Let’s be real here.
The SA was shoving things on your face for you to buy. That’s a red flag for me. All those four items he showed you to buy came out of nowhere. You went to the store for shoes and a scarf for chrissake. Also dont be tempted with the “looks good on you” spiel.

I understand the pre-spend but at least spend on items you want. I wouldnt buy a $6k most especially in Texas… youll probably use it half a day five days a year as it gets humid/ hot mid-day. I wonder if they couldnt get anyone to buy that coat. Also that looks to be dressing “extra” in Texas unless thats what your style is of course.

I agree on here, dont set very high expectations— that will just frustrate you. Take one day at a time, or months or a year lol.

Browse online and on the resell market, research and screenshot the items you really want and need. Thats how i inform my SA what im looking for. It may or not be available online, in store or at another store. I personally refuse to buy anything that i dont like.
You are correct, I probably won’t wear the coat much per year specially live in texas :) it still sit in my closet since I bought… hope I can wear it soon :)

Btw Last week my sa offered me a mini 24x24 but I rejected it because I don’t like that style. He was not happy he complaint that he offered me a bag and others (blanket) and I didn’t want it. I told him that is not true that whenever he offered me anything I didn’t like it. I bought a coat when he offered? And he was quiet… I am not too sure about this sa. He is nice but whenever I don’t want something that he offers he won’t be happy and he says this or that… I am not sure if we are not click I may have to switch sa and I hope I don’t have to do that…

Wow that’s rude of him.
It’s not because you dont click. That SA has issues.

I wont overthink this. The first two interactions with him alone are more than enough to switch SA. Ive never experienced or heard on this forum than an sa (of any brand) would demean you for not buying what he is trying to sell. That sounded manipulative. And also btw the items he has been selling you will earn him a big commission… as a newbie though i wouldnt start buying those items right away as thats like giving the impression that u have money to spend. Start on shoes and scarves and work your way to more ecpensive items if u really like it.

I hope you find a better sa or another route towards the bag of your dreams.

Yeah I shouldn’t bought an expensive item when I first met him. He tries to get me buy expensive stuffs. I am not sure if other sa doing the same? they probably are all the same. That is how they can make more money I guess…I don’t know if I can switch sa in the same store since we have only one boutique here…

Not all SAs are the same. Just like everything else. People are people. Some people treat you as they want to be treated. And some people take advantage of nice people bc they can. How far along are you on your prespend? I might just switch SA bc yours sounds manipulative and no fun to shop with.

Sure all SAs will do some sort of push to varying degrees. But none should guilt trip you into it.

Switch SAs. It’s not going to get any better. Seems he think he’s “found one” which is not cool. However, given your posts I can imagine he thinks you think everything is about spend and he’s trying to take advantage of that, and not for the good. No one can force you to stay with the same SA regardless of how many stores they have especially if the first interactions has been this intense.

Not all SAs are the same. Let’s not let one persons interaction make you lump everyone into a category before given the chance.

Switch Sa, let the store manager know, if SM says no, switch your home store to Austin or Dallas, couple hours driving, I don’t like the way how tyour current SA treat you ( or probably all of his clients)

Maybe you and the SA are just not compatible, but there's also probably some tension on both sides given how the relationship has played out thus far.

In your first visit, he offered you an expensive coat and you bought it and then you wanted to talk quota bags. He asked you to come back a second time to discuss your wishlist, which you did and he then offered you a blanket, which you turned down. I think that's all fine, I don't think he was out of line to suggest an item to you given that he suggested one the prior visit and you purchased it. I think where things may have started to go awry is when you told him about the things you heard on here about when and how people got offered quota bags. I think some of us shared that information to help you out and quell some of your fears, but you sort of weaponized that when you went back to him and gave specifics on our experiences. I don't think any SA would like for someone to come in with all of these anecdotes regarding quota bags and more or less put the SA on the spot as to when you could expect your own quota bag, particularly given that you had only met one time before that and had only bought two items, expensive as one of them may have been.

Despite that second meeting going that way, it sounds like your SA recently offered you a pretty in-demand bag, a mini 24/24, and you turned it down. Again, perfectly fine to do but any frustration that your SA expressed is likely borne out of the fact that you seem to only be in it for a quota bag. He probably offered you the mini 24/24 as a way to satisfy you for now given that you will need more time and spend to get a quota bag.

But if you and the SA don't vibe, then switch SAs. But I'm not sure I would expect things to change a whole lot. You're still going to have to purchase things and wait to get a quota bag, and while your existing spend would count for the store, it's not going to count in terms of how you stack up against a new SA's existing clients.

Agree with @impaktplayer above. @lynn ph, it also caught me by surprise when you mentioned to your SA that someone else got a BK within three months, and he disagreed and tried to give you the average timeframe of 8-12 months. It’s problematic from a few different angles. First, everyone’s experience is different, and I honestly think people can drive themselves crazy trying to compare. Second, most SAs when engaged in a conversation about this topic with a new client would probably all give her the average timeframe of 8-12 months. Assuming average, regular spend (for that clientele In that location). Sas do talk among themselves, and if it appears that a prospective client has unrealistic expectations, that will not be conducive to your shopping experience regardless of your SA.

In my opinion only, coming from my experience with another competitive boutique, because he got the mistaken impression that you wanted a QB faster, he started to push items on you to make that happen. I think it’s just a miscommunication, but I don’t think another SA would have necessarily acted differently. You could just say that you’d like to go at a slower pace and figure out what other things work for you and your lifestyle. I personally do not advise that anyone have the wishlist discussion too soon. That’s because when your specs come up, if your spend isn’t where it should be, relative to other clients, and if your SA is not in the position to offer (vis-a-vis other SAs), it really doesn’t matter. This is my opinion as well. When people ask how soon can they bring up their wishlist, I always think "what's the rush?" Unless you're dropping major $$$ quickly, you probably have months until you'd be eligible for a bag. Take your time, get to know your SA, let them get to know you and when the moment presents itself, bring it up. I often think in situations like these you won't even need to bring it up, the SA will eventually ask you.

@lynn ph Unfortunately, I think the wrong impression was given and you definitely should switch SAs. You've only shopped with your SA a few times. I don't think a switch would need a managers approval and I wouldn't involve them anyway(unless told otherwise from someone in your boutique). Go in when your SA is off and see how you connect with someone else. Don't talk bags, pre-spend, or your feelings on your current SA. Keep it light and see how you do from there.

I am newbie of h. I started h in august, I saw my sa twice and spent 8k. I bought a coat and a pair of shoes when I first met him. Second time he wanted me to come back to go over what I wanted for my qb and we talked and he offered me a blanket and I rejected but I bought a nail polish instead. After that I have never talked/asked him about qb because he told me it will take 8m to a yr. I am taking slowly as process goes. I learn my lesson to get an expensive item without knowing the sa.

I’ve never been to Dallas store but honestly I would switch to Austin or Houston. Great experience at both stores, in Austin I was offered a mini roulis without ever bringing up bags and in Houston after 2 months I got a qb offer. I’m sorry you didn’t have a great experience Dallas seems so competitive

Do you shop at other stores in the HP shopping center?
I know my Dallas sa [pre-pandemic] was good friends with several sa’s at other stores [Dior, LP, etc.]. It really is a network which is not good or bad. Just be aware. As others have said, try to enjoy the shopping, it is some of the best in the state. When the cold weather arrives [and it will], please send it south asap :hugs:

I have had nothing but good experiences at all the retailers in the HP shopping center. So my personal situation may be different than others, but I have no complaints whatsoever about Dallas shopping (H, Cartier, Saint Laurent, La Ligne, Goyard, Nordstrom, Neiman, etc) and I've lived here for 6 years. I also happen to have a fantastic custom clothier here too!
