The bag/s you're glad you didn't buy?

That's the one! I don't have a red bag anymore which makes it especially tempting. I love bright reds.
I'm proud of you for not buying it!

I swear, all animals have a commonality, at least those who like bright, shiny, (colorful) objects. Sometimes I'm like that dog in the movie "Up" - SQUIRREL!

PURSE!

If my DH is with me during these circumstances, he's like the proverbial leash - YANK, and I keep walking ... looking back, but walking ...

Great thread indiaink! Chanel Classic 2.55 (I'm sure there will be audible gasps). In 2007, because I was saving for a house then (which was a much better investment I suppose!), and then in 2009 because I had it side by side next to a hand-me-down Chanel from 1992, and the '92 was of such a superior quality that even the SA at Madison couldn't quite believe it. The price was $2500 and something like $3K? respectively. (maybe I should've gotten them at that price???)

Then an Hermes Victoria; which theoretically I adore to no end, as charmless as it may be to others. But I don't think I can pull the trigger on $4K+ or whatever it was in 2010 for something that isn't lined in leather.

I've subsequently got my HG bags (and, er, many others), so I suppose good things come to those who wait

Great thread, OP! I walked away from 2 gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff bags at Nordstrom Rack tonight. I pushed them around in my cart for the entire 1-1/2 hours that I was in the store, But I resisted. I was having regrets about walking away until I saw this thread. My wallet and I thank you. LOL.

I hear ya!

New H Kellys as well as Chanels also don't do it for me, compared them with 20 years ago and :nogood:

I love the Victoria too and was absolutely about to pull the trigger but those handles are so flimsy in the hand, too long in the hand and too short to go over a coat, I was hugely disappointed and like you I walked away

Love this thread! I'm trying to be better at spending less in 2014! I walked away from a gorgeous metallic plum Chanel 2.55 reissue flap in December. There were two left in the company and the color was from the 2012 spring collection so it was super rare they were still available as new bags from a department store. I also passed on a few nice RTW at 60% off during the winter sale! Then last Friday I left empty handed from the boutique even though my SA showed me this newly arrived shimmery rose champagne colored 2.55 reissue flap! I still think about the two bags like every single day but happy I didn't buy!

And sorry but I don't have the pictures anymore because I just HAD to delete them from my phone! It's not like I don't remember _exactly_ what they look like!

This! You're absolutely right. The handles are so flimsy. Sigh.

Don't mention to me Hermès of decades past... The Chanels were my mother's and she kept them beyond pristine in multiple dust bags, original boxes, even the original carrier bags. And she PASSED on several Kellys during this time. Back in the day they were still sitting on the shelves. The fastening annoyed her apparently :crybaby:

Forgive me that I'm still wallowing in my ignorance of H vintage and am treating my 2011 Box Retourne with the reverence of an archival piece, so I'm uninitiated in this respect!

That said, for days I've been toying with the idea of something in Box circa 1980.... Had it in a malleries virtual shopping cart and then... No. But not celebrating quite yet; my logic is wavering:
Angel on my shoulder: "Do I need clutch number XX?"
Devil: "But it's Vintage. Hermès. Box. For this price you twit!"

TBC. Unless someone buys it to put me out of misery.

I've been so close to buying & I don't know how long I'm going to be holding off for...:
  • Balenciaga Metallic Edge City
  • Rebecca Minkoff MAC
  • Rebecca Minkoff Jellybean
  • MbMJ lil Ukita

The ones that I came close to buying but never did and not really regretted:
  • custom le pliage from Longchamp
  • Louis Vuitton Eva clutch
  • Cambridge Satchel

That made me LOL!
I am so glad I didn't buy
Celine Trapeze
Chloe Marcie
Oh - and last night, flying back home and killing time in Duty Free - I am VERY glad I walked away from a pair of Dior sunglasses. They were beautiful, but I am saving for something I really want and I'm so pleased I didn't chip into my savings to splurge. I know that I'd have regretted it as soon as I'd paid.

Yes, they do ... and thank you! I'm finding just THINKING about the bags I didn't buy gives me a good feeling; it's like somehow they are more tangible - I know about them, they are real, I could have them if I wanted... but I chose to walk away. Kind of freeing!

NR is truly a dangerous place, but at least they don't ALWAYS have great bags. I've been reading that they've got a lot of RM in, though. Thank heavens we're having a major snow event today or I'd be going to the MOA/NR and NOT buying a RM MAB.;)

Those colors sound TDF - good on you, very strong you are - and good for your wallet!

Whew, quite the list. I imagine you'll get at least one eventually ... hard to keep walking past those babies ...

Kept on watching and unwatching a LV Mono Cabas Piano this week on ebay. I love the bag's style but I kept on thinking how hard it would be to keep the vachetta base clean and watermark-free! I almost placed a bid today but I heard my conscience say 'Stop!!!!!' Lol! Glad I did :)

I refuse to get a paypal and eBay account because I know I'll be doing that too!
