I've had a look at my bag which was purchased from Melbourne boutique early in 2013, and the serial number looks the same. The straps on my bag don't have any embossing at all that I could see. As for the metal tabs, they all say CHANEL on 1 side & have the CC on the other side of the same metal tab. Hope this info helps. I'm in no way an expert for Chanel products or nor do I know how to authenticate any of their bags, but maybe if you post the same info on 1 of the links where the experts can see, they may be able to help you know in certain. Goodluck but IMO the bag looks fine.

Thank you so much for your help! I have inspected the bag with a fine tooth comb and there's nothing that suggests its not authentic, I just wanted to be sure the strap clips don't have to have chanel on them as a review video I watched suggested :-) I will post some pics in another thread but I'm satisfied its ok.

My mom got this tote as a present (not from ^that site though, that's just for reference). Is it the real thing? It came with the box and everything (not sure about the authenticity card, it's been too long). Is it just a very old model? We were suspicious for 2 reasons:

1. We've never seen a cerf tote look like that and
2. When we walked into a chanel boutique, one of the SAs kept eyeing it like it was a fake or something :/

Hello all

For those of you who are considering getting a cerf, I thought I might post a picture of mine after quite some uses (I use it a lot for travellings), they don't hold up their shapes well, but I personally love that slouchy look. - i hope this helps! photo.jpg

I just checked all three of my cerfs for you, I bought the first one 3-4 years ago I think (so it is the "older" one i suppose), and I loved it so muchI bought two more since, the last one was about a year ago. All the clasps on the removable straps are pretty basic, they don't have any chanel logos on them, I haven't used any of straps I just kept them in the bags, and I bought all three at the boutiques (two in Toronto, one in NYC). I hope this helps, and hopefully can bring you a peace of mind. :)

I don't get bothered much by the slouchy look too. But I do prefer it more structured. So I wear a base shaper on mine and therefore doesn't stay slouchy. So I guess anyone concerned about the slouchiness can prevent it by using a base shaper too. It's such a great bag and I get compliments for it often ☺️

Does anyone know what colors are available right now...and perhaps what will be available for fall. I have a GST and WOC, thought of purchasing a flap but the jumbo is really the only option that will hold anything at all...and IMO the small and medium just look nicer. I think I will find the Cerf a lot more what I am looking for in a bag...I want to carry all my things with me most of the time. I would like a gray one...is that an option?
