it unless you know you will use a bag insert to keep the shape of the bag or want something that gets quite floppy.
