Hello, ladies! I’m hoping someone will give me advice and out using a Bal bag for travel.

I usually use a large Le Pliage, long handles, custom ordered from France around 2010. I’ve lost count of the times it has crossed the ocean. Unbelievably, it’s still in great shape, including the corners. I have a felt purse insert inside, and it holds everything from iPad to headphones to gum, and she has held up amazingly, being dragged through security machines, shoved under airplane seats, stuffed in the overhead, thrown in trunks of taxis. Picture of said faithful-serving Longchamp below.

My Bals, all Cities, Firsts and one mini, have been sitting in my closet for years, because I kept choosing my Chanels instead. Recently the Bal bug bit me again, and I bought a few of CeeJay’s bags, but now I am wondering if the Weekender could serve me as well as the Longchamp, and of course be more chic… what do you say?

Would it stand up to the abuse I described above? Would a Weekender be about the same size? What year would you recommend?

And where do you suggest I look for a good one in chèvre?
Would have to be dark, I suppose, although I would adore one in blue.
Thank you in advance for any help :flowers:

Up at the top of the Bal forum, they’re either on the right hand side of the page or there will be a click button that says subforums. I prefer the old way where you could immediately see if there’s any new traffic.
This tells me you still see it. It disappeared off of my page today.

I personally love the courier for travel, though it will show more wear than your Longchamp. My primary travel bag is the large Bacon/whistle. Its leather is indestructible.

this is the bacon.

I use my WE's as everyday bags, lol. I adore them so much. Big girl needs big bag.
Personally, I would be worried sick about the corners when the bag gets used and abused. Just reading your description of said abuse makes me

But I'm a sissy when it comes to that  . I'm aware that's their original purpose of use. But I would probably end up in jail for killing people that manhandle my bag during check in or wherever. But that's just me...
Okay, off to pet my WE's and whisper sweet nothings to them :giggle:
That was helpful, wasn't it? Sorry 'bout that, lol.

@earswithfeet, I understand completely, as I normally baby my bags. In my car, they are always covered with a sweater or shawl so they won’t be in the sun any longer than they have to be.
This would probably be a bag that was well used to begin with. And maybe already with corner damage.
Ha.

Unfortunately, these come along very rarely, and whoever sells them does not the name so searching for them is pretty hard. There's this one on ebay right now, but it's not the big travel size to replace your Longchamp.
