I think many feel the same. These don't look like most H GMs but they do seem to translate better into everyday wear, GMs that need never be put away. The big cats on a GM ironically looked too tame on me and although my SA was mumbling "get it, get it, get it" like a mantra, and I already have Dallet silk, I didn't invest, whereas (if I can find the right colour - and it's not likely to be the black) I really could go for some 'messy' dressage horses.

Neutrals are totally fine. I buy at least one neutral almost every season, and always bring one with me when I travel as they go with different outfits so easily. The thing is that with Dallet and now the Pirouette au Galop, I don't feel that they will make you feel like you have more than one shawl by tying it differently, like for example tyger tyger. It's a lot of blank neutral area with some delicate strokes. It's definitely very elegant when worn. But how many of these do I need, or even as a not so rational H fan like me, how many of these will I want? Neutrals are especially tricky. Most people have only a range of neutrals that could compliment their complexations. It's like finding the right nude pumps. H is so good at making the ordinary things extraordinary, I just hope that they can put more thoughts into the simple neutrals by coming up with interesting little twist, maybe like a coloriage or carres en carres kind of options to make an white / cream / oatmeal / gray / black neutrals to work on those who would otherwise look washed out with any of these. Maybe they will eventually. But I might have already had all the simple elegant neutrals in my collection by then. :whut::no::facepalm::blah:

Oh, and in addition to the note that Hermès should label the men's scarves unisex, they should really ad just a bit more (less sombre but still "neutral") CWs. And a few more designs too, look at all the different ones we women get to choose from every season and what the men (and we who like them too) have to get by on! :p

I agree with you but I think it primarily has to do with marketing and business structure. There is currently no 'unisex' heading on H.com or a unisex dept. I already work with 2 different SAs to reserve scarves because the the scarves are in completely different depts (and only a metre away from each other). Shopping these days has more to do with target markets rather than accommodating potential buyers.

I can see many male tpers happily plundering some the women's GMs and silks, no hesitation, and vice versa, but though some of us don't mind a little 'gender-fluid' shopping, perhaps there are plenty more that need more 'guidance'. Traditionally too, women are much more used to 'co-opting' pieces from their opposite sex partner's wardrobe whereas still plenty of men worry all scarves bar a plain wool are too 'fancy'. Brands understand this. H work hard at providing a designated and defined male area especially so that some men don't feel too challenged by the idea of scarves generally. Having a more 'rugged' knot where the design is not discernible may be part of that pattern too.

As for the pirate look, that's all in aid of showing how fashionable and youthful a 90 is. H know older customers will still buy 'youthfully styled' products but that younger cliental worry about carres looking 'matronly'. It's supposed to reassure that scarves don't need to be worn only around the neck (a la Christine Lagarde and Theresa May). Most of H's marketing and promotional budget goes towards making scarves appeal to a younger more 'fashion conscious' set.

OK, so slightly OT now, but I will admit I am liking the brown horses on cream. Happily, it seems I am usually set apart with my colour choices. Brown is still lacking in my H-scarf wardrobe.

This!! Some (a lot) of my friends only realize how fashionable and versatile scarves are / could be when I'm not wrapping them around my neck! Not that I'm that young, but wearing silk scarf isn't part of the culture where I grew up.

(Sorry to be a bit off topic again, will throw in some on topic at the end for good measure!)
You are right about it being a marketing and business decisions, labelling them unisex would probably scare off most men! But they still should consider adding a bit more designs and CWs.

With regards to the targeted youthfullness of H, I understand that completely. Being an H newbie (and youngish), just a short time ago I never would have thought Hermès made such fantastic scarves as well as other items. The more traditional designs aren't for me. And I don't do ladylike. But H still has a bit of a 'classic' stamp to most? (And now I'm hooked, adore most of their products and especially love the clean lines and cool edgy look of their leather bracelets.)
If they indeed want to appeal more to a younger crowd, they should also take into account that these are people that are most likely to shop (at least initially) online and therefore the image H portrays is very very important. Of course, all of us here have discovered tPF and as a result can see multiple pics of a scarf we intent to buy. Or even one that we didn't intend to, but has been shown its wonderful potential by a tPFer! Therefore we don't depend on their pics too much. But for potential new clientèle, with Hermès choosing just to use one type of model and just one flat and one knotted pic of each scarf, they aren't doing themselves any favours IMHO. Use different models and skintypes, show different knots and add at least one detailed pic of each scarf.

Now on topic: as for the designs I loved from the various press day pics (Space Shopping and Canadian Wild) I must say, like others here have mentioned, I was a bit disappointed by the CWs. Especially for the Canadian Wild I expected to maybe even get more than one, but that isn't going to happen. And Space Shopping I will only be purchasing in the gavroche, as I love the design but there isn't that one perfect CW for me. Of course, provided I can find the CWs of my choice in my local boutiques or online!

This one would be the ideal one

I can't quite comprehend how much I love your mix and match!
For the split second I thought it was actually a cw to be released!
I wish H could do what Lego does, inviting entries and make a design that everybody loves come true!

These exact 3 cw are what I fancy and now I am torn ... I can't justify to get 3 and now I m more inclined to the black one

Can H offer SO for scarves one day please?

After successful and unsuccessful purchases, I came to think exactly as you Pocketbook Pup. It's easier to wear bright 70's and 90's, but the CSGMs I use the most are the ones whose colors match my outerwear in fall and winter or that are pastel or neutral.

I too, love intricate designs, but the colors have to be chosen wisely so as not have buyer's remorse later. I try not to buy on impulse, but to think on it a little bit.

I am grateful to dear Ksuromax, Cavalla and Yodaling for generously providing us with all the information we need to study the upcoming designs in advance and make the best decisions that suit our style and our wardrobe. It saves so much time and the whole process becomes so enjoyable. Reading the comments also sometimes makes me feel like this is one big group of friends shopping at the store together. Thank you all! [emoji171][emoji170][emoji172][emoji169][emoji173]️[emoji175]

Hah, I am not that fashionable - i pretty much throw on whatever CSGM floats my boat. Whether it "matches" or not, I don't really care that much. I wear a lot of black and grey and black/grey/white/red patterns - so I kind of view the shawl/scarf as something to make me look a little more interesting.

I view it almost as much as a utility as an umbrella is - I don't really care if the umbrella matches, it is just utility to me. I choose scarves based on how they make me feel and if the color way is something that I haven't had before or if it is more interesting.

Thank you. I'm flattered. :hbeat: I'm thinking about black too but I usually look ill with a lot of black, definitely need some make up! So I'm a bit worried that I will not be able to wear this specific CW alone.. Hopefully it won't be the case.
