Question ladies.... if they work "with" the melanin in your skin, I'm assuming by creating a reaction.... doesnt that increases your chances of melanoma??? Maybe this is dumb question but on the tv show The Doctors, they were talking about injections that are used to react with your melanin...... scarrrry. I hope this is not true cause im white as a sheet!!! :)

I just posted a thread earlier today about faux tanning...I hadnt seen this thread prior. I broke out my bottle today. Im thinking I might have to try these towels though! I love the tan that my Sun labs lotion gives me, but its such a laboring process to apply, wait for it to dry, shower off color guide, etc. I like the easiness of the towels, Im just worried about the depthness of the color. I have olive, warm type skin with dark brown hair to begin with, so I like the deep, dark tans. I have come to find that my definition of being dark and others definition is completely different lol
Can anyone with the same type of coloring or the ones that prefer the really dark tans give any opinions on the towels?

I'm pretty sure the object of self tanning is to decrease your chances of getting skin cancer......

The ingredient that tans you is called Dihydroxyacetone --- if it's not high on the list of your self tanner, it might take a lot longer and may not be worth your money. Try and find one with this ingredient at the beginning.

All the melanin thing is - the more melanin you naturally have in your skin, the darker your tan will be.(Because the DHA tans these cells - which are on the top layer of your skin) If you have less - you'll just need more applications to get the tan you want.

Tan Towels won't give you the "savage" tan you are used to from Sun Labs. I have lighter olive skin and black hair (Italian) and tan fairly easily. I like to use Tan Towels during the winter months to keep a "light" tan and even out my skintone. During spring and fall I swear by L'oreal Sublime Bronze gradual tanner for a bit more color and "glowiness." During summer when I want that deep, dark tan, my favorite sunless tanners are Fake Bake, Sun Labs Ultra Dark, and Norvell Amber Sun. I'm going to try Xen-Tan this year to--I've heard great things about it. HTH!

I usually apply 1 or 2 Evolution Full Body Tan Towels before bed, and then the next day decide if I'm happy with the final outcome. I usually only like to have a bit of colour to my skin but if I'm after a deeper, darker tan I just reapply and end up looking like I've been stranded on an island for a month, which of course is the desired outcome. ;)

Thanks Alexis...we sound like we have similar coloring. I tan easily as well and really like that dark, island tan, so I guess the towels arent good for me. I'll have to stick with Sun Labs I guess, its just a pain to use lol
Thanks for your input...and I'll be curious to hear how you like Xen-Tan.
Just did my first application of Sun today, but I still have a few more applications to go to build up my proper tan. :smile1:

I just posted on your thread but I'll post here too.:D I like a dark tan also and Tan Towels on their on don't do it, at least on me. I still love them and will continue to use them though. Here's how they work for me; I like my legs to be the darkest and don't have any problem with streaking them so I use Bare Escentuals Faux Tan. I also use the BE on my shoulders and chest. Then I break out the Tan Towels for everything else. I have problems with streaking on my hands and feet but the Tan Towels apply perfectly- no streaks. I have also always been afraid to use self tanner on my face but the TT work beautifully. I do this once a week and use Dove gradual tanner in between and I think the end result is a really pretty, natural but still dark tan.

I applied two tonight for the first time I will let you know. I have dark brown hair and love to be dark in the summer and I have had trouble finding one that works ok.

I am pretty fair skinned and have been using these for several weeks now. I get so many compliments! No one believes it is fake tan, and even my mother accused me of going tanning when she saw me. I don't use them on my face though. Instead, I use the Tan Towel moisturizer that is supposed to slowly build gradually. They also make some lotion that is supposed to give a glow. I would like to try it.

Went out and bought a bunch of these today- I got some full body and some half body packets. My only concern is I'm scared to put it on my face! Any tips for facial application?

I have always been afraid to apply tanner to my face. The TT are the first I've been brave enough to try and they are super easy. I just wipe my face with them- no special technique. If you have any dry areas, just use a little moisturizer first. My skin is pretty normal so I don't. Make sure you wipe up into your hairline and you're all set. It's really easy- I promise.;)
