The beauty of MAX MARA coats...(photos please)

So... for those of you who have been kind enough to read my posts, you may know I love big collars for coats as they frame the face beautifully.

One Max Mara coat I love is the Rialto. It is a short coat, and it has a gorgeous shawl collar. The deal breaker for me however is the hood. The hood has so much weight, and it keeps pulling the neckline back, so no Rialto for me.:heart:

I wanted a cool weather cashmere cardigan with a big collar, and I found exactly what I have been looking for! Hence, I want to share.

N. Peal is a UK brand that focuses on quality cashmere pieces. I buy their sweaters, and I just bought this cardigan.

The cashmere cardigan is a nice weight with structure as you can see on the model (not those thin wimpy cardigans) The cashmere knit pattern is gorgeous. The best part is the big shawl collar!  Another feature I love is the huge patch pocket, so chic!
Finally, the second best part about this cardigan is the sleeve. Most cashmere cardigans are cut with thin sleeves which means you can only wear thin pieces underneath. Otherwise, the arms look lumpy worn with a thicker sweater. This cardigan has full sleeves which works great with sweaters!

The model wears it dressed up, but I like it worn casual with sweaters and jeans. I really love this piece; hence I wanted to share in case anyone might be interested.

I love N.Peal! Shopped there on my recent trip to London.

This is my latest MaxMara Weekend acquisition. It runs very oversized and I'll be able to wear it over pretty well anything. It's unlined double faced wool. I loved it as soon as I tried it on. It's got great styling.

The jacket looks great and comfy too.
I am hooked on N. Peal now and have been ordering online. They have free shipping & returns for US purchases which is great.
If you're ever in NYC, they have a boutique on Madison, and they just opened a second boutique in Rockefeller Center. I plan to pop in there next time I visit NYC.

Congrats on your new jacket!

Hi all, would love some advice for those who shop Max Mara in Paris! I will be in the city at the end of this month and have been trying to set up an appointment at the Avenue Montaigne boutique through the website, Whatsapp, e-mail, and Instagram for weeks and still haven't gotten a response/confirmation. I got far at Whatsapp (in the number listed in the website) but then they stopped responding when about to give a confirmation. I really want new suits and a coat, and I have a very structured schedule when I go so would like an appointment.

Does anyone have any advice on what step I should take next? Anyone have any experience or a lead with an SA or something? Thanks a lot.

I’ve been thinking about this short teddy for a while now and I would love to hear your thoughts about it. I’ve got the long version in grey and I love it but I was thinking the short version probably would be easier to wear when I have to be in and out of the car a few times a day…

Hi! I think the short Teddy is really cute. However, the one thing I do not like about it are the side tabs.
I bought a Max Mara camel short coat with side tabs, similar to the Teddy shape, except the fabric was 100% camel.
I loved it for a year as it was the hot seasonal item. However, after that season, I felt the side tabs made it looked a bit dated.

If you think you will love side tabs on a coat for many years, then go for it.
For me, I am not going to buy coats with side tabs anymore as I prefer a cleaner, crispier look.

Just my two cents, and I realize fashion is 100% preference. Hope this helps.

Agree re the side tabs. I also think they are unfortunately placed and likely not to flatter any
but the slimmest, tallest build. The short length is a nice idea, but the relatively low gorge/v opening
is very eighties inspired. Since I still remember some of my own hideous fashion choices in the early eighties,
i have no desire to go back; it’s one of my least favorite fashion decades. But, if the short coat looks
amazing on you, and you love it, then that is all that matters.

One more thing I want to add before I forget...

In case you do get this coat, odds are after a while, the end of the leather side tabs will curl up and out.
This happened to my coat, and it annoyed me as it looked trashy and unkempt with "curled leather." :annoyed::heart:
Good thing there is an easy fix. Just take it to a tailor shop, and have them stitch down the ends.
Once you find your optimal "belt loop" position, you won't be adjusting it regularly anyway, and having the ends stitched down makes it look so much better.

This is what I mean... see that leather end I circled in red? That end will curl out. You can stitch it down if it does.

I never thought about the tabs but I see your point. I don’t know how I feel about them, I don’t think I’ve ever had any coats with tabs on them. You are absolutely correct that they would eventually curl out (I’ve experienced that in a bag strap and it did annoyed me quite a bit but I’ve never thought about stitching them down, brilliant idea😅 👍🏻)
Thank you so much BigAkoya and 880, I appreciate your comments very much, I will think about it but probably leave it for now. Maybe if I it goes on sale…😊

Idea...
If you want something short, I assume you will be wearing it when it's not super cold.
For super cold, you would wear your long Teddy.
For not so cold, how about a Teddy cape? I always though they were cute. There are a couple of variations.

Here is the what I think is their classic cape as I recall I've seen it from past seasons. It's called Tebe.

Here are a couple more variations...

Finally.... anyone out here have a little one they would love to wrap in a mini-Teddy? This is so so so cute!

Adesso actually looks lovely but I can't seem to find it in any of the websites shipping to UK. I guess I like the oversized collar of the original teddy more than the other types of collars but I've never tried them on so maybe a trip to the nearest city with Max Mara shop is due:) I'll keep you posted if I end up bringing one home soon. Thanks again BigAkoya:heart:

NEWS FLASH! 25% OFF ONE DAY ONLY!

For anyone looking to purchase Max Mara coats, Saks has a promotion where you can get one item off for 25%.
I checked it out of curiousity because Max Mara is rarely included, but yes...Max Mara coats are included in this sale!

Here is a snapshot of some examples. I also wanted to capture the discount code to share.
This is one day only, today, Nov 11, 2023.

Since Max Mara coats rarely go on sale, I couldn't resist and purchased a new Manuela in black.
My current Manuela in black is old, so I rationalized to myself...
The coat is 25% off...Manuela is rarely on sale...they have my size...strike while the iron is hot...I need to replace that old black coat!

I hope some of you can take advantage of this sale.

I hope you managed to get your black Manuela while on sale.
Have you had your old one for a long time? The reason I’m asking is because I have had my beige one for a few years now (I think 3..or maybe 4🤔) and it still looks great but I feel that the black one I got last year would hold better over time than the beige. I would say I wear them equally but I just find that the black one feels stiffer - not in a bad way (I don’t really know how to describe it)
Do you still love your red Manuela as much as before? I still don’t think I could pull it off but I really like it 😅

I actually tried this on in store and liked how it looked. However, I ended up going with another coat that I thought I'd probably wear more often.

The short teddy fit nicely in my normal size. If I had ended up getting it, I would have had a tailor add one more button or snap a little higher up so that it would not open as much in the front to stay warmer (should have been a fairly minor adjustment.)
