Hello!Hello ladies!
I needed some advice. I have visited Paris 3 different times this year and have been unsuccessful at getting an appointment.
I’m now expecting and don’t think I’ll be able to visit Paris anytime soon and would really like to get a B/K before baby comes.
I have a cousin that lives in Paris and has offered to try to get an appointment as long as I can send her a credit card to use. I have already called my credit card company and they said I can easily add her as an authorized user.
My only question is if she is able to get an appointment and get a bag what would be the best way to ship it to me also is there a way for me to claim a tax refund in this situation?
Appreciate the help!
Ah thank you for the info! Could you kindly tell me the company you use for shipping.Hello!
Make sure the credit card will have her name on it or they won't accept it. It has to match her ID.
No tax refund in this case as the person who asks for it must be the person who physically leaves the country, with the item. You can't ask for detax under her name, with a copy of her passport for example.
For such a high-value bag, I advise using Fedex or DHL (but through a third party website because price is out of this world when you deal directly with Fedex or DHL in France!). I usually ship to the US with Fedex, and it's delivered the next day, (for 75% less than actual Fedex price, and usually without any custom taxes..............)
Wouldn't it be much easier if she use her own credit card, and then you can pay her back via bank transfer? I guess as long as her name is on the card she's using then it'll be fine, and the vat refund will just go toward the same card for the purchase. The SA will process all the paperwork and all you have to do is get the form scanned. From personal experience I high recommend you to purchase with a visa card, make the transaction and vat refund much smoother and quicker.Hello ladies!

Yes but as @Martyp mentioned, no VAT refund unless you are leaving the country. The VAT counter representative at the airport approving the VAT form will ask for the plane ticket and match the name on the VAT form before approving the tax refundWouldn't it be much easier if she use her own credit card, and then you can pay her back via bank transfer? For shipping, make sure your cousin can personally drop off the package at the carrier of your choice (I prefer DHL for international shipping), with insurance and signature requirement.
Can't speak for other credit card companies but when I add an authorized user under my account, that person also get their own card with their name on it. My assumption is when she add her cousin as the authorized user, the name of the new card would have her cousin's name too. If that's not the case, then I'd suggest the 1st option, which just ask the cousin to pay with her own card then pay the cousin back. If the cousin managed to get vat refund following standard protocols, then that's for the cousin to keep since she did all the leg work and even got a quota bag!Yes but as @Martyp mentioned, no VAT refund unless you are leaving the country. The cousin may not have adequate limit to charge on her personal credit card ( which is why she may be asking for OP credit card)H purchases can be pricey.Wouldn't it be much easier if she use her own credit card, and then you can pay her back via bank transfer?
