I have to admit that was one of the reasons I almost did not get it: I was afraid wearing it will remind me of what was/is going on there. When I was younger I wanted to become an archaeologist and the main researcher of Palmyra died with his city. But on the other hand it honours a strong woman.

My first degree was in Ancient History and Archaeology and I did quite a lot of digging on various sites. Not Palmyra though!

If I were you and had the money ready I would not wait. At the moment they offer free shipping and it does not say for how long they will do so. And things tend to disappear without a warning. My grail can still be ordered from the US website, but is impossible to get in Europe :nogood:

Order two, try them on, send one back :graucho:

Sadly, it takes me a long time to save up just enough money to buy one scarf. DH would have a complete fit if he realised the full price of even one 90cm! I am not really in the Hermès league at all. More a Marks and Spencer girl :D

I vote for Hippopolis because your love of history and archaeology. Next choice is L'Arbe agree with Croisette. The silkies here are amazing with their color memory. I have no clue about the number references lol. We love choosing silks though, so are delighted to help your find one HH! You look lovely in your photo dear.

The secret is to order at the beginning of the "credit card month", right after getting the bill. Then you will have the refund for the scarf you sent back on the same bill as the original charge for the two. (I hope that makes sense, not a native speaker :shame:)

My money tree just started growing, so I am experienced at things like that. We do not have Marks and Spencer here, but H&M. That and various sales is where my stuff comes from. And it is always a pleasure to see how a scarf turns cheap clothes into an outfit.

Thank you! Loving all of these suggestions. I have until the beginning of December to decide, so I hope UK Hermès.com does not sell out when I do! That would be really annoying. Has happened before. I lost the chance for a blue Voyage de Pytheas last year.

HermesHopeI've PMd you about the way I shop on line from Hermès, see what you think.

I get the feeling that ,unlike hardened offenders like myself , you don't go much for buying on Ebay?
I can only say it's a load of fun, and a chance for acquiring lovely pieces for a fraction of the cost , granted not form recent collections .

My two pennyworth on your choices is that I found your delicate colouring was so lovely with the lilac Escales ,and so I think I would go for the Zenobie 01 which looks so superb tied as shown by Honeylocks.
Sieste is a wonderful design but I have tried it a few times and am on the fence because somehow it didn't suit my clothes style which is similar to your own .
It seems quite a standout piece that would look good with a sharp jacket ,whereas Zenobie is so soft and feminine and will be perfect against a lovely cashmere sweater.
Bet that DH of yours will love it too!

I really like that one, but am wondering if it might be too dark for me. I am beginning to realise that lighter, fresher colours work on me best as I get older. My hair was much darker a few years ago! It is still on my list, though :smile1:

Thanks for your help :smile1:

I won't be able to check out the cws until I get to my computer, but did have a stray thought on the CI. It is a beautiful scarf, but many that I have seen have blanc matte, or a lovely metallic overlay in some sections. It is a fabulous way to highlight and enhance colors, but it can make the scarf stiffer to the touch. I don't know if this would make a difference to you, sometimes I really just want to feel the fabulous softness of H silk!

Just tossing this out for your consideration.

I am having a real dilemma and I wonder if you kind tPFers could help me. I will have saved up enough for a new 90cm by the beginning of December, but I am totally stuck between several choices.

I have posted pics before, so you have an idea of my colouring - sort of strawberry blond hair, green eyes, pale skin with a tendency to flush. Sorry this is a bit blurred.

My wardrobe colours are: basics - navy and browns, mainly tan; accent colours - turquoise and the aqua family, purples and lilacs, with some coral and ivory. I am phasing out black and grey as they make me look even more ill!

I spend most of my time in bed or at least sitting in the house. When I go out, I usually wear jeans with cashmere jumpers and cardigans, or t shirts. I rarely dress up.

So, I love a lot of scarves from this season and have already got two. I have to buy via UK Hermès.com as I cannot travel, so it is difficult to see the true colours of the silks.

My favourites are:

Zénobie cw 01 pale pink, dark purple, turquoise

Sieste au Paradis CW 07 honey, green, turquoise

Collections Imperials CW 16 dark slate, turquoise, brown

Arbre du Vent CW 12 blue, fuchsia, turquoise

You can see how much I love turquoise! :D

I also like a 70cm A la Plume CW 19 blue, green, white

Well, of course I actually love loads more!

So, I would be so grateful if you could give me your opinions as to which would suit me best. It is so hard to make the right choice on my own and I cannot afford to make a mistake. Also, if there are other CWs or scarves that you think would be better, please suggest them.

I know this is a lot to ask, but I would really appreciate your help.

All are truly beautiful choices. This season provided us all with many fabulous options...one of the best seasons in years IMO.

Of the ones you are considering I like Sieste the best for the design but L'arbre du Vent may be the best choice for you as that pop of fuchsia really would look smashing on you, I think. Collections Imperiales is my 2nd favourite pattern of this season [so much so that bought the twilly just so I could own the pattern...I try to limit to one new 90 per season] but the colorway you are considering is quite dark. Zenobie is also lovely but I feel as if that pale pink right in the center is just asking to be soiled! haha. There is quite a lot of it on this scarf.

So my vote would be for L'Arbre du Vent for you :D

As a side note, since you live in England, you could likely call up one of the London stores and have it shipped to you in case the website does not have it in stock come December. Don't stress too much about "losing out" since these are still current season designs.

Hello Hermes Hope. You selected so many lovely choices. My vote is for L'Arbre du Vent in color way 12. I think that it is a strong contender for the most beautiful 90 of the season! I am sure you would love it.

Do greens work well for you? You remind me of spring. Like a lilac bunch, pale soft colors. Would a delicate spring green work with your coloring?

Hi everyone
I am debating whether to buy L'arbre du Vent in cw22 (the black back ground) and I was wondering if anyone has any modelling pics please?
Thanks

I just read almost the whole thread and found ceci's photos so I bought the cw22! yay!

But if anyone has modelling shots of the CSGM Cavaliers du Caucase cw16 (neutral/black/orange) I would be forever grateful.

Thanks xo
