Hi ladies...so I'm going to be ordering the dark TT tonight...I am super fair and hopefully they will give me the color I want. Question- do I need to exfoilate before I use them??

Have you tried showering and using an exfoliator? That might help. If you have streaky areas you can fix those with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol.

BTW, I bought the TTs and I have not used them yet-- can anyone give a tutorial on how to apply? What part of the bod to start on first? I want to make sure I do it right

^^I wouldn't consider myself an expert, I think there are other ladies on here who have a lot more experience than I do, but I always "tan" my legs first and then move on to my arms and upper body. Hopefully this works for you, it has given me a streak free application every time

That rubbing alcohol trick worked! it is better now after showering, exfoliating and moisturizing!

Can someone explain the right way to do your hands/feet? Those are the only areas that were a problem. The package says to wash the palms of your hands immediately after applying (how hard is it just to wash your palms!)... I tried but somehow washed the top of my fingers too, so they are white! the tops of my palms to my knuckles are tan so its looking weird. I can't just not do my hands!! Then it would be tan just to my wrist, how weird would that look?! Any tips to make this go better next time would be appreciated!

I have never had any problems getting a streak free application on my back, but I am kind of freakishly flexible, and I don't use them on my face (just use a bronzer for that) but I do use them on my neck. Pretty much i just use them up my neck and rub it in so that a little bit gets on my face (I figure this way I don't have to worry about lines or anything) and then once the tan "sets" I just gently exfoliate my chin and I am good to go.

Do everything except you hands, then wash your hands. Next apply to the backs of your hands and then use a wet wipe on your palms. I can't help with the streaking. I've always had problems with streaking on my feet with other self tanners but haven't had any problems with the Tan Towels.

mmmmm, maybe I'll give these a shot, they seem cheap enough. I'm pale too and self-tanners never really did that much for me. I had been debating of trying that jergens lotion with the tanner in it but will try these first when I stop at Ulta

Ok I finally got around to trying these and WHOA! I am dark! I used one last night and didn't see anything after 4hrs, I was totally bummed. Then I wake up this morning and Im super dark! So it took longer than normal to work on me for some reason. I love the color, but I have a few problem areas unfortunately. I just did a second application so hopefully this will even it out. The streaked areas are my hands and feet... any tips to avoid this? Or do I just need to buy the lighter ones next time?

I've never had a streaking issue with than towels but I would suggest if you are new to this to start out with two applications of the fair-medium within a day/2 day span. Not both at once!

The first time I did mine I used the dark and turned out super dark too! So unless you want to be really dark stick to the fair-medium towels and just build up from there.

Exfoliating is also recommended before applying any type of self tanner. You will get a better application once you remove dead skin cells.

I start with a light touch around my face then neck and move down to chest, arms stomach, legs....I guess it depends on which part of your body you want the darkest and expose the most. I do my face first because I don't want to use it all over then rub if on my face (paranoid) and also my face fades the quickest due to makeup and removers.

I slather lots of lotion on my hands prior to the application because my hands are the driest part so they always turn the darkest. I also do them last and after 60 seconds on letting it settle, I slightly rinse the bottom of my hands and pat them dry on a towel. Then a little bit later I was the bottom of my hands again. Hands are the most difficult part! I guess you could wear gloves and then at the end do the top of you hands to avoid staining the bottoms?
