When I was there 1st time I didn’t look for a coat but he brought out the coat ($6500) and asked me to try on with the sandal ($770) and I bought them both on 1st day from him and I asked him if we can talk about my wishlist and he said not at the same day. He wanted me to come in next week or whenever I am free which is this coming Friday. I feel this is weird why he didn’t want to go through my wishlist at the same day when I spent almost 8k. I know I will need to spend some $ each month but I don’t know if I spend $ too quick. Would this speed up to get what I want?
Can u share your expensive on your 1st qb?
It’s not weird. Spend and categories aside relationship matters. He’s trying to get to know you as you are trying to get to know him.

I’m still waiting on my first Birkin as I started last year. I’ve received a constance which some say are or are not a quota. For new clients in Houston a constance is a quota.

I’ve received 2 b 30 offers that I declined. I’m waiting for something specific - a b30 craie with rghw or ghw and a b35 gold on gold. Houston didn’t order a lot of b35s so I have to wait for them to trickle in. And craie is super popular so that alone will take time being a newbie. I prefer big bags so my shopping experience wouldn’t be as helpful to you! I also primarily spend in rtw home goods and shoes.

Getting a mini kelly for a first bag from Dallas is likely going to take a lot of time and a lot of spending. I know more than one big spender there that waited YEARS and six figure+ spending before finally getting any MK offer at all and then the color wasn’t even one on their list. I think the SA was trying to give you the hint that bags are going to be slow when they delayed discussing your wishlist and I suggest you set your expectations accordingly. Good luck!
If I have to spend > 100k to get the mk then I would have to get it from resale. It will be quicker and exactly color I want.
Thanks

I have to agree with @nakedmosher2of3 about longevity of the relationship being more important. Certainly spend is important, but after I got offered my first bag, I stopped keeping track of the spend and just bought things I truly enjoyed. I then got offered my dream combination constance without even asking and told my SA I needed a break from bag offers (as my husband would kill me). I have really been wanting a B25 to complete my collection and figured it would take months to procure my ideal bag (from other purseforum members) so I told her on Friday I was ready and I got my offer today. I do not think I have spent a ton of money, but I adore my SA and I am buying other products I absolutely love…Also picking up an Alpaca long coat when I go in next week. And most importantly, I have put ZERO pressure on her to get me a bag, which I think she appreciates a lot.

I think you've received some great advice in this thread. I agree with the foregoing. In Dallas, I think relationship with your SA is by far the most important factor.

With respect to your SA asking you to come in to discuss your wishlist at a later date, I don't think that's weird. Like @jimmyshoogirl said, he is just trying to get to know you and probably trying to slow you down a little bit. Even if you spend $8k on the first visit, you may have been a little too forward by asking for quota bags on the first visit. I don't think I asked about quota bags until I had visited my SA three or four times. Everyone is different but I wouldn't want to give off the impression to my SA that all I care about is a quota bag. I think H is looking for clients who truly appreciate the brand and all of its offerings, rather than only buying to get a quota bag.

On a similar note, I wouldn't be so concerned with prespend unless you're only buying to get a quota bag. I certainly would not ask your SA how much prespend it will take to get a MK. Just buy what you like and enjoy. H has so many wonderful things across so many product lines. But if you're just out to get a specific bag, you'd probably be better served going the reseller route and getting exactly what you want.

But if you want to go through the boutique, it's possible but may take time as many have pointed out. I managed to get one recently as a second quota bag after around 1.5 years of shopping. Like @Fertmd101, I stopped keeping track of spend so I can't tell you exactly how much it took to get there, but it is a competitive bag. With that said, I still think your relationship with your SA is the critical element there rather than how much you have spent. At a store like Dallas, there are always going to be whales who can outspend you so that's not really what is going to set you apart when you're trying to get an allocation.

As you see the Texas thread is not active. From what it seems (this is only my observation) Texas stores are really good at trying to get the client their first bag pretty quickly.

I’d say don’t hint around just be straightforward with what you are there for so there’s no time wasted. Good luck Friday!
Yes I have to agree that at least in Houston, it didn’t seem difficult to get first qb. I got my dream bag (b25) after .7/1 spend and 2.5 months. I actually didn’t even buy anything first time meeting my SA but she seemed very eager to help. Also she told me stock is getting better at the store and that’s why she was able to offer to me so quickly!

Cool! That’s good to hear! When did you start shopping?

Dallas is a hugely productive store ($$$) which means they have a larger buy than smaller stores. This means more bags/more product but also more clients and more competition.

In my opinion, this store is not just about spending (although I hate talking about spending in general, it just takes all the joy away from the process in my opinion), it's about client longevity. While I'm sure there are plenty of newer folks who are getting offered amazing pieces, if you have something super specific in mind (say only a mini kelly), it might take longer (years). I'm sure there are longer term clients who are also waiting for the same thing.

Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, enjoy the process, and try not to overthink it. That removes all of the joy.

IMO, no not too quick, assuming you love what you bought. I think SAs and their SMs become cautious when a wish list is brought up too soon bc they do not want a client who will only spend until the offer and then disappear. JMO though

That would be a weird setup for Houston and Austin because they have been allowing qb within the first couple/few months (even being mentioned in this thread. If they give the bag and people only wanted one bag then they could leave after a couple months lol.

While I didn’t get a b or k I got a constance in ms and rghw. Houston doesn’t get a lot of rose gold hw nor pinks (according to my SA). I had only shopped 2 prior times with very minimal spend (not the cost of a constance and definitely not the cost of a b/k) before being offered the big. This bag was #1 on my wishlist that we talked about on my second visit. I’ve talked to at least 6 people (obviously not that many people in comparison to the amount of shoppers at the store lol) at the houston store who’ve gotten b/k within the first couple of months with the same pattern as me. This is coming from people that started and the end of 2021 beginning of 2022 with me.

Now the 2nd in Houston is definitely harder lol. It’s about 5 of us waiting for the second lol

I don’t know anyone from Dallas so this may not apply at all but Houston and Austin are not as afraid to talk about what bags people want. They know why people are there lol. Thankfully Houston isn’t as difficult as some of the other stores and serious about relationships over spend.

Also my SA is very straightforward. She asked me on the second visit if I wanted to put in a wishlist and if so email it to her.

Wow, sounds like Houston is a great store for new clients to try! Great to know!

I agree @acrowcounted. Date check.... @jimmyshoogirl mentioned that these were end of 2021/beginning of 2022... were those still during the covid supply (slight) glut?
