The Borough Bag

Hi, I don't own any Boroughs yet, but would soon like to get one. Unfortunately, the colors that I would like to buy are not included in the pre-sale. :(. The Boroughs they do have are now at 40% off. If I were you and really wanted this bag, I would buy one at the pre-sale.

You can always return it later if a better deal comes along. You can't rely on the Outlets though. FYI, sadly all black Boroughs are NOT included in this pre-sale. Good luck!

Your best bet might be Macy's friends and family sale- all Coach (including boroughs) are 25% off through Monday.

Hey everyone. I need your opinions... I am a dude who really loves the design and minimalism of the Borough bag. I wish Coach had a similar bag in the men's section but unfortunately they don't. I envy some of the greatly designed bags you all have to pick from. I feel the mens bags are seriously lacking and I hope it changes with Stuart Vevers coming to Coach. I have been seriously thinking of getting the XL Borough in Glove Tanned leather to use as a work bag or overnight bag even especially now that it's 40% off in the presale. Please let me know what you all think. I want to thank you in advance for your helpful comments and thoughts. :) I own several coach mens totes in leather and canvas as well as a legacy scout bag, so I'm no stranger to coach. ;)

At that size and weight, this bag should be in the men's section in the first place. The only thing to consider is the triple compartment which makes it difficult to just throw bulky stuff in but perfect for tablets/small laptops and papers/books, very organized and easy to find. On me at 5 feet, this would be a luggage looking for a pushcart.:sweatdrop:

Absolutely. There is no reason you cannot do this. :urock:

I find the large and xl boroughs to be suitable for women and men because of its size . I own 2 Large Borough in glove tanned leather and i use them for work , it's my workhorse bag :) I'm 5'5 130 lbs .

Thanks Wplijnaar! Is it pretty sturdy then for a work bag? Do you happen to have a pic of the glove tanned leather? Is it more brown or caramel? The online pics coach has can sometimes look different than what it looks like in person. :)

I have the large warm gray color, very neutral color, and large camel IMO it's more caramel color... Very sturdy durable bag it fits a lot. I really like the minimal design of this bag . It keeps its shape better than the pebbled leather. I don't have pic of the bags, I'm actually out of town at d moment otherwise I will take pics of them ...

Are the Boroughs in Glove leather fingerprint-y? I have never seen one IRL and they look a bit shiny in photos. Does this leather have to be babied? Thanks

I have it in Camel and I don't think it shows finger prints at all. With this leather you need to be extra careful of scratches because they would be very obvious but other than that its a very hardy leather. You can use both the Coach cleaner and moisturizer on it.

I think the XL borough would look great on a man. The size and the clean lines would make a great men's briefcase.

All well designed minimalist large bags can be unisex in my opinion.

I agree that men's bags or fashion in generally are lacking in style or fashion details, for example in men's section of tees, a tee is just a tee, probably with varying prints on the front but that's about it, whereas ladies' tees have different shapes, cutting, designs and stuff that are not just limited to prints, so I have always felt men's fashion are definitely boring.

Bags don't have genitals so I don't see why it can only be a ladies bag. I strongly dislike the way some people associate things with genders, i.e. pink only for ladies, blue only for men; handbags for ladies, messenger bags for men only. I mean put it the other way round, many ladies use men stuff, why can't men use ladies stuff? Makes life with so many limited options, and this I think is very stupid.

IMHO the Coach Borough Bag is one bag that really suits fine on both ladies and men, it's such a fantastic design and shape, and neutral in every way if you look at it alone. Once it's worn on a lady it'd make the lady look very elegant; while on a man it'd look like a wonderful everyday bag / briefcase that's big enough to fit documents, MacBook Air, etc.

If people give you weird looks, screw them! Don't give a toss about them who have very narrow-minded brains and they live only inside a box set with a narrow list of strict rules of social norms that were probably derived from the 19th century. They should learn to accept others have their own tastes and preferences, and embrace life that changes everyday and moves on. Again, put it the other way, in the medieval times tights used to be men's thing, now it's ladies fasion; UGG boots initially started off as men's items (soldiers specifically speaking); same goes to riding boots until we kind of stole them to be our fashion items. The war had a lot to do with changes in fashion and stuff, but there is no reason why men can't use stuff that were originally their own, or reverse the trend like how things did in favour of ladies.

If you like it then get it!! It's such a wonderful bag! Just one advice though: don't hold it on your arm or how you wear it on your shoulder like how ladies do. See these images below and you'll see what I mean;

Get a wider strap for crossbody wearing, not as wide as the image below, that'd ruin the great appearance of the Borough, but get one about 1 inch wide. That'd look good on men. :D

I have absolutely no problem with men using ladies stuff, if that means making life and fashion a bit more interesting. Just make sure you know how to make yourself look good! Thumbs up from me!
