Take my poll: Are your bags causing you to go into debt?

Is your bag collection driving you into debt?

  • Yes - I got my fingers and toes crossed for lots of cash this Chrismas

  • No - I stay within a budget or someone else pays off my bills

Wow.. Most of you girls have someone to pay for you. That is nice. Looking from month to month, it seems that i have a huge debt. but i always pays it off by the end of the year by reselling the bags that i have on ebay. :p

i have some debt but im trying my best not to purchase another bag til i have cash so i don't need to charge it. however, that's VERY hard seeing that everyone here seems to get a new bag every week! makes me wanna go splurge on a bag too!

Response to Issmom:

I AM retired and I have a boyfriend (we met when we both had Wall Street careers, he still does) instead of a husband - I had one once (4 kids) but this is a much better, sexier, happier relationship! - I wouldn't want it any other way!. An added plus is that he pays for our trips, our wine, our dining etc. which leaves me extra $$ for bags.

Sounds like the ideal situation!:D

Lucky I have a husband w/ money.....I am such a finatic for designer handbags I must look cute ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!
But I do remember the day I was not so lucky and had to shop at k-mart for bags and wasn't so cute.

I'm would never go into debts for luxury items. I never used the limit on my credit card. I use my credit card regularly but our account is in the black figures so no problem. I get my credit card bill once a months so it's not a credit card where you pay off in a monthly rate. I choosed it to protect myself from myself!

Fortunately, I will not allow myself to go in debt over my handbag love. When you put something on a credit card and pay it off little by little, it just adds to the cost of the bag.

But if I didn't spend so much money, I would have a lot more money in my savings account.

Same here! This month seems to be really bad though.Since being on the forum I have discovered so many bags I cannot live without!

I buy all my bags with Cash, no debt here, I went through hell with that after college. I also dont buy that many purses though and when I do it's usually Coach, which is reasonably priced. I would have a really hard time spending 2k on a bag and keeping my head above water financially.

Nope, I don't use a credit card.. And I don't have any loans to pay off or anything.. so I'm squeeky clean :D Just with a little less in my savings after this weeks purchase :p

such a responsible group....i do carry debt due to my shopping. i pay it off once or twice a year then build it back...though at any moment i could write a check and pay off the whole thing, i choose not too.
i agree with whoever said "going to hell in a handbag"

i have a question -- those of you whose dad's pay your bills....im to old for that sadly...do they ever object? i have a fifteen year old who is longing for a spy and i have a really hard time with that. though she does have a pochette from evey major designer.

I pay cash for everything unless it's an online purchase then I'll use a credit card, but I pay the balance off the moment that bill arrives.
I've never been big on paying interest or finance charges,I refuse to pay monthly payments on anything except my home mortgage.

I was taught to respect the value of a dollar at a young age.
I received a small allowance as a child and was given three piggy banks. One piggy for my spending money, one for my savings and one for charitable contibutions.
I've continued this practice thoughout my adulthood and believe me it's paid off in more ways than one.

It also helps keep bill collectors off your doorstep ;) .
