In Australia you have a 1-2 year warranty. I'm not sure how it is processed when you purchase overseas but you should definitely go and ask. Prada will always cover hardware problems just not "wear and tear" of the leather itself when under warranty.

i think someone else here had theirs fall off last month if i recall.

Call the store they do provide "spa" service for their bags (I made sure to ask specifically before i purchased mine). I think it should be under warranty in the first year, but I'm not 100% sure.

Good Luck!!

Thanks so much for your replies. I phoned the Prada boutique here in Sydney and was told that the Saffiano Lux Tote has a 2 year global warranty for hardware and something else, I couldn't quite hear due to the bad connection. I found my receipt at home, took the bag in and they accepted it. It should take around 4-6 weeks to fix. :roflmfao:

So glad you were able to have this repaired. My snaps were also defective on both sides and I never even took my bag outside! luckily I was able to exchange it for a new one. Can't wait to see your bag once its back in your arms!

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a BN2274 in black and has taken it out just twice but both times I managed to get a small scuff on the front panel of the purse. It's not noticeable unless you hold the bag up to my eyes so I can't post any pics of them. I am wondering if anyone else also have small scuffs and how to get rid of them. I always baby my bags and I was very careful with the purse when I took them out but yet managed to get 2 scuffs on it. BOTH TIMES!!! I am also debating if I should just return the bag and get a gauffre. I love the bag ALOT but i also spent a fortune on it I dont want to feel like i have to put the bag in a bubble everytime I take it out. Torn on what to do..:hrmm:
any advice? TIA!

Your debating on returning? Where did you buy the bag from? What does their returns policy state? I find it hard to believe any store is going to accept a used and damaged bag just because you're upset you damaged it yourself. The bag isn't defective.

How big and deep are the scuff marks? I have read about Prada offering a spa service for bags and they might be able to fix the bag. For instance, if the scratch has taken off the dye maybe they can spot dye it for you so it doesn't look as noticeable?

As for caring tips, I can say that I have never had any problems with my Prada bags and I use mine everyday. I hope it was only bad luck for you.

I learned this tip when I was in Saks purchasing my saffiano tote from a woman who the SA introduced as her manager and I also personally tried it on my brand new saffiano. Dab a very light and tiny dot of hand moisturizer on the middle of the spot. Use a moisturizer with natural ingredients (ie. low or no chemical stuff); I used one that is 100% veggan ingredients and no color additives. Buff the spot in a light buffing motion with a soft tissue. I repeated it a 2 to 3 times, it got better. Left it alone overnight and did a few more times the next day and there is no sign of any mark and no discoloration of the leather (I have navy color). I did this to the replacement saffiano that I received in the mail, which was perfect except for what looked like a whitish scuff-like mark in the front of the bag whcih was about the size of a quarter (that wouldn't just wipe off). I figured if my action didn't help, it wouldn't hurt the bag; the woman said that it was a way to protect the leather. It worked and I saved myself the trouble of a return! Whatever you decide to do - Good Luck!

Hi everyone,
I'm new here..just got my prada saffiano lux bn1801 orchidea. Knowing that this light color will easily get the denim dye transfer problem...still its so hard to resist this color. I used to wear dark skinny but would like to try and experiment if wearing acid washed/ bleached jeans would help or not? I certainly don't wanna wearing skirts only because of the bag I bought..lol:D

Hi. Thanks for the suggestions/tips everyone. The scuffs are barely noticeable but I was a little bothered by it. I have a prada saffiano wallet that is 10 years old and there are no scratches/scuffs or anything on it even though I throw it around alot. But this new bag seems to get scuffed so easily even though I was very protective of it when I took it out. I guess this proves that quality has definitely gone down.

Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster will be a good book to read. According to Wikipedia:

In the book, Thomas examines the corporate takeover of the small family-run luxury businesses, and their mission to "********ize" luxury by making it accessible to the masses. These new luxury conglomerates have achieved spectacular success at this by hyping their brands at fashion shows, staging provocative commercials, dressing celebrities for red-carpet events, and by making their products readily available through licensing, franchising, outlet malls, and online retailing.

According to Thomas, all of this has led to produces of vastly inferior quality, rampant outsourcing to developing nations, and a massive surge in both counterfeiting and the illicit activities it funds.

Gloves. The leather darkens from moisture/sweat/creams/oils etc on the hands. Wear gloves and this doesn't happen.
This may be a tacky solution, however I have bought 2 identical pretty scarves (that compliment the colour of the bag) and wrapped them around the handles of one of my favourite bags that I want to preserve.
