I just wish they offered leather strap as an option too. Not go full blown Jacquard strap with seasonal colors with no other options.
Totally agree. They have raised all of the prices too, so they should offer a leather strap with seasonal and permanent colors. I don't know why they don't. I like the Alma bb--one of my favorite bags. But I think the fabric straps are annoying.

I looked at the fabric strap that the Alma bb comes with in person and I really didn’t like it for me. It’s too wide and short for me. And if you get a color it’s hard to find a replacement strap to match. I was disappointed as I need a strap as an option. So for those of you who have the fabric strap, do you use it? Or something else instead?

I’m not a fan of the Jacquard strap. I wish they still used leather straps—guess you can always buy an McCraft. Not ideal.
Haha. I cant remember which thread I was on, on this website, but someone said that people who don’t like the fabric straps are “legacy” LV lovers -that they’re stuck in decades past and need to change with the times because the jacquard strap is fashionable and here to stay.

Like, ok… I still have a couple of years before I turn 30, and I don’t like the fabric straps.

Jacquard straps are comfy and definitely “in” right now, but understand that once you use the strap enough times, it will pill and show signs of wear much faster than leather. Wide fabric straps can also be hard to pull off too. I see more people looking like “overworked moms” than “sporty chic.”

I’m sorry, but it has to be said: Not everyone who purchases luxury items is as fashionable as they think they are. That’s why a thinner leather strap is actually a “better” option. It is so much easier to dress up or down for most people.

I actually ordered couple other straps from Etsy - one chain-like that has leather woven into it (Chanel style, if you know what i mean) and other just pale vachetta like one for my other bags.

I like variety!

Variety is fine -it’s when LV only sells one kind of “official” strap to go with the piece that’s kind of a bummer. The Gucci Blondie series is being sold with two straps per piece, so why can’t Louis do that too? Gucci allows the owner to pick and choose how the piece will fit into their lifestyle/outfit for the day.

And I don’t want to be told to “accept the times” with fabric straps, because we all know that eventually they will go out of fashion. I don’t treat luxury purchases like fast fashion, so I buy with the intention to keep for years, maybe decades, to come. And not every outfit/situation looks good with a wide fabric strap that has “Louis Vuitton” emblazoned across it. I don’t mind having a fabric strap, since I do like them too, but I would appreciate the option for a matching leather strap.

Ideally, I’d love it if LV sold regular leather straps with the pieces, and made the fabric straps as separate accessories to buy. They could make way more money that way too. The cost of raw materials would be lower with the fabric, and they can just mark up the item itself as a “seasonal color/item”.

I have been wanting the Bubblegram Alma BB in glacier blue since it came out, but that fabric strap has stopped me every time. My current clothes that would go well with the color would not go well with the strap. My clothes that would go with the thick strap would not go well with the color.

Clothing, for me, is an extension of “who I am.” It’s the first thing other people see, so even if I’m wearing a bunch of neons and sparkly jewelry, it still has to be well thought out and cohesive. If you aren’t going to give me true freedom to pick and choose, then give me the “safer” option, because at least I have something to fall back on for every possible situation.

I completely agree with all your points. I bought my Alma bb in Epi to NOT have Louis Vuitton or LV anywhere on my bag (except the bottom right corner). Having that fabric strap defeats the purpose when Louis Vuitton in written in huge letters. It is really a bummer they can't offer both options.

I just got my first alma bb.

I did inspect her at the store but now I am noticing these minor things. I just wanted to ask whether this is normal? Like does the zipper not go all the way down on both side? Mine has one side that goes very low and another side where you can peek in :P And the handles/stitching does not look the same to me. Also where the handles attach there is 6 stitches with double stitching .. but I heard that was normal .
There is a link for all the pictures if you guys wanted to see everything close up. I do not hope I offend anyone with my questions, as I do tend to overthink so I just wanted to be sure and hear your opinions. Thank you

Interesting. I don't have a Alma but I do see what you are referring to, except for the 4th pic which is towards the top of the bag. I do not see anything of concern there. Is the fabric of the zipper not aligned or laying flat? Re the extra stiching on the handles towards the base that may be for reinforcement. It looks neat and tidy so I wouldn't be concerned. I just checked my DE speedy 25 Classic handles and I do not have the extra stiching but now I wish I did as that sounds like a good idea! In checking I saw a piece of my glazing is not there! Uuugh! I just got this bag a few weeks ago. I didn't inspect my handles there so I don't know if that was my doing or not, but it is what it is at this point. Uuugh. I may tell my SA so there is a record of it in case it gets worse but heck! The 2 different stiching patterns on your top handles is weird! It's like the maker just grabbed 2 already made top handles from the assembly table and put them on your bag. I watched a video of the making of LV bags at an actual LV warehouse and there are different people in charge of different parts of your bag. It's not one person that sews your bag up from start to finish in the "common" type bags but maybe on the exotics there is. The glazing on your handles are not perfect but imo they wouldn’t bother me unless they make the handke have a different shape where they are not matching. I cant tell in the pic. Since you have multiple things going on, if you are not happy I would talk to your SA and see if they will allow you to exchange. If you just got the bag and havent used it, you most definitely can exchsnge, and may still be able to if ypu have a great relationship with your SA. The bag should be perfect. The zipper alignment from end to end really should be perfect as well...the entire bag should be but that isn't always the case. Bottom line, if you are not happy, take your Alma, LV box, bag and receipt to your SA and discuss the flaws. Don't be intimated. Believe me, the majority of us are picky about our new bags we spend top dollar for, theyare definitely used to it! Lol. You should be happy. With that said I'm notifying my SA now about my glazing! Lol

Oh the 4th picture is very minor.. its the red interior of the bag showing through the stitch. It actually does not bother me that much, its more that the zipper does not start the same place on both end ( I do not know if thats normal, i would love to see others alma bb) and the different stitching on the handles its weird too :hrmm: I know the glazing at the handles can be difficult to get very smooth, so I am not too concerned about this either. I still have time to return the bag or do an exchange, so I will let my SA know about my concerns and see what he thinks. But congrats with your new speedy, I hope that your SA understands , and Thank you again for taking your time with me complaining:lol:
