I gave the seller reasons in a conversation that may be reviewed for investigation purposes. They sent me a certificate from Real Authentication with a certificate of authentication. I wonder how they were able to deem that authentic without pictures of the rivets or back of tag… I presume since I didn’t. Either way just sloppy. And now I have to waste my time communicating with RA. :cursing:
That sucks.

Found this thread from a few years back: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/real-authentication-the-incompetent-one.980433/
Good luck!

Thanks, I’ll need it. I can’t even reach RA unless I pay, which is extremely obnoxious. I had to order my own authentication which I will ask to be reimbursed by Poshmark (I know not likely to happen) if I can get RA to agree with me. I just can’t believe that professional authenticators who cavalierly issue certificates lack this much knowledge.

Anyone know what's going on with the back side of this bag? does the fur wear off?

Haircalf/“ponyskin” (still called that though it’s not horse) does that with wear. A lot of times even high end haircalf already has little bald spots when new because, nature.

What has worked for me with PM (which is a real PITA) is to take and send them, identical shots of an authentic bag's features, each authenticating feature, along with the wonky features of the bag you need to return. I'm not sure I'd bother with the "authenticators," but of course, once you have the photos, you might as well copy them as well.

Then if they still insist on keeping your money, I'd reverse my cc charges.

Who would you all suggest is the most reliable and reputable authenticator of Balenciaga widely accepted by all businesses? Does Bal offer some sort of authentication? My guess is no, but what would come closest to? I feel like I can’t trust anyone anymore…

I don’t know of a professional service that I’d trust to get authentication right. RA has a history of ignorance, especially with our vintage or slightly unusual bags. It’s a frustrating situation.

To my knowledge, Balenciaga wants no part in authentication. They would much prefer we stop re-selling their bags, and buy only from them.

The fur wears off on the back. I have two of these style bags - but I'm always super careful about rubbing the fur away. I think I baby them more than my usual chèvre bags! This blue color is really beautiful though, so saturated!

Update about this mess in case anyone is curious. I ordered a second authenticated fake bag on Posh and lost my $&!@ I sent pics of both bags to RA and they determined both to be counterfeit. I spent $40 each for the evaluation and certificate and sent them to posh. They requested I return the first one to them for secondary evaluation and just refunded me for the second with an almost-apologetic email. I don’t expect them to reimburse the third party evals though I asked. I’ve learned my lesson.

Get pushy! Remind them they sold you counterfeits and that you shouldn't be out dime one.

Ugh! I'd be just as angry. They have the 'report a fake' feature but they do zero about it; thus the fakes are allowed to proliferate to a disgusting degree.
When you say the bag was authenticated, do you mean Posh authenticated it? If so, they failed to do it properly, causing you to have to pay to prove them wrong. If the seller had a "certificate" from some crackpot 3rd party authenticator, then you may be out of luck, sadly.
Regardless, it takes all the fun out of getting a new bag when it winds up fake and you have to go to such an effort to remedy it.
