Someone needs to explain the mass hysteria.
I understand her filling up stadiums to a point, she's relatable because she sings about BFs who just don't appreciate her. Apparently she's a good performer, very energetic on stage and some of her songs are catchy. She's prolific and also very tall and pretty... but Dave Grohl just made fun of her by insinuating she doesn't sing live.
I read her small vocal range works in her favour, because it's easy for her fans to sing along.
But what makes her so huge compared to other artists who do the same?

I’m sure it comes from a place of frustration, but there’s obviously a good amount of sour grapes thrown in. Musicians like Grohl see Taylor as being a cookie cutter pop star who sings her simple pop songs and for some unfathomable reason is receiving insane adoration and acclaim from millions of fans worldwide (and the media.) The Foo Fighters were big in their day but even at their peak they never had anything close to that.I’m also a Foo Fighters fan so 🤷🏻♀️ Dave Grohl puts on an incredible show but I’m not sure why he’s even bothering to bring this up. It’s not like they’re in competing music genres…
I personally agree with that characterization but please - live and let live. There are far worse things in the world to criticize than a light pop singer complaining about boys and giving people a good time. Plus she’s a genius brand builder and businesswoman. Shut up and focus on improving your own craft / business.I’m sure it comes from a place of frustration, but there’s obviously a good amount of sour grapes thrown in. Fame isn’t always about who is the most talented. Grohl needs to keep quiet, otherwise he risks looking petty and spiteful.
Hey, now she can write a bunch of songs about how he wronged her!Yeah it's just silly of him. I mean he's Dave Grohl, he's a rock legend. I mean yeah, it's totally different than a rock show, but she sings live and she & the band play live, every night. I heard at the next show she made it a point to thank the band and point out that they play live 3.5 hrs every show.
Or, she will write positive and appreciative songs like those she wrote about ex Harry Styles, one being "Style." Harry wrote a song about her titled "Perfect."Hey, now she can write a bunch of songs about how he wronged her!
I like her. I like that she writes her own songs. She’s very talented! I was surprised when my daughter, who is 8, said she liked her. We don’t listen to pop music, ever. So she must have gotten exposed to it somewhere.
As someone who remembers the Beatles arriving in NY in 1964 to screaming crowds of young women, I've wondered that myself. I don't get "Taylormania", but she clearly makes millions of people happy. That is no small feat in today's world. And even if they're not groundbreaking, I'll admit I find some of her songs quite catchy. Sir Paul certainly seems to enjoy her music. But what makes her so huge compared to other artists who do the same?
