Thank you for the information Jillybean- some are so quick to dismiss her efforts, implying she just swooped in and picked out a child like a handbag because she had a big check.

Congrats to her and Pax. Now I hope she is through having anymore kids for a while.

Time to start shooting Sin City 2 Angie *fingers crossed*.

Jillybean, thank you for the information.

As far as the comment about Madonna adopting illegally, I mean, someone allowed it to happen, and I think more blame should be placed on the agency that let her get away with it. If I was someone who desperately wanted to adopt a child, and the agency made it easy for me to do it, I wouldn't turn them away. I don't think Madonna should be blamed, she didn't put a gun to anyone and say, give me the child or I'll shoot.

Overall, I feel bad for the people who want to adopt, and have to wait forever...however, it can't be a bad thing for the child. He will have a chance at a better life.

Something about people who are against this just seems selfish to me. Why wouldn't you want the child in a home? It's seems childish..."if I can't have a child, then you can't either"

It's official, the Jolie-Pitts have a new member! At 9AM in Vietnam, Angelina and Maddox (who accompanied his mother to Vietnam) participated in the official adoption ceremony to welcome Pax Thien Jolie (renamed from Pham Quang Sang) into their family. Pax Thien, who has been in the orphanage since 2003, allegedly cried during the ceremony, but his new mom and brother were there to comfort him. From here, Angelina only has to meet with Vietnamese adoption officials and arrange for his passport before being able to bring him home to meet the rest of the family. This next while will surely be a bit of a culture shock (to say the least) for the new little one, but I'm sure the entire Jolie-Pitt clan will do everything they can to ensure his transition is as seamless as possible. His life will surely be different under the care of Angelina and Brad, but he will certainly be surrounded with love (and soccer balls). Congratulations to the family!

3-year-old Pax Thien Jolie, who lived in this orphanage just outside Ho Chi Minh City. People is reporting that Angelina, accompanied by Maddox, took custody of the boy, who is a bit shy, earlier today. Pax means peace in Latin, Thien means sky in Vietnemese, so the boy's name is Peaceful Sky! Very fitting for the sibling of Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh! Congrats to the newly expanded family!

My friends have waited 22 mos. to get approved in Vietnam for a child from 0-5 years old. They've been told by officials there that a "donation" will "speed things up". They refuse to bribe officials to get a child. Angelina gave a huge "donation" and had this child in a matter of weeks. You can make your own decisions about what happened there.

As for my friends, they have now concentrated their efforts on Haiti and are working with a Christian based agency who have been very encouraging about their prospects for adopting a child sometime this year.

I'm praying your friends get a child soon! :)

AJ is a high-profile celeb. She doesn't need to donate anything and the Viet Cong would still give her any kid she wants in a heart beat. I bet the Vietnam government is loving every minute of attention they are getting...priceless.

Alot of things in this world aren't fair and people all over abuse their power. We all hear of people getting jobs because of their last name instead of someone who is qualified for example.
I'm sure she did not pick Vietnam just because she could grease the wheels. And even if she did, an orphan has a wonderful new home and will probably even barely remember the first years of his life. No need to punish a child because their gov't is corrupt.

Even with that said, I admire the integrity of your friends. I hope they can get their new addition this year.
