The beauty of MAX MARA coats...(photos please)

I'm debating getting the teddy but all pictures I see online are of influencers and celebrities that are 6ft tall and super skinny. Does that coat look good on curvy women? I'm 5'8'' and a US size 10. I think I'd go for a XS since I wouldn't want it to be too oversized, just slightly.

I quite like the Teddy coats... there are so many colours out there..
Would you be able to try it in store? Perfect for Winter that's for sure :-)

I'll join with a question. I have found a coat from max mara studio? Can someone tell me the difference between max mara and max mara studio? Lastly, how is the sizing? For the reference I have US8 burberry kensington and fits me good with space to layer. I really like this one but I have never had a max mara coat :flowers:

The teddy is really really big. The look is like a big blanket wrapped around you. I can't pull it off as I prefer a more structured look. You can try and order the XS and see if you like it.

When you try it on, I would button it up to see how you will actually wear it. Most the photos you see of celebrities and influencers have the coat open so you can still see their figure. While that looks nice in a photo, it's not real life. If it's that cold and you need to put on the Teddy, that coat is going to buttoned up! So definitely try it buttoned up and see if you like that look.

Good luck!

Max Mara carries several lines, Max Mara, S, Weekend, Studio, and Sportmax.
Max Mara is their top line. Studio is their lower priced line. The pieces are also not made in Italy.
Country of origin may or may not matter to you, but it does to me. I prefer to buy my coats only from the main Max Mara line. Be sure to also check country of origin if that matters to you.

For sizing (and this is only for the Max Mara line), I find their coats run true to size to a bit on the large side. I think the fit will depend on the style as some coats run very very large, but that is by design. I have a similar coat that style by Max Mara, and I think your true size will be fine.

On your coat above, I think this is from the Weekend line, and not Studio. I think both lines would not be made in Italy if that matters to you (it may not). If country of origin matters, your coat is a classic cut, and the Max Mara makes similar ones.
Wool coat, camel - "DESY" Max Mara

As FYI, I also have a Burberry Kensington! Love that trench coat!

Hope that helps.

I'm about your size :-) and i love teddy coat, how comfortable and warm and lightwear it is, but i find that it does not look on me as good as on models  It does looks better when it is open. Last autumn and winter and spring i wore it all the time, my favorite coat.
For this autumn i plan to get madame coat :-)

I am petite. Bought the teddy coat in S (before XS came out last fall) and had Max Mara altered it to fit me. It’s perfect. My favorite coat. Well maybe second favorite since I also love my Loro Piana Icery cashmere coat.

Thank you! What size did you get? I was debating S but the arm length is better in the M (which is super oversized though).

JJ, i got size S and i should get size M. If i could go back i would get M. S has shorter arm length, as you mentioned, it bothers me. I have ordered it online and did not want to wait for exchange. Do you have possibility to try both sizes at the same time? Photos can be helpful....

I'll stop by the store and see if they have both sizes. Thank you for your help!

Just a question of curiosity. What do you do to your coat if something happens like this to your Maxi Mara coats?
...does this happen often?
How can you get it fixed ?
It's hard to tell the type of damage. It looks like a snag to me, like it got caught on something sharp. If that is the case, your local tailor can mend it. She may have to pull in any thread inside out to make it smooth on the outside.

Unless you live near a Max Mara, this is not the type of damage that requires the boutique to fix.

Thank you for your reply. I just posted this photo from someone selling a second hand Max Mara coat online.
Just stumbled onto a couple of these photos over time... just made me curious
