Variety is fine -it’s when LV only sells one kind of “official” strap to go with the piece that’s kind of a bummer. The
Gucci Blondie series is being sold with two straps per piece, so why can’t Louis do that too? Gucci allows the owner to pick and choose how the piece will fit into their lifestyle/outfit for the day.
And I don’t want to be told to “accept the times” with fabric straps, because we all know that eventually they will go out of fashion. I don’t treat luxury purchases like fast fashion, so I buy with the intention to keep for years, maybe decades, to come. And not every outfit/situation looks good with a wide fabric strap that has “Louis Vuitton” emblazoned across it. I don’t mind having a fabric strap, since I do like them too, but I would
appreciate the option for a matching leather strap.
Ideally, I’d love it if LV sold regular leather straps with the pieces, and made the fabric straps as separate accessories to buy. They could make way more money that way too. The cost of raw materials would be lower with the fabric, and they can just mark up the item itself as a “seasonal color/item”.
I have been wanting the Bubblegram Alma BB in glacier blue since it came out, but that fabric strap has stopped me every time. My current clothes that would go well with the color would not go well with the strap. My clothes that would go with the thick strap would not go well with the color.
Clothing, for me, is an extension of “who I am.” It’s the first thing other people see, so even if I’m wearing a bunch of neons and sparkly jewelry, it still has to be well thought out and cohesive. If you aren’t going to give me true freedom to pick and choose, then give me the “safer” option, because at least I have something to fall back on for every possible situation.
