I mean, she’s having fun with her boyfriend. She lives on a silly platform of madly falling in love and then it goes south and she writes songs about both. This is just a celebration of her relationship in the spirit of the continuation of her brand.

She’s got Sir Paul McCartney acting like a lovesick fan. Taylor can truly do as she likes. And good on her. I’m totally here for the awkward girl being awkward in her massive stardom and doing whatever the **** she likes.

Someone needs to explain the mass hysteria.

I understand her filling up stadiums to a point, she's relatable because she sings about BFs who just don't appreciate her. Apparently she's a good performer, very energetic on stage and some of her songs are catchy. She's prolific and also very tall and pretty... but Dave Grohl just made fun of her by insinuating she doesn't sing live.

I read her small vocal range works in her favour, because it's easy for her fans to sing along.

But what makes her so huge compared to other artists who do the same?

I think it varies. She didn’t fall onto my radar until Folklore. Fell in love with that album, her songwriting, and the sound. Always thought she seemed like a positive female role model in popular music. I like that she gives back (philanthropy). She just seems all around likable and connects well to fans. She’s an engaging and entertaining performer.

I know a lot of people don’t like her. I know she’s not perfect (private jet issues, using her personal life to write songs has been criticized). But at her level it’s impossible not to be put under a microscope and for people to not find fault.

By no means am I a swiftie but I am a low key fan. I have quite a few o her songs on heavy rotation but there are many songs I just don’t care for.

I’m also a Foo Fighters fan so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Dave Grohl puts on an incredible show but I’m not sure why he’s even bothering to bring this up. It’s not like they’re in competing music genres…

I think a lot of her appeal is that parents feel comfortable with their young girls “growing up” with her.

She is a bit boy focused but she didn’t go through the naked period or the drug period that Miley did. She is kind to her fans when she meets them and, even when she has explicit lyrics she releases a kid friendly version of the whole album. She does charity work and promotes cost friendly things to show fanhood like bracelet making (as opposed to pricey pop ups with collabs with expensive houses etc).

I love Grohl but this is a weird flex for him. He can sing live. But let’s see him do it in heels and foofy dresses, while dancing in a choreographed show. (I don’t know if TE sings live or not Swifties - don’t attack me). But live and let live, Dave. This isn’t your demographic lol.

I’m sure it comes from a place of frustration, but there’s obviously a good amount of sour grapes thrown in. Musicians like Grohl see Taylor as being a cookie cutter pop star who sings her simple pop songs and for some unfathomable reason is receiving insane adoration and acclaim from millions of fans worldwide (and the media.) The Foo Fighters were big in their day but even at their peak they never had anything close to that.

Fame isn’t always about who is the most talented. Grohl needs to keep quiet, otherwise he risks looking petty and spiteful.

I personally agree with that characterization but please - live and let live. There are far worse things in the world to criticize than a light pop singer complaining about boys and giving people a good time. Plus she’s a genius brand builder and businesswoman. Shut up and focus on improving your own craft / business.

Yeah it's just silly of him. I mean he's Dave Grohl, he's a rock legend. I mean yeah, it's totally different than a rock show, but she sings live and she & the band play live, every night. I heard at the next show she made it a point to thank the band and point out that they play live 3.5 hrs every show.
Hey, now she can write a bunch of songs about how he wronged her!

I like her. I like that she writes her own songs. She’s very talented! I was surprised when my daughter, who is 8, said she liked her. We don’t listen to pop music, ever. So she must have gotten exposed to it somewhere.

Taylor appeals to all ages - Sir Paul McCartney is 82, Jon Bon Jovi is 62 and I was standing next to a little girl (dressed in her 22 outfit with matching black trilby) of around 10 at the concert. Her mom, dad and elder sister were with her and her parents were enjoying themselves very much too!

And Taylor sang live as far I can tell unless they even pre-recorded her swallowing a bug whilst performing a 10 minute song and kept singing in between trying to cough it out! I only realised today I caught it all on my phone.

As someone who remembers the Beatles arriving in NY in 1964 to screaming crowds of young women, I've wondered that myself. I don't get "Taylormania", but she clearly makes millions of people happy. That is no small feat in today's world. And even if they're not groundbreaking, I'll admit I find some of her songs quite catchy. Sir Paul certainly seems to enjoy her music.
