Best to just remind yourself that The Herbag is meant to be a very casual utility style That's why its' made out of Canvas and Hunter leather rather than more luxe materials.
just relax enjoy it and you'll cease to notice the scratches
I actually like the fact it has a back pocket large enough for a phone and wish they offered one in more luxe materials or another leather that doesn’t show scratches as strongly.

3 Herbags on the H website as of right now (for men I assume)

I looked at this bag in the store today and it was smaller than expected, much slimmer and shorter than the previous 39. It's extremely nice and am considering buying one, but want to make sure a 13" macbook pro fits inside (under the metal fastener). Does anyone have one of these in the new size that can confirm a 13" MB pro can fit? Thanks!

Yes, I would love to know too! It would be very convenient if the 13” can fit the Herbag 39!

I just got 31 and in Love! Haven’t used it yet, as it’s a present from my husband for our wedding anniversary in August. So I’m patiently waiting  But would love to know more about the 39 as well — I would use it as a travel bag or work bag.

Hi all, may I introduce you to Blacky?
She is a gorgeous Lady of 23 years (born in 2000) - I got her off the German version of Craigslist. She is authentic and the seller is the cutest gay in town. He is super happy that someone bought her who takes care of her and loves her dearly. (she also came with the 2nd canvas bag)
The best part is that I do not have a new bag - but maybe I made a new friend. We will go out for dinner and walk the dog together next week.
What more could I've asked for?
I am not super happy with the Rodeo - it is it LE with real horse hair, but I think the blue screams a bit too loud. So next time I am close to Hermes I will get a dark-toned twilly and I keep my eyes open for another Rodeo - or maybe I will find someone to trade it.
Do I like the closure? Not sure.
Will I be annoyed by it? Maybe.
Do I still love the Herbag? Absolutely!

Hi Tupfen,

I just recently acquired one that is from the year 2000 as well. Can you share a photo of what the back of your bag looks like? Mine didn't come with straps but I'm thinking of getting one made from Handcobbler because it just makes a lot of difference aesthetically!

Oh! I also have the Herbag from 2001
It has an inside pocket — open, not the zipped one. Both bases have it. This is the perfect for me as I personally don’t like the outside pocket (as Zip has).
I also noticed that the canvas bases have some kind of rubber coating on their inner sides. So basically if I turn them inside out I will have a coating outside  for extra protection of the canvas.

I actually kind of appreciate it not having a back pocket too! Although I could see how that might be useful for some. I haven’t checked that rubber coating yet but that’ll be interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Of course! :)
And I’m curious if you have this inner coating as well. It looks like Hermes was experimenting with some tiny touches through the Herbag timeline. For example — I haven’t seen much small inner pockets in the bases (I guess just in 2000 and 2001 bags), and I have a glove (?) clip that sometimes pop up in vintage Herbags but also not in every one.

I got the 39 messenger and it just fits a 13” MacBook Pro. You can see it fits just under the hardware in one of the photos attached. It’s much slimmer than the original 39. Perfect for a work bag. Much easier to open and close than I expected. Very happy with it!

Owww very tempting. Looks like a great workbag.

May I ask? Does it have extra pouches (inside or outside) like the smaller Herbag? And as it’s called messenger, is the strap long enough for a cross body?

I am seriously tempted  Your bag is beautiful. Love the colour.

ETA: found the answers from h.com. Sorry and please ignore my questions.

Me too! Now I’m slightly worried it might be too big for me since I’m only 5’3 and quite petite. I looked around and tried to compare the photos, it’s looks similar based on dimensions, but just thinner and an 1.6inches shorter.
I’m your size and in my opinion the 39 was too big on me. Then again, if you need to carry lots of stuff (that’s what a bag is for, surely?) and wore the bag with confidence then I bet you'd rock it.
