Take my poll: Are your bags causing you to go into debt?

Is your bag collection driving you into debt?

  • Yes - I got my fingers and toes crossed for lots of cash this Chrismas

  • No - I stay within a budget or someone else pays off my bills

my credit cards are actually looking quite good right now, but i'm a student so my limit is low anyway. i have one of those beginner credit cards where they start you super low and increase it over time because you make your payments etc. i'm only 19 and it's my first solo outing as far as credit, so i try to be reasonable. my biggest fear ever is having bad credit.

I envy you guys whose parents still pay your bills! LOL! Makes me wish I was still in college...

But anyway, I'm pretty good about shopping within my means... I only use my credit cards to get flight miles and they're usually paid off quick.

Oh man ... I'm jealous of you gals whose parents help them out  ; that was not the case with me. Quite the opposite, actually (had to pay for my Ivy League education myself - took LONG time to pay that those off {university + MBA}!).

Then again, I've always said that I don't owe anyone anything because I've gotten everything on my own!

Debt? Yes. But compared to my college debt (like you CeeJay I had to pay for my Ivy League education via loans) and my law school debt, the handbag debt is a drop in the proverbial bucket!

Oh that damn law school loans. Yikes! I agree with you on this one totally!!! I have to start paying mine off pretty soon too... :suspiciou

Am I the only "over the hill" member of this blog? I am living on a very nice retirement portfolio and I have a wealthy BF (who would leave me if he knew what I spent on handbags, but he doesn't) I have some debt to Saks and Nordstroms, which I'll take care of in time. - I buy nice things and am in Europe twice a year so I'm living now for now - and enjoying it - these are (after all) the, best years of my life.

I try to sell stuff I don't use anymore and use that toward my bag purchases. I'm selling some musical equipment I don't use anymore (used to play bass), that is worth around $1200 total. I also sell bags I don't carry anymore. Ta-da, money for a bag! I have other debt, but it's in the form of student loans and a small credit card balance that I put as much as I can on every month. I have good credit, pay all my bills on time, etc. I am lucky that my bills aren't too much, and I don't have a car payment. I don't worry too much about it. I have one life and want to enjoy it as much as possible!

We generally don't carry any debt besides our mortgage...I don't spend any more on my credit cards than I can pay off each month. That said, I'm going to carry a bit of my balance into next month because of gifts and other holiday expenses this month.

I don't know if you are the only retiree on the Forum but I do think the group is skewed young. More posts about boyfriends than husbands. Several people with parents footing the bill. More power to 'em!

well i think i'm going to buy a pewter balenciaga, so i'm going to be more in debt than i was before, lol, but it'll be ok in a few weeks. christmas plus a paycheck or two and it'll be off the card.
