Hi everyone,

I am quite new to Hermes and to the GP but I am getting more and more interested in this bag and I am thinking that this might be the right one to seriously enter the world of beautiful Hermes bags. However, I am not sure about if the GP is easy or difficult to get in the boutique? I do not suppose that is is like the B or K but... when checking the website in my country (Europe) I only seem to find it in one colour, a kind of blue one. It doesn’t really look like other colours exist / are offered. Can I hope to find other options if I visit the boutique? Or is the website the only sort of “truth” about what they have in the boutiques and this means that the GP is not actually produced or sold from the boutiques in any other colour versions than this at the moment? Sorry, if I ask about something that is common knowledge but as mentioned I am new to the Hermes world and things like this can be a bit difficult to figure out... Btw, how do you find the pricing on this one in Europe? Thanks!

If you keep checking the website every day and ideally a few times a day you will see GP 36 and even 30 pop up in a few different colours, just 1-3 at a time. They sell fast so make sure you have logged in and registered your payment method. The all leather version should be around 25-2600 €.

Just want to add that the website isn’t the “truth” at all. It’s separate from any H boutique. Suggest going to the boutique and inquire what’s available, they also should be able to provide intel on all current options even if not in the boutique at the time, what they ordered etc. Perhaps members here are also able to give an up-to-date overview. If you’re near enough to a boutique, there would be no need to stalk the website hoping the one you want eventually shows up, because there’s also a chance it never even will.
Also: you can switch countries for the website to see some GP options. The French website offerings for bags is different than the other EU-countries, but also differs from US, Canada etc. 36s are more common online than the smaller 30s.
Of course, being a French company, Euro pricing can’t be beat for any H item.
Good luck! :flowers:

I’m not in the EU but the various GP 36 I’ve seen both in my local H and online this year are made in Negonda, Epsom, or Vache country (online it’s described as country cowhide I think). I haven’t really paid much attention to the GP 30 so can’t comment on what leathers they are made in this year. The GP comes in a lot of different colors so probably best to ask at your local H. They most likely won’t display all the colors they have so only way to find out what they have in stock is to ask. Good luck with your search. The GP is a great bag for every day use.

Agree. Online is independent from those boutiques. Usually, those boutiques carry bags in that season's colours, e.g. Bleu du Nord, Rouge de Coeur, Jaune de Naples for S/S 2019 or Vert Amande, Deep Blue, Vert Bosphore for A/W 2019, besides the classic Noir, Etoupe and Gold.

As the colours look different under different lighting, online pics might not be good representation, so it's best to visit a boutique to inquire and try them out IRL.

Good luck on your GP hunt!

This bag is somehow ugly and beautiful at the same time...

I went with black (not that you can get any other colour here in Australia and even that's disappeared from the website). I choose to think black is my first choice otherwise I would feel super jelly of all of you who have access to a much larger range overseas:-s:-s:-s:-s:-s

And the million dollar question: "Can you wear it on your shoulder???" Short answer would be no, not really. I'm not a large person at 163cm, size EUR36- I can definitely get the bag on my shoulder but it's really tight and awkward. Being a person who loves/prefers shoulder bags to the point I feel naked without something on my shoulder, I would definitely have it there if I could. But the GP36... the strap length really is too short, it was probably more designed to sit in the crook of your arm or to be used handheld. Oh well.

Hi All,

I'm interested in buying GP30. But don't know much about Hermes leather for the Garden Party(I've done online research, but not enough information on this particular bag). I want a leather bag, and ideally one that would retain its shape. Which leathers would be best?

I see most of the time, at least online, it's only available in country cowhide or Negonda (?). Also, is it possible to buy this at Heathrow?

Thanks for your help.

GP comes in canvas, Country Leather or Negonda. As with most/all Hermes bags, it's always a question of timing since not all the desirable colours/sizes/leather will be available in the store unless one prefers to wait for the perfect one to come by in their local store. GP is a very durable bag but I heard Country Leather holds the shape better than Negonda.

From my experience, GP30 is even harder to come by than GP36. I was in Heathrow airport in Feb this year and didn't see any GP on display (only Evelyne 29). Though Europe prices are more attractive than Asia, somehow the stocks are lower. Most bags are only for 'display' in the city stores. Seems H stores prioritise local regular customers over tourists, even for non-BKC bags.

Having said, it never hurts to ask the Heathrow SA even if GP30 is not displayed on the shelves. Good luck on your quest!

You can't go wrong with Noir. A twilly in any colour will jazz it up easily. Is this in size 30 or 36? I think it's a matter of getting used to a handheld bag but I think you can still wear a GP36 over the shoulder in summer time when you aren't wearing a thick overcoat in winter.

Enjoy yours in good health! ;)

The bag is beautiful and meant to wear on the crook of your arm or as a tote. I've always loved GP and have different sizes. You will grow to love yours too.

Thank you so much. I'm a local (in London). Just wondered about Heathrow as obviously bit cheaper. I have been to one of my local boutique and generally quite cold (but polite) atmosphere. I haven't bought anything from H yet, though buying a scarf from Heathrow in a week.

Do Hermes have a computer system that shows your sales history globally? Or is it only local? I wonder if I need to go to just one store, or I can go to multiple boutiques locally.

I totally understand what you meant by atmosphere in the local boutique being quite "cold" albeit polite 'cos I tried every weekend at Sloane Street, New Bonds Street, Selfridge and Harrods during my one month business trip in London without success. Turned out I managed to score an Evelyne 29 in Etain Clemence leather with Gold Hardware when it was on display at Heathrow Airport on my flight to Hamburg.

Nope, Hermes do not have computer system to show customer's purchase history globally but only locally. But the system might work differently for airport stores and city boutiques. In Singapore where I am based, the airport stores are under a different Management from the city boutiques. Even so, each boutique in the city only considers the customer's purchase history within the same store. It's a well-known industry secret that one would need to have some sort of "decent" purchase history at the same H store with the same SA before one can be offered a BKC which are considered the "quota" bags (i.e. you can't buy more than one Birkin, Kelly or Constance every half year).

If you can't score the GP30 at Heathrow, I would recommend you to stick with the same SA at the same store and build some "relationship" so that he/she can keep a lookout for you when your dream GP30 comes by. All the best! ;)

I have the black 30 and the purple 36. I like wearing my GP 36 on my shoulder. It stretches with time. I'm not a small gal either. I think black is a wonderful choice.
