Chloe is hands down the worst.
But not everyone is as into handbags as the folks on this forum. In fact, I'll bet many Target shoppers don't buy high end bags or know what a Muse/Edith/Stam etc is. I mean, obviously all sorts of people shop at Target including the ultra fashionable, I'm not generalizing Target shoppers as out of the fashion loop by any means. I just mean that I'll bet there are lots of people that buy the bags not even realizing that they are inspired by designer bags. They probably buy them because of the cute styles and designs. The very same ones that make the "real" bags so appealing.
That's totally true.
I had my Paddy out for a spin the other day. I was among women who really aren't into the whole designer bag thing. Here were the comments:
"ANOTHER new bag?"
"I like it! It's so cute!"
"Who makes it?" (blank stare when I told them the designer)
"Look at that huge lock! That's SOOOOO funny!!!"

And along those lines, even though I'm into expensive bags, I'm not one for designer shoes.
It was only recently (as in a few weeks) that I realized that Steve Madden and STEVEN shoes are largely "inspired" by Michael Kors and Christian Louboutin (did I even SPELL that right?!!)
So it's VERY possible that someone buys these bags with no clue that they're actually made to resemble a designer bag.

I don't know what the real one of Chloe looks like but that one by Target is hideous!

I walked through the mall today... everytime I saw bags like this I pointed it out to a friend. I drove her CRAZY...but it drove ME crazy to see so many "desinger inspired" bags!
Well, I am suprised that there are so many Kooba, MJ and YSL look alikes floating around here in OKC... maybe we're catching up on this fashion thing :p

I was thinking about just this thing the other day. It doesn't even need to be at the Target level. Before I started paying attention to high-end designer bags I never knew how much Coach and Kenneth Cole bite off of other designers, esp. Marc Jacobs.
I'm positive that back when I had no money and no awareness of high-end anything and bought Target bags I was buying bags "inspired" by designer items. But once you discover the real thing . . . there's just no going back!

I agree.

I have seen the bags at Target. I didn't look at them closely, but the material did look rather cheap. Target has some cute purses, but I would rather just have a cute and cheap purse rather than a cheap designer imposter! The other thing at Target is sunglasses... when I want an inexpensive pair of sunglasses, I do not want Dior knockoffs! Just something cute and plain. It took me forever to find a pair that weren't inspired by one designer or another.
