Has anyone got this striped coat? It looks lovely but not sure how practical a nautical
style (I associate with spring/summer) is on a coat…
I love stripes in the winter and have tons of striped sweaters/cardigans.

For the coat in the photo (looks more like a long cardigan to me than a real coat)...
The problem is not so much the stripes. Rather, it is the fabric and color.
The fabric looks thin, so naturally, it will be more a spring/summer look.
The color of the white stripe is a bit too "white" to be viewed as fall/winter.
Also, for me, the stripes are a bit too thin for that type coat. I would prefer if the stripes were a bit thicker for a chunkier presence given it's a coat (otherwise, it looks like a light spring cardigan).

That's just my two cents. It's a nice cardigan, but for me, it would be tough to pull off for a fall/winter look given the fabric (like wearing linen in the winter, even though it's navy linen).

If you might like an oversized striped cardigan, how about this one?

I have this cardigan in both colors and love it. It's nice and thick, a very casual cool look.

I actually love La Ligne and have a lot of their sweaters.
They make great stripes, and since you like stripes, I thought I would share with you.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your decision.

Thank you, you have articulated this so well. And yes- the thinness of the stripes - thicker would have been better.! Thanks for the suggestions, will check it out.

I had rehomed a number of my max max coats as too oversized, but realized I kept this flat finish, A line pea coat that I purchased in the 1990s. Bought it in either Florence or Rome from Max Mara. (Looking at it, I recall I was very into navy blue and Jil Sander styling at the time). It is roomy and nice as a transitional top coat.

So... for those of you who have been kind enough to read my posts, you may know I love big collars for coats as they frame the face beautifully.

One Max Mara coat I love is the Rialto. It is a short coat, and it has a gorgeous shawl collar. The deal breaker for me however is the hood. The hood has so much weight, and it keeps pulling the neckline back, so no Rialto for me.:heart:

I wanted a cool weather cashmere cardigan with a big collar, and I found exactly what I have been looking for! Hence, I want to share.

N. Peal is a UK brand that focuses on quality cashmere pieces. I buy their sweaters, and I just bought this cardigan.

The cashmere cardigan is a nice weight with structure as you can see on the model (not those thin wimpy cardigans) The cashmere knit pattern is gorgeous. The best part is the big shawl collar!  Another feature I love is the huge patch pocket, so chic!
Finally, the second best part about this cardigan is the sleeve. Most cashmere cardigans are cut with thin sleeves which means you can only wear thin pieces underneath. Otherwise, the arms look lumpy worn with a thicker sweater. This cardigan has full sleeves which works great with sweaters!

The model wears it dressed up, but I like it worn casual with sweaters and jeans. I really love this piece; hence I wanted to share in case anyone might be interested.

Glad you kept it-it really suits you..
I bought a Rialto in U.K. 2 a few years ago, but changed my mind and returned it.
Since then they’ve doubled in price-I regret returning it, although I usually wear shearling in the winter, and the winters in the U.K. are very wet and I was worried that it would shrink or not be adequate.
Also, it was very oversized..

Hi everyone
I am debating between a Rialto coat in camel and the Manuela also in camel. I like both but my lifestyle goes more into the Rialto direction. However, I feel the belt is not long enough and you barely can knot it twice (aka the max mara way). I also feel it emphasizes my torso and look a bit square. Unfortunately , I don't have pictures of this coat.

The Manuela is also beautiful and a bit too long but I can live with it. The belt is also long enough. Both coats are size 36 and at some point I wanted them in blue but somehow the camel stood out to me. Which one would you recommend?

Also, I live in Germany and I am afraid they won’t be warm enough for -5/0 degrees celsius. The sales associate assured me it is definitely warm enough but I am not sure. In your experience, are these coats really warm?

Thank you! I leave a bad pic of the Manuela.

Hi Max Mara coats fans! Any recommendations on how to efficiently pack a Max Mara coat for travel? I just use the garment bag but was wondering is there any other way to do it to save space? Maybe a large packing compression cube? air vacuum bag? Not planning on wearing it on the plane.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! I have both so will chime in.
The Rialto is a more "youthful" look imo. I think it is due to the length (above the knee for me, and I am ~161cm) and the large hood. I think the Rialto is flexible, though -- I have worn it in both work context and for casual outings with friends. I have also seen others wear similarly shaped coats (or the exact Rialto coat in black/navy) at professional work events.

The Manuela is, in my opinion, a more "formal" coat. I wouldn't really wear it on a casual day with friends, but I've worn it to outdoor weddings, plenty of work events/conferences, and to work / office as well. I also think because the manuela is longer, it is a warmer coat than the Rialto.

Both are lined with viscose.

I am glad to have both. I get a better cost per wear with the Rialto because I am short (so it suits me a bit better) and because I wear in both casual and formal settings. However, I still inexplicably like the Manuela more. I think because it makes me feel more mature? But the cost per wear of the Rialto is truthfully better for me.

I also have the 101801 in black. I find the fabric to fuzz up a lot / pick up a lot of fuzz, and it's not as soft as camelhair. I prefer the camelhair coats from Max Mara.

Had been thinking of the camel Madame but the seasonal pink blew my mind away. The price and worry about moth damage scares me. And would this pink last a long time with all the dry cleaning? due to it being a lighter colour? It’s seasonal so it might go in the sales but the sizes might not be available…

This pink is stunning. Did you finally purchase this one? I love it too, but I am having the same questions as you regarding the delicacy of this soft pink...

Hi Max mara coat lovers! I am relatively new to the brand. I have a black Resina coat (MM weekend) and I love it but am looking for a 2nd, more 'special' coat, preferably in a pink or beige colour.

I love the Madame style but feel the style is very similar to my Resina?

The Teddy looks so comfy, would this be a suitable coat for Belgian winters? I love the pink. Does anyone have experience with this colour, would it stain easily? TIA!
