As for the pirate look, that's all in aid of showing how fashionable and youthful a 90 is. H know older customers will still buy 'youthfully styled' products but that younger cliental worry about carres looking 'matronly'. It's supposed to reassure that scarves don't need to be worn only around the neck (a la Christine Lagarde and Theresa May). Most of H's marketing and promotional budget goes towards making scarves appeal to a younger more 'fashion conscious' set.

I also think that they're hinting at wearing scarves as hijab. There's a large and lucrative market there, but they might be worried that their original French market would be turned off by a specifically hijabi style. So they style it in the pirate look, many people say, "Youthful! Fresh!" and many other people say, "Ah, that's how that center pattern would look around my face..."

Yes - Hermes is making an effort to appeal to all but my Muslim friends and colleagues are put off by the silk because they just find it slips off their hair styles too easily and they have to keep fussing. They stick to cotton for purely practical reasons. Many Hermes styles are also a bit too 'look at me!' for the ladies who choose the hijab in the UK.

I've never seen anyone use their Hermes scarf in the pirate style in real life - I have a hard enough time keeping mine around my neck with multiple knots. I suppose I'm just a style disaster area. I have many generations of the scarf knotting cards for guidance but I can't find a style that looks right on me except the trusty 'equestrian'.

Interesting - in my not-wealthy neighborhood in a wealthy city, most head scarves I see in shops are inexpensive polyester - they seem like they'd be super slippery, so I figured there was some secret I was missing. :)

I've never seen a pirate style in real life except with much smaller bandannas - I would think all the weight in the ends would pull it right off my head.

I have seen ladies who have had chemo go for dressing up with h silk. I think its a great way to use it under a sun hat too a la Georgia O'Keefe.

This is the first explanation of the point of the head-scarf modeling that has made sense to me. I thank you for it: now that the view has a clear purpose, I am not quite as annoyed by H's choice to show it.

It's hard to explain: I think the style looks nice on the real-life folks who can pull it off (e.g., the ways described in the posts above), but the online image of it gives so little information I need about how the scarf hangs that I ended up feeling frustrated with H, and that's not how I want to feel when I'm browsing scarves for fun and relaxation.

I know it's irrational, but I actually returned a perfectly nice Bal des Oiseaux once because the head-scarf picture online irritated me so much. I couldn't put the scarf on without getting all grumpy, thinking of that giant bird-butt front and center on that photo: http://media.hermes.com/media/catalog/product/import/S/S01/S011/item/worn/zoom/H002788S-10.jpg

Totally unfair to the poor scarf, I know.

I did that... a pretty H scarf, a pair of earrings, a bit of lipstick... even bald, I felt very nearly fashionable! :lol:

Not a fan of the pirate look but the gals in the film does pull it off!!

But my favourite look would be the silk tied at the pony tail ~

I know people are excited about how the new fall scarves are going to be styled but it's really off topic for this thread. Please feel free to continue these thoughts elsewhere in the Hermes subforum; there are many existing scarf threads. Thank you!

Dear Angelian.. Yes you are corret'! My infos from earlier on were not so accurate... here the latest intel:

The Robot scarf is called: "Flamboyant Web" its a 100 size in Cashmere and silk

The big scarf on the right is "Force Centrifuge" its a 140 Wool and Silk

The 3 scarfs knoted in the middle are; "Imprimeur Fou Courvetures d' ex Libirs" 140 cashmere silk (My favorite in this season BY FAAAAR)

besides these 3 there are also two more formats:
"Cent Pois" a 90 size in Wool and Silk (this must be the ones on the bottom left that Cavalla thought might be "discours Amoreux"

"Harnais de Cabriolet" 100 size in Cashmere and Silk -this desight I havent spotet on any pics yet....

Thanks for the updated list WeN! Here are some updates for the men's scarves, as per an earlier post by Pegase.

90cm Wool-Silk
Cent Pois (no h.com pics yet)
100cm CS
Flamboyant Web
H103160T - ?? ---> Harnais de Cabriolet?
140cm Wool-Silk
H553199T - ?? ---> Force Centrifuge
140cm CSGM
Imprimeur Fou Couvertures d'Ex Libris (no h.com pics yet)

And have we seen pics of the women's 90cm The Horscars by Elias Kafouros (designer of Route 24 and And The Winner Is)? I don't remember seeing anything that resembles these two scarves (but I may have overdosed on all the posted scarves :biggrin:).

Also, am I going crazy or are these losanges with design? I recognize the border of Balade en Berline on one of them. We have yet to see these too right?
